This was Ada's VA in RE2 Remake. I could make a guess as to why they recast her, but surely they could have found a VA of Asian descent who doesn't sound like Janis Joplin lol

They should've just brought her back. Nobody would've complained, aside from maaaybe a few mental cases on Twitter.

You're probably right, but I think even that's enough for Capcom to want to avoid the possibility of a controversy.

Plus, you just know Kotaku would've written an article about it, and this decision means that article won't be written, which means fewer clicks for Kotaku. That's a win!

The new voice actor for Ada is horrible, spoils the game to an extent for me (same with the merchant), but people seem to of forgot that Capcom got a bit of stick from woke sites for the fact that Ada wasnt voiced by an asian in RE2 Remake

I wish Capcom had just been like 'whatever', like some Japanese studios do, but alas they caved to the loonies.

lol time proves me right once again. I told everyone that vram was going to be a limitation this Gen just like it was last Gen for the gtx 500 series.

she still looks amazing though. Capcom definitely didn’t make her ugly so i gotta give them props for that. Ashley looks great too.

Ada still looks good yes but she's lost the flirty tone in her voice, especially around Leon.
And Ashley doesnt look bad or anything, but she looks 10 years older than the orig Ashley, who was obviously a teenager in the first game. And, of course, she lost the mini skirt, as we know young women dont wear them anymore in 2023 right.

I was a little lukewarm on it when I first started, but I'm in Ch. 6 now and this is really everything I ever dreamed of as an RE4 fan. Fights are intense (even much more than Dead Space Remake, there are so many times when I get cornered or escape by the skin of my teeth and go "holy shit"), the character interactions are more detailed without changing the tone, It's just too cool. And I can't want to upgrade all my guns and see how the combat evolves. The mechanics are super tight and satisfying. The perfect videogame.

Still working on it, myself, but this should point you in the right direction. Mod overview and instructions on how to install:

wow. that looks amazing compared to even native and almost 40% more performance?

Let me know if you're able to get it to work.

Tbf I welcome this change, Ashley is supposed to be early 20s and in the og she looked far too young, especially with the hinted at Leon romance or whatever

I think the VA for her has done an amazing job as her so far from what I’ve heard early on in my game

I subscribe to the idea where if you say it'll be a problem, it'll be a problem. If they kept the voice actress from RE2R, it wouldn't have affected their sales one bit. It's a shame they caved.

I was able to get it to work. If you follow the directions in the description, make sure to download the 26MB RE4 Reframework zip. Myself and others in the comments had downloaded the 7MB one, and that won't work.

I tested it, and DLSS is working, as I can flip the settings back and forth to confirm, but I'm not getting the performance boost others have seen. I have a 3080, so maybe it's because this is DLSS 3.x, and my card isn't compatible. Also, it's very unstable. Alt-tabbing out or changing some settings will cause a crash.

I'm sure they'll iron it out, but I might go back to using FSR 2.x for the time being.

Professional Difficulty definitely isn't messing around. Enemies are pretty tanky, it generally takes 4-5 shots to the head to stagger them.

No one play tested this bit I see...

Also, nothing kills me like a game asking if you want to crank the difficulty down on the basis of the fact they didn't balance an encounter.

I'm starting it tonight. For those who are a good deal in, so far what do you think is better... the RE4 Remake or the RE2 Remake? I fucking loved the RE2 Remake, I hope this leaves a similar impression.

you absolutely can't compare RE 2 to this imho. RE 4 remake is an intense third person shooter, enjoy the ride

I cannot stress enough how essential the Bolt Thrower is. If you're playing on Hardcore or Professional, it's the most important weapon in your inventory. Don't let the low damage full you. During exploration and quieter sections, using this thing will set you a fuck ton of ammunition. I'm seen some complaints from people reaching certain sections of the game and not having enough ammo to deal with the enemies. I'm guessing their playing on Hardcore and ignoring the Bolt Thrower. Get it, upgrade it, use it. You'll be surprised how useful it is. Also use you environment to you advantage. Don't destroy beartraps, use them to learn enemies in. If you do, they'll get caught, melee them, and it's a one hit kill. Lure them into tripwires also.

