Yeah that was DLC as well as additional sidequests you could do for Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Also the first Creed to include a trans character and this stunning and brave disclaimer

That will be the start of Ubisofts downfall.

Currently trying the PS5 version. Resolution looks the same as the PS4 Pro version, but at 60fps.
Does anyone know if the Series X patch bumps it to native 4K or close? Thinking of double dipping if that's the case, since it's on sale.

In-game looks great on PS5, but cutscenes look grainy as hell for me. The transition to and from gameplay is a bit stark.
I think cutscenes are prerendered videos.

But yeah, gameplay (on XSX here) looks smooth and crisp. I tried the game earlier today pre-patch and the difference is yuge.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
For those who have played it, is the Jack the Ripper DLC worth picking up the game again for $15 with the season pass?

Hmm, interesting.

Odyssey and Origins also retain their PS4 Pro and One X resolution just at 60fps.

This game never got One X support so this is the first time it's in higher resolutions on Xbox.

Sounds like it's the same deal then, retains checker-boarding on the PS5 from the PS4 Pro version and Xbox is native pixels.

edit: Ah fuck it, picking up the Gold version.

Getting a pretty good deal on it too.

Try and match some screenshots with the PS5 version. They look clean but also a little soft (could just be AA but who knows).
Edit: Oh no, I made a huge mistake. I bought Ass Creed I and II from them directly...
Your game is available through the free Ubisoft Connect Launcher on your PC.
Edit: I installed their shit stuff, it says I own Origins and Syndicate...?

Sounds like the JTR DLC is very good.

Anyways, this thread made me check UbiConnect on my PC to see if I owned Syndicate...I do! This time period actually looks pretty refreshing to play through right now. May have to get the DLC too.

Some pics from the opening of the game. I haven't played this in years and forgot how long of an unskipable pre-rendered video is at the start sigh.

This game never got a One X version, which I guess could be a reason why the patch is basically downloading the entire re-compiled game on Xbox versus just a patch on the PS version.

Unity was the last AC game I played and really enjoyed it. I've had Syndicate for a while but never tried it, might make it my next open world ordeal barring any issues this patch may cause.

Seems like a pretty solid patch for me so far on PS5.

it's still an Xbox One game tho right? or does it say Xbox Gen9 in the app infos? it would be crazy if they made a whole ass port just to give it this update 🤣

The Fileinfo shows Gen9Aware, so it's not a full-on new gen version, the tile on the dashboard also doesn't show the optimized for Series S|X button. But it looks something beyond than just an Xbox One version running cleaner.

Ah well.

now I wonder if this had any effect when playing it on One X. I bet it could run at close to 4k on that thing

It's a very random upgrade from Ubisoft, but as Syndicate is one of my prefered AC games I'm not complaining. I tried it last night in an old savefile and it really works great. I'm even thinking on replaying the game in the near future.

Now, why the update? Ubisoft trying to regain some good will after all their recent screw ups?

Why Syndicate? Surely everyone that was going to play this has done?
Syndicate was one of the handfull of PS4 games which did not work on PS5 and had huge flicker problems.
I don't think I heard about a patch for this problem, so it might be the first time to play it on a PS5 at all. I don't have the game, so others would have to say if there was a patch.

Yes, a dedicated patch to fix the flickering problem was pushed out last year.

Is anyone able to compare PS5 to PS4 Pro to confirm if the resolution actually improved at all, or PS5 vs Series X? From the video I've seen, the PS5 version image quality seems pretty poor - a lot of shimmering and aliasing. It seems better in video on Series X, but it's hard to compare youtube videos.

Don't know if DF or the like will put out videos since this is a busy period with a new console and all, but just based on the screens posted above from the PS5 version compared to mine from the SX version, it looks like the PS5 version is a bit blurrier.

But that could just be image compression.

Don't think it's related, they patched games before like Far Cry 5, AC Origins and Odyssey. I have no clue what the thought process here, but it seems they are just gradually upgrading their games, and i think this should be very welcome by players.

Hopefully Watch Dogs and Wildlands are on the list.

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I tried going back and playing this... omg the camera is so bad. Massive input lag / deadzone, no options to adjust hardly anything. I remember kinda liking this game initially, but this feels so awful to control, even at 60 fps. Surprisingly disappointing tbh, I was actually pretty excited by this update news. Guess my expectations have been shifted by better devs solving this stuff.

I've been playing this on PC over the last couple weeks. Here are some quick points.
  • Ubisoft usually cooks with their DLC, and Syndicate is no different. I highly recommend getting all the DLC, gold edition, or whatever the fuck the bundle with everything is called.
  • Some of the cutscenes are indeed prerendered. It's mostly the big ones that occur between Sequences. There's a mod for PC that upscales them to 4k60.
  • The cloth physics are capped to 30 fps on all platforms, but you can edit an INI file on PC to tie it to the game's frame rate
  • The game is likely using FXAA on console. MSAA and TXAA are available on PC, but those are so heavy that I doubt they'd use them on console. FXAA is actually always on for PC. I believe it's due to their use of weird LOD or mipmap settings that can cause a lot of noise due to the amount of geometric detail.
  • The PS4 Pro version ran at 1620p, so the jump to 4k isn't going to be that big.
  • The game has an overall very soft appearance, even at high resolutions. This is likely caused by the aforementioned FXAA along with the various PostFX that Ubisoft likes to use. You can mitigate some of this on PC by playing around with the INI file, but I find injecting some sharpening with Reshade while is the best solution.
  • The game actually runs really well now. On my 12700/4090 system I use 2xMSAA+FXAA with 4k DLDSR and cap my fps at 120.
  • Many people use DXVK when running these older DX11 Ubisoft games, but at least for me it didn't result in any kind of performance improvement, though my VRAM and GPU usage jumped significantly. I guess nVidia's drivers are so good that it can smooth over the inefficiencies. If I was running AMD or Intel, though, I'd probably give DXVK a shot
  • The Bleak Weather mod is awesome if you're playing on PC.

So which version is better at the end of the day? Base PS5 or Series X? I own both consoles and I'd love to go back to the game primarily to play it in 60fps.
