But what ifNo it wont.
Ill eat crow then. But what if
How can anyone actually say things like this? They just showed an hour of actual on stage gameplay and the game looks excellent. 2 more years to polish it up and it’s going to be something really special.2026.
Just another kick the can down the road timetable to get people off their backs for awhile.
I knew in 2014 this whole thing was basically a giant fraud just to continually make money but never deliver a game. It just reeks of fraud.
Because they’ve been working on it for….how long? Come on, use your common sense. It’s never coming out. Mainstream press have been running articles suggesting fraud for literally a decade. This is not even my original idea, I’m just agreeing with it.How can anyone actually say things like this? Like… how far up your own ass does your head need to be to just ignore everything they showed at the convention today?

Because their primary concern is driving crowdfunding revenue, not shipping a good game.Squadron 42 has the most top acting talent of any videogame ever
Henry Cavill، Andy Serkis، Mark Hamill ،Gary Oldman ، Gillian Anderson ،John Rhys-Davies Ben Mendelsohn etc
I'll believe it when I see it. They've said things before. How can anyone actually say things like this? They just showed an hour of actual on stage gameplay and the game looks excellent. 2 more years to polish it up and it’s going to be something really special.

This. %. I remember an article about this game suggesting the same thing from nearly a decade ago, and looking into it myself. It clearly seems like a long-running fraud to me. I would expect criminal charges at some point, but the charges always come after the shit really hits the fan. The longer they can prop everything up, the longer they can get away with it and keep making money off it.Because their primary concern is driving crowdfunding revenue, not shipping a good game.
Game development takes time. I don't understand how anyone can question this. FFXV was in development for 10 years and that game has a significantly smaller scope than the TWO GAMES that CIG is developing side by side. Like.. what's your point? Prey took 11 years. Duke Nukem, famously, 14 years. Shit happens. Games take time to make. That doesn't just automatically make them scams.Because they’ve been working on it for….how long? Right… When did Mark Hamill mocap his scenes, 8 years ago??When/if it comes out I'll buy it.
The difference is, FF XV *actually came out*. Not to mention it was confirmed to have not always been in active development that entire time. It also began as PS3-era game.Game development takes time. I don't understand how anyone can question this. Flotsam, for instance, entered early access just over 5 years ago, and was a massively smaller game in scope back then. Today, its at version 0.8.5, and basically a completely different game. It's still not a scam.
Devs ain't getting their paid leave any time soon lmao
Ubisoft, Insomniac, and EA take each release 3 games in 15 years that are all sheeeeiiit. No one bats an eye.Right… When did Mark Hamill mocap his scenes, 8 years ago??
Good grief. How anyone still gives money to this scheme is just mind-boggling.
Was final fantasy 15 crowd funded?Game development takes time. I don't understand how anyone can question this. Wow. You clearly have come into this not knowing what you are talking about.Ubisoft, Insomniac, and EA take each release 3 games in 15 years that are all sheeeeiiit. No one bats an eye.
Star Citizen exists.
OMG look at that scam!
I don't care about delays. I care about ambition.Wow. You clearly have come into this not knowing what you are talking about.
Squadron 42’s planned release date was *ten* fucking years ago. Maybe go do your research.
The idea that a 30 hour Wing Commander spirital sequel would need 14 years of development is just totally ridiculous. As ridiculous as the idea a FPS as shitty as DNF needed 14 years. I said it in the other thread but the entire Wing Commander series, start to finish, was released between 1990 and 1997.Game development takes time. I don't understand how anyone can question this. I'm disappointed in this comment. You of all people should know that, as a spiritual successor to Wing Commander, of course Squadron 42 is going to have a lot of big actors. Wing Commander 3 famously had quite a lot of big actors, including Mark Hamill, Tim Curry, and John Rhys-Davies. There is no way Chris Roberts wouldn't bring big names for his big spiritual successor.Because their primary concern is driving crowdfunding revenue, not shipping a good game.
If the development of game outlives your lifespan, you won’t either.I don't care about delays. I care about ambition.

Because it’s been in “development” for 14 years and it’s likely nowhere near as close to release as they are trying to make it appear. Given that originally they were planning to release in 2015.Is it just me or is that gameplay video tearing like crazy?
why would you demo a game without vsync enabled? wtf?
And sucks. The difference is, FF XV *actually came out*
A) doesn’t matter, not applicable in this contextAnd sucks.
Okay. Well GTA6 has been in development since 2014. That's going to be 11 years. Is that game a disaster? Starfield started predevelopment in 2012. That's 11 years. Dev cycles are just longer now, because games are bigger than they used to be.The idea that a 30 hour Wing Commander spirital sequel would need 14 years of development is just totally ridiculous. Most of the time spent was not on this game and everyone knows this. You listed three projects that were total disasters and claimed that's the norm. Get serious. I don't know that Flotsam is but sounds shitty.
It's not just you. Awful screen tearing for the whole presentation, can't watch. Is it just me or is that gameplay video tearing like crazy?

A) GTA6 isn’t being crowdfundedOkay. Well GTA6 has been in development since 2014. That's going to be 11 years. Is that game a disaster? Starfield started predevelopment in 2012. That's 11 years. Dev cycles are just longer now, because games are bigger than they used to be.
GTA6 isn’t crowdfunded, it’s coming off literally the biggest game of anll time, and besides, the devs there have earned the trust of players in a way this group hasn’t.Okay. Well GTA6 has been in development since 2014. That's going to be 11 years. Is that game a disaster? Starfield started predevelopment in 2012. That's 11 years. A) Matters if this don't suck.A) doesn’t matter, not applicable in this context
B) so you acknowledge it did indeed come out
C) Sold 10+ million copies and is by no means considered a bad game
None of those games were in full production during those years since they were busy with other games they've already released.Okay. Well GTA6 has been in development since 2014. That's going to be 11 years. Is that game a disaster? Starfield started predevelopment in 2012. That's 11 years. Dev cycles are just longer now, because games are bigger than they used to be.
And you have to understand that the game is massively different in scope than they originally pitched. Jesus, look at the original squadron 42 teaser. It's laughable compared to what we got today. It's not like they have just been sitting on their thumbs and letting the money pile in. At the end of the day, it's just a fuckin video game. I pledged 40 bucks ten years ago for the package that contained SC and SQ42. I would rather have today's game, than whatever they were showing in 2012 as their pitch.Star Citizen's Squadron 42 campaign won't release this year
Cloud Imperium Games still has some work to do.www.pcgamer.com
This was published in *2016*. C’mon. Acknowledge how completely ridiculous that is. At this point it’s far beyond reasonable.
We’re so far off topic now (due to your post attempting to be a counterpoint to my arguments), that it’s best if we just end it here. It’s not productive.A) Matters if this don't suck.
B) Doesn't matter if this comes out.
C) I, as a consumer, don't care.