They're both great, but this is definitely better. Better gameplay, story, characters, more content, etc.

My main weapon except I hate the animation lock when you aim. takes way too long imo. can that be upgraded?

Okay. I played the pc version. Running a 3080. Just finished Chapter 1 yesterday. After tweaking the controls and settings, it plays so well. I'm enjoying it a lot. With the retro soundtracks swap too? Yes. 😎

Just chaotic. Ended up using grenades to stun and then unloaded the riot gum on them while they we're prone. Probably would have made more sense to leave the room and get some space.

Yeah I did the same. using grenades is the right choice

Nope, but I never use it during the more chaotic fights for that reason. Also because it's slow. But during slower sections, it's so useful.

Bought the bolt thrower on my first run on hardcore. 100% agree.

so far I have

performance mode
RT on
strands off
motion blur off

not sure how to adjust aiming, any suggestions for camera speed/acceleration?

i'm at chapter 4, 3.5 hours in....

I'm trying to find a good use for the bolt thrower but it seems like the rifle +scope is just a superior weapon all around. Headshots in the original felt satisfying enough but this remake makes them feel like heaven!!!!

The game is so smooth it's really pleasant to play. It controls so well.
I am palying 4k, fsr1 ultra quality, RT off, maxed settings, 8gb textures and so on. not a single crash because of disabling RT. That's how I played the whole game.
I just noticed that disabling hair strands... makes hair actually look a bit better and you gain about 10-15% of performance.... which puts me from 85 to 100fps... and no longer fresh out of shower pantene hair lol.

Not a fan of the Salazar redesign, because he just looks like an undead Queen Elizabeth
I am loving the game but I am so dissapointed that using RT on pc crashes the game. I wish Capcom would fix this but who knows
Huh? I haven't had any crashes at all with this game, even with RT on High. The game runs beautifully on PC - gotta love the RE Engine!

How did you manage to stay blind for 18 years?

Either way, give it a fair shot and complete it, maybe you'll come around to it. :)

I dunno I just.. didn't look at reisdent evil stuff really.

Actually that is a lie cause I played some Resident evil village.

I dunno why anyone is mad about my post cause I literally said the game is just no for me, cause I expected survival horror a'la the older games. Just didn't realise it went all action based.

Switched to resolution + RT with vrr on PS5, the picture was too blurry on performance, Ill just deal with the jank.
rt is just few puddles and some water reflections. disable that shit. hair also eats a lot of performance.

btw people - does original music/sfx dlc changes any other audio aside from music ?

I turned off ray tracing and am only using 5/12 allotted ram in the graphics settings.

Game still managed to crash on me.

That’s ultimately what keeps this game from being a 10 like the original is that the crashes exist.

That said the stormy weather village was something else. And the surviving the cabin scene was so much more intense and fun here.

Game is amazing so far.

That seems weird, you have any other processes that could be taking up VRAM? I’ve been playing with 8/12 the whole game and it’s been smooth as butter.

Just started the island section now. The game gets so much better once you reach the castle. I actually enjoyed the Ashley section and it was the first genuine improvement over the original for me. And then the mining cart ride was also so much more fun to play. I love that they expanded Luis' role too and gave his death scene more gravitas without making it hilariously dramatic like in the original. The original had Leon react to his death in such a dramatic fashion it's like he was losing a brother, when in reality he barely knew the guy. In the remake it's made much better and Leon doesn't get so broken up about it either. Oh, and the fight with Krauser. Much better than a bunch of QTEs coming out of nowhere. The fight with Salazar was also much better, though I appreciated that it still allowed you to just one-shot him with an RPG this time as well, lol.

All around, second act is chock-full of positive changes. Looking forward to the grand finale now.
