List of PS5 Pro enhanced games

I'm playing Kena (PS+) on Pro in Performance mode. Almost 2/3 through the game, crispy clear and solid 60 fps. If you haven't played it before, I highly recommend to play it especially during the holidays.
Tried out Uncharted Legacy of Thieves and it's basically locked 120fps using the 4K Fidelity mode - targeted 40fps previously.

edit: it's not. First chapter fooled me.

Is the Uncharted Trilogy just locked at 1080/60? If so 4k/120 would be fantastic and I’d reply the whole series.
The ps5 2 remasters are insane at 120fps 4k fidelity, the remaster trilogy from ps3 days runs at 1080p 60 I believe and it gets a little cleaned up by the ps4 upscaler

the lost legacy/uncharted 4 remaster for ps5 running at super fast frame rates at full 4k with all bells and whistles could drop today and we would be blown away, that's how insane those games look to this day

To translate this for people that have been brainwashed by PR term-abuse - Carmack/Oculus coined this 'Asynchronous SpaceWarp' - ie. tech that adds spatial reprojection to VR generated frames.
Or to put it into a completely different context - in normal games this is Frame-Generation with Extrapolation. Basically imagine 'DLSS3 that actually improves latency'.

But the fact that they're just stealth-dropping this into PSVR2. Possibly it's a Pro only feature, maybe using AI - but that could still warrant someone talk more about it - Mark what are you doing?

Hmm the only thing I noticed when turning it on was that the HUD numbers get odd when passing through 'other stuff' such as tunnels, for example.

According to dev on reddit its not pro only reprojection algorithm but its more demanding thats why it could be harder to implement on base ps5

I'm getting mixed results. Using fidelity mode with uncapped framerate sometimes it's really smooth, then seems to revert back to 40fps lock. Swimming in the underwater part near the start with the cargo felt a solid 120fps, but coming out and running around the dock seemed to lock at 40fps again.

I read that whenever a new chapter starts, there is a bug which reverts to a locked 40fps. So you have to toggle it again to unlock it. Let me know how you get on fixing it, as I've been saving my next playthrough.

Yeah U4 is up there with Arkham Knight as games I was completely blown away with at their reveal last gen. At least that benefits from the PS5 Pro. LL was also a great game.

I only did the first part of Lost Legacy, until after the first fight and it was always at 118.something in the VRR information box of my C2. Felt smooth all the way, but maybe other parts are more taxing.

The double image effect (that you get otherwise when doing 45->90 or 60->120) is gone in motion.
Easiest test is to try moving (not turning) your head and observe the environment - you get a more responsive and crisp motion.

Yes there are some side-effects on HUD elements like with most frame-gen, but it's well worth it for the improvements.

Indeed it's not free to do this - I wondered though if they used AI-acceleration to assist it, which would make it even harder on base PS5.
Still surprised this was just shadow-dropped though - even if it only works on Pro for now it would be worth making noise about it given they literally just launched the thing.
 
I don't understand why Silent Hill 2 can't just offer a toggle between PSSR and TAA like God of War Ragnarök does.

I've been sitting on this game for 2 weeks now waiting on a fix.
Yeah same. I really want to go back and finish it (I just got to the hospital so roughly half way but it's been awhile since I played the original so I don't remember) but I'll continue to put time into Stalker until they fix it.

I still think Kena looks better than the vast majority of games. Magical game IMO.

It could be using some sort of vsync which sometimes if it drops below a certain threshold will drop to the base 40. I don't know all the details about how this works but I know I've heard DF talk about stuff like this before.

Also how are you measuring the FPS? I only ask because the counter on my LG Oled is not accurate and a lot of time will just show a locked 120fps if I put a game into 120hz mode which isn't going to be accurate. It's the same on Xbox. PC is the only thing I get a truly accurate reading from.

Are you sure? I have 120hz vrr TV and when I switched to the fidelity mode it looked 40fps not boosted. It looked fantastic however especially in the performance mode.

Ratchet and clank rift apart is so good. I started a challenge mode play through and whether in fidelity or performance it's excellent.

did you turn "unlocked framerate" on?

It's not at 120fps on 4k fidelity mode, your tv isn't correctly reading the frame rate.
UC trilogy is using internal frame doubling in old 40fps modes to have lower vrr window if I recall correctly.
This would mean that these modes are locked to 60fps by their sotware lfc solution because you can't go around doubling 63 fps on 120hz...
Althoug maybe not since I've played it and the old quality 40fps mode, does not feel like 60 to me. Feels still like 40-50fps. Hard to say

Feels somewhere in-between 40-60. You can try to test it in the Madagascar chapter when you are in the market. The performance mode can dip into the 80s there and the fidelity mode feels a lot less smooth than that mode. You can see the difference moving the camera around.
Bummer. I only tried the initial part, up until the first fight. I'll check my saves later but it was never below the VRR range as far as I could tell. Maybe my unit is magic (jk obv)

Not measuring with anything but I know what 40fps feels like and I know what 120 feels like. It's like it's just swapping between two randomly. User above said there is a bug though where it can lock back after chapters and you have to re-enable it so going to try that next time.

So performance is probably 4K/60 most of the time now. The Pros extra GPU power probably gets it over the hump.

Also another question. Since the Pro has a higher power draw now, can it boost both the CPU/GPU to max at all times if needed? I’m not remembering if this was stated anywhere. It probably was, I just missed it or forgot.

OK I need to revise my thoughts on Silent Hill 2 a little bit. It's not as bad as I thought. While I'm disappointed that they didn't add to the visuals much, I am definitely seeing an improvement to resolution and iq in the Performance mode and it feels like a more solid 60 fps ...

Reflections are still broken tho on both modes ...I'm leaning away from my initial thought that Gi/Ao was downgraded..i went back and revisted the first half of the game where I spent the most time playing and the lighting looks about the same. It still looks good sans the reflections

I was playing the game 90% of the time in Quality mode prior so I'm a bit bummed they didn't didn't increase settings in this mode ...the 1080p internal resolution seems too low without altering other aspects of the visuals. A higher res would go a long way to solving the issues with shimmer on specular highlights as well as reflections.

Performance mode looks better now tho for sure but there's still a difference between quality modes Lumen settings and Performance lumen/lighting. If they could've got the same level of graphics that the Quality mode had on base PS5 but at 60 fps i would've been very pleased with this update.

LFC frame-doubles outside of the VRR window - that's the whole point of it.

Thanks I'm going to give this another play through and I'll probably go for the Platinum.

First play through I thought it looked unbelievable anyway and it was such a good game. Hyped for this now.
 
The target for a PSPro do have a good TV for sure.
They still need to patch this ...a regular 4k oled is still a damn good TV, the majority of Pro owners don't even have 120 hz ...all they need to do is unlock the fps in Quality mode. If the Pro can't pull that off than I don't know what to say. They're just being lazy not patching it at this point
