The decision to launch Death Stranding with a 50% discount was ingenious in the absence of a long announcement / marketing cycle.
Some DF pointers:
- Decima looks and runs great on Xbox
- Broadly PS5 and SX are very similar with minor occasions where either PS5 or SX can pulls ahead a frame or two
- John recommended (and still does) playing the game in its Ultra Wide mode
- Series S: Quality: Dynamic 1080p, Performance: Dynamic 900p
- Series S runs a touch smoother than SX in Quality mode
- Quality: DRS 2160p. Xbox seems to scale horizontally and PS5 vertically (as well as horizontally, they weren't very clear on this)
- Perf: Both consoles are identical at DRS 1800p

Word its extremely addictive. I don't usually enjoy grinding but in this game it was fun.
That has been a pretty good decision and I think it has led to many units being sold. Not for nothing DS is in the top of the best sellers on XBOXStore only surpassed by COD6 30$ Upgrade.
On the other hand, I think they saw well that the news of its arrival on Xbox was going to have enough impact so that they didn't need to "waste" a lot on advertising. MS has also done its part by placing it in places with visibility in the XboxStore as well.

Already had it through Epic, never played it. Still bought it for Play Anywhere and to support the multiplat strategy.
Playing it now. My general takeaway after 5 hours. Weirdest story I’ve ever experienced in the hobby, possibly beaten by Scorn. Gameplay is like Mudrunner but on foot. Super slow. Oddly addictive. Looks surprisingly great for a 5 year old game.

Definitely a game that gets a pass for who the devs are. What a pain in the ass game to play. Gave it a chance but had to uninstall.

Total frauds. I've been a big Xbox guy for years but anyone who's honest has to admit that Sony 1st party games are almost always super high quality. If you can't recognize quality just because it's not on your box then you're a loser and need to take a few steps back from the hobby. Same with anyone who talked shit about Xbox first party and celebrated when Hi-Fi and Sea of Thieves got ported.
I prefer my Xbox and don't plan on getting a PS5 anytime soon (so long as DS2 comes to Xbox now) but I'd buy pretty much any Sony first party game day 1 if it came out on Xbox.

Would love to see Crackdown 4 at some point. Re. Death Stranding, I have played 2h on my PS4Pro- thought that game was shit, still bought it again for 17£ for Xbox (bargain bin) just to support Kojima multi platform strategy, not planning on playing it ever. For me, imo. crackdown is much more fun/better game.

It's actually moved up from before, now the 3rd top paid app.
Xbox owners seem to have welcomed Kojima back with open arms.
Good for future prospects, O.D and possibly DS2 a few months after its PS5 release.

I mean .. it's the next best selling thing on Xbox after CoD since release, and to my understanding the Xbox top-paid chart is based on revenue, so at $19.99, it must be selling pretty good to be only behind CoD and ahead of other new releases.

Anyway, back to the game. I have owned it and played the first 3 to 5 hours around 3 times and fallen off it. Weed has made me very much enjoy this game. So chill, so grindy. Nothing to do with Xbox as I was planning to finally jump into it this year on my PS5 directors cut. The xbox version just made me dedicate a full evening to it earlier than planned and it got its hooks into me.
