Skill Up single handedly ended BioWare. His video is sitting at 382k views. 😂 EA is making more on the tax write off from the loss anyway. Good riddance. After Andromeda and Anthem, I was out. What gets me is that they lied the whole time through development about the writing and we all KNEW it.

The most middle of the road, inoffensive reviewers on YouTube in MrMattyPlays and SkillUp were pretty scathing in their criticisms of the games.

I’m curious to see how the most the rational minded and compassionate community on the internet are reacting to those reviews….

Oh….
The ultimate sign of comfort and privilege.

When the brain no longer has to fight for survival, it starts to fight itself.

man these dialog options look so fucking terrible.

I want to play as a hero who kicks ass and saves the world. Not as some therapist who talks to all these weirdos about their emotions and helps them process their feelings.

My single biggest issue with all the Sweet Baby influence in gaming today isn't even the forced diversity or heavy handed political messaging (although both are grating), it's that that worldview doesn't allow for any level of legitimate conflict. The result is enforced bland storytelling and characters. There's no possibility for nuance, compromise, sacrifice, or risk. It's rather impossible to tell an interesting story without these things.

Is there a trick I need to do to actually get inline twitter posts to load? I'm using Firefox if it matters.

Back to the game... I remember Fox News doing scandalized reporting 20 years ago on the first Mass Effect being "pornographic" because you could plow Liara. Anyone know what the plowing situation is in this? I'm always willing to forgive a little foolishness if I can pipe the whole town. It sure helped in the Fable games.

I'm currently watching Skill Up's review of the game. It is not looking good at all to me. Specially for a narrative driven game.

"Every interaction sounds like HR is in the room". That phrase is just brutal.

Yes.

I don't necessarily trust Skill Up when he praises games (we have different tastes in combat, for instance), but I almost always trust his negative reviews. He analyzes the problems thoroughly, provides good examples, and articulates the problems quite well. When he doesn't like something, he really shows his chops as a reviewer.

If you let Taash talk your ear off about gender identity and agree with everything they says, they will let you see their mystery Qunari genitalia and top surgery scars.

I'm watching the Big Bang Theory in the background while browsing YouTube reviews of the game, and I'm not sure if it's just me, but the language in the dialogue seems kinda out of place the setting. It wouldn't be out of place in Big Bang Theory (from these clips I'm watching).

For a second there I thought you were giving me a tutorial on the twitter thing.

Me and his preferences don't always align (for instance, although I acknowledge and agree with most of his criticisms of FFXVI, I still love that game), but I do trust him in being clear and giving good backed up arguments for his opinions.

I just watched Mortisimal Gaming review of the game and to him this is a GotY contender and the best entry in the series. I'm rather confused now, but I'm still currently leaning towards believing Skill Up mainly because he gave lots of examples with footage for most of his criticisms.

Skill Up:

"[The game] is a colossal disappointment. I really can't put it any other way. I spent 50 hours playing this, and it was time that I desperately wish I could get back. I started having my doubts at around the 10 hour mark, I was thoroughly checked out at the 20 hour mark, and the remaining 30 hours were just excruciatingly painful as I was forced to suffer through the endless morass of banality that is Dragon Age: The Veilguard. In many ways, Veilguard is a bigger disappointment than Anthem was."

This is NASTY!!!! Man......EA just kills companies man.
