PS5 Pro reviews

I did ~900+ Euro pc with 4070, 5500 CPU and 2tb nvme build. You can totally do that and in US components should be even cheaper? Of course I will be accused of derailing the thread...

You did? Where? New components? did you factor in your own hourly rate assembling the PC?

Secondly, I said noticeably

I saw that digital foundry discussion review on the ps5 pro and they showed baldur's gate 3 struggling and ran the same as the base ps5 in that notoriously laggy town section. That's all I need to know on cpu-limited games like this. A hard pass for me. Haha...$700. GTFOH. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Why would you buy a Pro when the upgrade is on the GPU side only then giggle at CPU limited Pro scenarios?

to you lol. To some of us it's well worth the 200-250 upgrade. If were trukey half way through the ps5 life cycle as many have suggested id expect the future of PS5 Pro games will be much better than these "patches" You can hate on it, but im pretty sure most of you will be buying one eventually because they are not going to drop in price anytime soon. Those days are probably over.
200-250 dollar upgrade? Even if you get $300-$350 for your PS5, you're looking at a $350-$400 upgrade which does NOT include tax, the disc drive, or the stand lol ...this is a $450-$500 upgrade for most people who are trading in their ps5

Honestly though imo just build a $1500+ pc if you want to do pc gaming and build a proper rig and not some half baked shit with a 600w psu.

Missing 1TB and no DS controller, up your price considerably

A 2TB drive's not a functional requirement for use, it's a luxury convenience that won't impact anyone but OCD hoarding downloaders who can't spare 10 minutes deleting and redownloading. 99.9% of anyone interested in buying a PS5 Pro already has at minimum, a DS4, Xbox 360/One/Series Pad, or a Dual Sense. For the 1 in 1 billion who does not, the 8Bitdo Ultimate 4C at $29 is a better pad than the over priced first party shit anyways.

If by "much higher" you mean $79. This $1079 system would at least be on par with Pro with much more utility, an upgrade path, much cheaper game prices, and no paid online Toll.
Is not healthy to get into this stuff because I'm getting out of the topic, but DDR5 Ram, 1Tb SSD only, no controller, And it's on sale price, not even the RRP.

Also, depending on where you are, I'm getting cheaper physical launch games on my PS5 compared to PC prices here in Australia, and I'm able to resell them.

Neither a Disc Drive, you can still buy digital games, but some are still complaining about it.

But again, each to their own, some people are getting tired of this PC vs PS5 Bullshit, some don't want to game on a PC and some don't want to game on console, simple as that.

It’s a functional requirement to be comparable to a ps5 pro, including a DS controller

Constant disingenuous comparisons. Does most everyone already own a ps5? Ok that means the ps5 pro only costs around $350 in that case if we are just going to assume things people own since you can sell your PS5

Nah, Sony just pushed the price point high enough to where a PC is a realistic alternative.

$500 to $1000 makes no sense but $800 to $1000 … that’s a reasonable leap, especially considering the multifunctional nature of a personal computer running Windows.
Having to deal with inconsistent controller support with button prompts that aren't right and taking longer to jump into a game isn't exactly appealing to someone who just wants to play games hassle free.

Firstly, the ps5 pro is 800 euro not 900 as pc is also digital. Secondly, I sincerely doubt it as this is the US and parts are cheaper than the EU. You can't even finish the build with garbage parts at $700, the pro's price talk-less of part's one would actually buy.

That's 16 GB of DDR5 system RAM, the GPU has an additional 12GB of GDDR6. You will see more frequent and even greater discounts moving into the Holidays, especially with the impending 5000 series GPU's leadings to 4000 clearance sales.

The PC vs PS5 Pro argument is stupid as hell to me.

I own a top of the line PC and I'm still excited to be picking up my PS5 Pro tomorrow. Both systems offer different and complementary gaming experiences. I enjoy gaming on both my PS5 and PC and don't ever feel the need to compare them as they both have their strengths and weaknesses depending on the situation.

But is not a 200-250 upgrade. If you already have a ps5 as most of us have, it is a 700-800 upgrade.. you think is worth it? For me is not..
For me yes because I want the best experience and will not play 30fps games anymore. This opens the door to much smoother and better looking games. For 200-250 I get a modern console, 2tb hD, 30% upgrade in most cases, 2gb of more ram and more potential upgrades as it evolves.

Man the PC crowd is working hard today. Not sure why PC users feel threatened? Without consoles plenty of devs wouldn't be making 1/2 the games PC players get to play on their platform of choice. Rising tide lifts all boats and all of that. But by all means return to regular programming comparing two quite distinct product categories, both coming with pros and cons and differing use cases.

