Never been fan of calling upscaling resolution the same as internal resolution, they can go 16K if the output resolution supports it, with a 720p internal resolution…
I used to be that way, until I seen the results and how wasteful native is.

They always state it's upscaled either way. Hell, there are some instances where the IQ is better than native. Should they then call it "Better Than Native" then? It would not be inaccurate.

*In specific cases and conditions… thats not the norm. And looking by some analysis the PSSR when go below 1440p internally is having a lot of issues. So internal resolution still very important and especially for PSSR.

It’s the norm for the games that internally render at 1440p-ish, and there’s lots

The FINAL TRANSMISSION dlc and all the "fixes" they made to the movement, animations, and combat ruined the game for me. The gameplay had weight when it was released, and now everything is overly sped up and doesn't feel anywhere near as punchy or satisfying. The ending they delivered with the dlc was also so bad that it killed any motivation for me to ever play through the game again.

Three modes again, just give me ONE good one, jesuss these damn consoles are insufferable.
Choice is always better as no choice. Let people choose what experience they want.

That being said I really hated the combat in this game and I can’t see myself jumping back in no matter how good it looks.

Yes, but you're making 1080p jokes and mentioning 720p in a Thread of a game running natively at 3456x1944 on base PS5..

Amidst people who already tried it at 8K and claimed it looks insane.

No, never been fan.
You wasn't a fan like this
Nintendo haters are something else here, they always find a way to attack Nintendo, I can’t wait to see comparisons between SW2 games with current gen consoles, if DLSS works as expected is going to be a lot of fun here, good times ahead 😂.
or like this?
Switch 2 is going to be on par with PS4 at minimum in terms of power + DLSS + Basic Ray tracing.
I'm sure if I will dig further I will find many more evidences of you "not being a fan", but your post history is such cesspool that I feel dirty to ever touch it.

OK so tried a bit of this just now flipping between modes.

4k60 with RT is impressive compared to what we had before which was visibly distorted and no RT. It doesn't look native ill say that but it looks very sharp it's like one rung below native. I can't help but feel the black level raises in this mode.

4k40 I think this is running native and looks pin sharp unless the 60 mode is using pssr performance and this is using performance either way it's very impressive. It feels like a sweet spot for this game but the smoothness of 60 and ever so softer image may be worth it I mean it's super super close.

It just has thT extra pop.

Now the 8k mode does indeed downscale and it looks incredible and. Great show of what pssr can do above native.

Impressive. I'll play in a mix of 4k40 and 4k60 lol we're still choosing.

There's an uncanny absence of Bojji Bojji in this Thread, feels incomplete.

Man, I wish so bad this was Dead Space instead.. but I'll give Callisto another shot.

I was working, but here I am :messenger_heart:

I completed this game in 30fps on regular PS5, it was painful (I only had 5700XT when it launched so no PC version for me). Looks like good improvements in this Pro patch. Obviously without competent technical analysis right now all we have is just developers PR.

Sadly it won't change the subpar Combat
Combat in Callisto Protocol is difficult. However, once I learned how to block enemy attacks, the combat was fantastic. Every enemy encounter in this game looks a little different because you can use stealth, melee (you can use stun baton, or stamp on downed enemies), weapons, gravity projector, or use traps.

Callisto Protocol is a solid 9/10 in my book and I had more fun playing it than the Dead Space remake. The graphics in this game also looks amazing. I dont know if any other game has more detailed assets. People have complained about performance, but I played the game when it was already patched and it ran surprisingly well even on my old GTX1080 (50-60fps at 1440p FSR2 quality). Now on the RTX4080S I have 120-150fps at 4K native TAA without RT, and 50-90fps with RT. With FSR2 quality the game runs at around 100-140fps with RT only dipping to around 60fps a few times (CPU limited situations) during the whole game.

Here's my screenshots. I think the PS5Pro version might look similar.

Is something getting lost in translation?

On the PC you can have individual settings OR nVidia and AMD provide several pre-set console-like settings. (Balanced, Performance, etc).

I was referring to the latter.

You mean profiles?

Still, PC settings are very different in this regards.

I was a long time ago a PC gamer until I was instructed from Nvidia support team to go on Microsoft Regedit to fix a problem with my graphics card.

There are a list of pros and cons, so I prefer consoles to stay away from this.

I was interested in this game before it came out, nut after release lost interest based somewhat on the reviews but mostly of reactions around here. Played it on PS+ and ended up really liking it, I mean its not a GOTY contender but it was a solid game. I would have get this on a sale if I had known it was this good.

Don't sleep on this if you have it on PS+. You may really like it.

Oh yeah, just remembered this game had significant stutter issues at launch on PC (which have since been patched) and the PC version still has no DLSS. That explains why I have the PS5 version.

Wow this is a nice upgrade patch! Nice variety of options and really pushing the perf envelope on what is one of the best looking games of this generation thus far.

Worth reminding everyone that running this game at native 4K/60 with the full ray tracing enabled is only possible on an RTX 4090 (not even the RTX 4080 or the 7900XTX can do it). So to see an AMD driven console pushing what appears to be native 4K/40fps with ray tracing is super impressive! We're talking roughly the experience of a 4070TI/7900XT here:

BTW, this is not the first title that is optimized for AMD hardware and/or console to approach 7900 XT performance on the PRO. This seems to be a best case scenario :messenger_winking:

I'll definitely revisit this game soon, I've been meaning to. It's cool how it's practically become some sort of underdog since its release.

Also thanks for the info tommib tommib , I was really interested in [REDACTED] but was holding out for a bit. You made me not want to hold out much longer, lol.
