Kojima Studios owns the IP.

Huh? I know DS2's copyright made this confusing, but DS1 was as straightforward as it can get.
Trademark owned by SIE and production copyright by Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. I don't get how Kojima would own the IP in either case.
Edit: Genuinely surprising if it's indeed now the case, but hey, if someone can get Sony to sell its IP, it's Kojima. It probably explains why they also let him own the Physint IP.

My take that the deal was 5 years to reach certain goals to own the IP and KojiPro just delivered. Especially looking at Bungie deal.

Surprised they didn't do any marketing for this. Interested to see how well the game runs seeing as it's using the Decima engine

Nah, it was definitely sold to Kojima, mostly because this was a point of discussion regarding DS2.
This is the game's copyright:

They are 100% doing a Switch 2 port.

If Switch 2 is anywhere near as well received in the market as Switch 1, i'm not sure there's any major 3rd party game skipping the platform.

But we'll know for sure when the final specs are out

The gameplay and atmosphere is great in this game, but the story is the most stupid boring trash that a middle schooler could have wrote better. I actually laughed out loud a couple of times when playing this due to the terrible story.
Kojima should stick to designing gameplay and thats it, he will be utterly exposed when he makes his movie.

My son and I haven't spoken to each other for 23 years. No clue what the bastard even looks like these days. It was due to console wars. Son of a bitch was always a Microsoft fanboy. Now I can finally tell him that God of War and Last of Us 3 are on its way to Xbox!!
Christmas gonna be different this year. My boy is coming home!

At this point Sony are multiplatform as well as Microsoft. Only Nintendo holding out.
Check the publisher.

Maybe the deal was that he won't make another game for them if he can't own his games.

Not surprised. Sony never really cared for the IP and they prefer the same old safe gameplay for dumbfucks instead of the experimental shit Kojima was trying to do. Good for Kojima and Xbox fans tho.

Every day Sony give me new reasons to not look forward PS6. Nintendo is gonna be the only relevant console maker from now on.

Pretty much i will ride this gen with Sony but I don't see them giving enough reasons to own a ps6 in the future. I already have a PC library as well and I mostly buy physical on console so its a easy switch with exclusives gone. I will keep my ps5 around though.

I'm intrigued who was the decision maker in this.

Did sony have a timed deal with kojipro on which platform it will be on?

If they sent it willingly to xbox, then this might be the start of something biggger.
Kojima now fully owns the IP. I suspect they regained the IP as part of the deal for PHYSINT which we know is being co-developed with Sony, they probably see more value in a trans media Metal Gear successor (And I totally agree)

Which leaves open the possibility that DS 2 might end up being released on Xbox at some point.....🤔

Possibly the most shocking, unexpected and at the same time strange announcement I can recall in a long time. And a shadow drop.

PS. Sony allowing the use of Decima Engine on XSeries is also curious and makes one wonder if there is some kind of extra implication.

For the XBox bros, it's a really cool game with a interesting story but it requires a lot of your time and patience, and it needs for you to grind a bit...

Woah, is this the first time a Sony owned IP has been ported to Xbox?

Edit: oh wow Sony let Koji pro get full ownership now!

Wtf? I'm confused. Is this a native release for Xbox consoles?
Yes, optimized for Series S|X to utilize 12.14 teraflops of computational power, delivering the best experience possible on the world's most powerful home entertainment system.
Ah finaly the best way to play. This is just the start, we will be playing all that other Sony junk on the most powerfull console in the world soon aswell, especialy after the pro flopping with its sub 60fps performance 💪💪🟢🟢.
We keep winning on our Series X 💪