How people lie.... Considering that I sold my one of my ps5's for 350 and another for 400, how is it a 700-800 upgrade when the pro costs $700. Ridiculous.

Literally happens with every PS5 Pro thread. :messenger_expressionless: You never see a console gamer try to bully a PC gamer into getting a console.

If by "much higher" you mean $79. This $1079 system would at least be on par with Pro with much more utility, an upgrade path, much cheaper game prices, and no paid online Toll.
For about $400 more…

Let’s take this step by step.

1.on par Pro with much more utility- yeah this is a console it’s plug and play. The whole point is not to fuck around with settings etc, shit just works comparatively. Coming back to the on par stuff in a bit.

2.an upgrade path- does buying this preclude you from buying a ps6? You can take the money you save and sell the pro to get a ps6. Where will this pc be in 4 years playing end of gen games?

3. much cheaper game prices- absolutely true, but it’s pc gaming your not guaranteed anything working or well at least with newer games. UE5 performance, UE5 performance, UE5 performance has been dogshit on PCs this gen. Sorry about the stutter there. It seems that the whole compilation BS that a lot of new PC games face now is just the new norm, for now. I have a 58003d with a 4090, yeah it handles most games far better than any console out there right now, but some of this stuff is just not avoidable currently and it’s just disappointing to have these type of issues with a rig costing over 4x of a ps5 pro.

4. and no paid online Toll.- comparatively most would pay more than ps plus essential in just using that pc and keeping that pc in idle all year round. Yeah you can turn it off to avoid idle cost but then your wasting time with system, gpu driver updates etc.

Now PC gaming isn’t bad at all. There is far greater access to way more games, features, customization, and all the other great things PC offers in flexibility. But the cost is time vs console gaming. I have waivered back and forth from favoring consoles to PC gaming for probably 30 years now as things change in the market it is always fluid. But the main thing I am hoping to relay. Is that the PC vs console decision isn’t just raw output or price, its preference of desired use cases.

And PS5/Pro does not have constant stuttering in UE games.

I wish more games would support keyboard and mouse on console. Really dislike playing FPS with controllers myself.
Even with certain games with aim assist, it's not the same as manually aiming with your mouse which feels way more satisfying and takes great skill. With analog sticks, I have to always adjust the settings to inverted y axist when playing 3rd person shooters cuz pushing up to look up or vice versa is confusing to me for some reason.

I only answered because I'm tired of "you need 5k pc to beat PS5 Pro" type of posts. It's not true, 1000$ PC is all you need to have better performance in most games. 2k PC is MUCH better performance.

Has nothing to do with can or can’t. It takes time. And time is money

Figuring out how to buy all the components cheaply, opening them all up, putting it all together, installing everything needed

It's also a passion, I think for most "hardcore" PC users building PC is joy. Just like train modelers don't consider building train models as "work".

= 937,56 Euro

PS5 Pro is 800 Euro, with disc drive 900. With PS+... etc.

Keyboard and mouse is 5 euro
Windows is free
Dual Sense is OPTIONAL, not required like on console.

$1000 > $700 and while performance can be better, you lose some of the unique features that the PS5 brings like the Dual Sense controller. The real point is, they are two different products and while crossover exists, they target two different groups of players.

That's right.
Some people will never play on pc and some will never play on console. I play on both.

OK but we aren't talking about hardcore PC gamers. We're talking about normal people just deciding to buy a gaming machine. These wouldn't be people that would enjoy that process. I've done it before a long, long time ago and get ZERO joy out of it. Which is why my PC is over a decade old and still runs everything I need to throw at it that's non-gaming related.

Of course some people will not like it or even be able to do it. Pre builds also exist but of course they have worse prices.

PC is not for everyone, that's for sure. But it offers WAY more options.

Hmm??? This is $1,000 in USD and DOES NOT include a controller.

So the best you could do is nearly $1,100.

Now add the time it takes to build and test all the components, etc....that's hours of $$ wasted

And it's roughly equivalent hardware, certainly not a meaningful leap above the Pro. That's certainly not a BAD PRICE for a gaming PC, but it is not head and shoulders better as a gaming device as you originally claimed.

It's 11% faster than 6800 and Pro is worse than 6800. You are looking like ~20%+ better GPU and 40%+ better CPU.

Dual Sense is not needed, you can play 99% of games using M&K. Just like 2TB SSD is not REQUIRED, just nice thing to have.

:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Come on man....the takes keep getting WORSE AND WORSE with you. The Pro has enhanced RT and AI upscaling, the 6800 DOES NOT. The AI upscaling is a huge part of the upgrade on offer.

A 20% GPU and CPU that's bottlenecked by lesser optimization due to the nature of PC (not to mention doesn't have the same dedicated hardware that you ignore in the PS5 that deals with all sort of ancillary tasks such as audio or compression), in the end it's a wash at best. It's not going to represent a significant leap like you were claiming before.

At the end of the day, even in your best case scenario you've laid out, a gamer is going to choose the platform they prefer to play the game. It just so happens that to do so on PC at roughly equivalent quality it will cost 70% more when factoring in equivalent components, and even more for the time wasted factor if you consider the time value of money.

I quit PC gaming because i was tired of chasing issues, bugs, reinstalling windows, etc. Not to mention I prefer controllers instead of M and K and I can't take cheaters anymore. Just quit being fun for me.

The ironic part is im still doing it. I bought my daughter a gaming rig with a 3080 because she likes mods, which is usually the issue something isn't working right.

Just prefer the console experience. Now PS5 felt great with demons souls and a couple games for a while. Fidelity modes look better but I prefer 60fps. The Pro should give me the fidelity mode at 60.

This pretty much sums myself up. Minus the daughter part. Wasnt enjoying gaming for a while and found that fun again when i picked up a PS4.

feels damn good to play GT7 at a locked frame rate. Cant wait to fill the storage up with shit iver never played.

But it’s fun! It’s like a long unpacking process to put stuff together and sense the nice new electronics smell on the new stuff, it’s awesome.

And it’s so straight forward now to build compared to just years ago, manuals are detailed and there are so many video guides if you’re confused about some parts of it.

The cost is the big hurdle. And going cheap on some $700 PC is just going to make you miserable. It’s better to invest the money on stocks and wait and then build a better one. No idea what’ll happen going forward, stock market could collapse tomorrow, but Nvidia could’ve given you a $2000 PC if the console money was invested in January and stocks were sold today. It’s gamble for sure. But sometimes worth it. Something to consider perhaps?

I get that it is fun for some. It used to be for me back in the day. It was a cool little learning experience.

But now, the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is put something together myself. Especially since I've done it before, it just seems more of a hassle and headache. Especially if any number of components potentially are bad. Most consumers are in my camp on this, the enthusiast that loves building a rig is niche.

Check your local GameStop. In my country they have trade in programs starting at +450 Euro depending on your PS5.

PC PC bros
Please stop it. Everbody knows there are much more powerful pcs, but they are more expensive and everbody knows the price performance ratio of the Pro absolutely sucks compared to the PS5 DE. Guess what, people will love their Pro and thats's fine. It's their money and they can buy whatever the fuck they want. You don't have to discuss that in every single Pro thread.

DF said in their latest clip and same said by Gamespot that

"If you have good CPU than it is better to invest $700 on GPU rather than getting a PS5 Pro".

If the building is the real obstacle you can always pay a small sum and get a custom pc shop to build it for you. I think I paid $50 extra for my first custom build. Was worth it at the time because I had no experience. I’ve built a couple myself after that and now I really enjoy the process. Would build another one today if I had a reason to do it. Might upgrade the CPU, 7900x to 9800x3D, but that’s a small thing. Oh well.

Roughly 200% the performance for genuine Pro patches for only 55% more cost (and you get an extra 1TB with that as well), is not a bad performance ratio.
In my country it's 100% (399 vs 799 Euro) and from what i have read it's roughly +30-45% and visual wise it's not even that from what i've seen. But if i'm wrong and the price performance ratio is great, all the better. My point stands, the hate and pc comparisons in ever single Pro thread are getting tiring and that's it from me here, didn't want to derail anything.

Maybe check out Facebook market place. You can get $300 out of it, $350 with a couple games.

I'm in USA and gamestop will only give me $200 but they'll sell it for $400, fuck them.

I'm going to find some kid on an angel tree with Christmas coming up that wants one and give it away. it's worth more to me someone get it that wouldn't on Xmas, than GS making that much profit on it.

Good luck.

Isn’t that comparing VAT included price for Pro to PS5 DE without VAT included?

30-45% is raster only for unpatched games. real magic is that combined with PSSR and/or RT

Stellar blade looks better than the native 4K30 mode in terms of fidelity and it runs at 60fps thanks to PSSR. That’s > 100% improvement when patched properly

That would be a fantastic upgrade to Stellar blade ...I've waited so long for that game to get it's first sale ...still $70 ..gonna have to wait longer

PS5 had dollar - euro parity, that's why Pro price looks horrible in Europe. Double the price vs. DE.
