Banned for using photo mode psn

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
I don't believe the £40,000 part. But if it's actually true, write to every media you can find and tell them the story. I wouldn't waste more time with the so called Sony support.
I mean, there are thousands of PS4/PS5 games on PSN, and OP did say that the amount of £££ they've spent has been since the PS3 era, which would mean around £3-4k per year.

It’s kind of foolish to spend that amount of money on a digital library in a closed ecosystem like PSN, but it’s not that shocking.

I've personally spent more than €10,000 on PS4, PS5, and Switch software in the past 2 years alone, but it's almost entirely on physical games since I'm also a collector.

I've been permanently banned from PlayStation Network for using the official photo mode in Stellar Blade. Apparently, the automatic upload feature flagged my harmless screenshots as explicit content.
Despite multiple appeals, Sony has refused to lift the ban. This has resulted in the loss of over £40,000 worth of games and complete access to my PSN account.
It's truly absurd that a simple use of an in-game feature could lead to such severe consequences.
I've turned off the automatic upload feature because I've heard stories from people who play Genshin/Honkai/ZZZ getting banned by their photos being flagged as NSFW as well. I'd be destroyed if I lost my psn account from 2008 as I don't even know how much I've spent on it.

Who do you all trust more? OP or Sony Playstation?
Neither one nor the other, without having evidence in front of our eyes, and the user's history, it is impossible to draw any conclusions. For example, we do not know whether this is his first ban or not, whether there were warnings before this or not. We also do not know the information on which Sony made this ban, in fact, there are courts to sort this out. Of course, you can take everyone's word for it, but usually this does not lead to anything good.

All we can do in this case is either take the user's word for it, or believe that Sony did its job correctly or incorrectly. But all this will be our guesses, nothing more =)
Well, and of course to give some advice on how to behave in this situation. If something similar happened to me, and I knew 100% that I was not guilty, I would press with Sony, if there was no response from them, then I would contact the community manager of Stellar Blade and try to solve the problem through them.

Yeh, I'm guessing this is just a troll now...

I'm not sure somebody with the inability to spell simple words has the sort of money to just casually drop 40k on the ps store

Man, I don't know, this has started to sound like trolling at this point, I don't know if it's the grammar, continuously refusing to post the pic and the "soz, I'm innocent welp".

IF I'm wrong, I'll be the 1st one to apologize btw

That's why i buy digital games (usually) when they are dirt cheap and on multiple platforms (Steam, EGS and even on fucking EA launcher and Ubisoft Connect) - I don't trust any of those motherfuckers.

(...)
This. If folks are really steadfast on going down this road, buy games at heavy discounts to minimize your risk/loss. That way the sting will feel less significant.

Did you get in touch with someone human and argue/explain your case? You have to fight for it and not just roll over.

Shit like this can be the result of a poorly optimised technical error. It happens frequently.

Damn, that's cold. I've seen temp bans on xbox for auto-uploads that get shared but never heard of it on PSN when it's just your own stuff to your phone via the app and nobody but you could see it. You sure it deffo didn't get shared to your timeline where someone might have reported it?

Also, have you been suspended before, for this or something else? It just seems so harsh. have you previously shared content from the game with "creative" camera angles?

It's just , in your post in the thread How often do you stop and enjoy the scenery in games? you said...
Steller blade while she on a ladder can take several hours to climb

Not stalking you or anything, just looking for a hint as to why they dialled it right up to a permanent suspension.

You should definitely be raising a stink everywhere you can in all the ways suggested here unless there's more to it you're not saying and want to keep it that way.

I've looked to see if it's happened to anyone else and I can't find anything , but there is a Reddit for the games photo mode that has a lot of questionable photos. lol

You need to reach out to them through other means than e-mail. This might as well be some automated response without a human assessment.

Yep. This kind of thing happened a couple of weeks ago to a Youtuber I follow.

Account erroneously deleted due to alleged spamming, almost certainly by Youtube's automated systems. He appealed the decision, which was denied so quickly that no human could have actually looked into it. He got the channel back after a fuss was made by fans and bigger Youtubers on X, and he actually got to speak to someone.

It's scary how little accountability companies seem to have when they abdicate responsibility for decision making to automated systems. Unless you have enough clout to cause a fuss, or money to lawyer up, the outcome often seems to be "sucks to be you".

The email references a suspension period when does it end?

A banned PSN account, as well as a permanently banned account on Neogaf.

Then he prints the picture and shows it to family members and friends, and when he's a total social outcast he simply shows it to some random cop on the streets to complete his Grand Slam.

My god mate. That's devastating. I'd be cancelling those pending preorders and getting onto a lawyer asap.

No fucking way would I stand for these cunts taking 60Ks worth of my my money over a screenshot of something created with content they deemed safe for use using tools they provided.

Hope you get it sorted.

I'm nobody I'm nobody - you need to reach out to news sites of varying sizes and hope they can kick up a fuss. (And Twitter/X etc)
But they will probably ask you to share the screenshots as well so they can see what the drama is all about.

Or you can wipe your consoles of data, sell em and put the cash towards a PC.

Share this on X. Perhaps it will get more attention helping your case.

It's Sony so chances are slim, but no harm in trying.

Fuxking seriously my guy ?
Who elected you as the arbiter of what people should or shouldn't do ? Who asked for your permission? Jesus Christ at the smugness - i hate using derogatory terms but...that would be considered as hardcore 'sperging...
"Zero sympathy" LMAO
I'm dead serious. I'm not claiming to be the arbiter of anything "my guy". I'm just expressing my opinion that I don't feel sorry for people that lose their digital content. Just like I don't feel sorry if a guy scales buildings with his bare hands falls to his death. you have to live with the choices you make.

You don't own digital content, you're just allowed to use it as long as the rights holder says you can and they can revoke that on any whim they choose. That's what you agree to in the terms of service so they can do whatever they want with "your" purchases. I will always speak up in favor of physical games and true ownership so I'm not sorry if my comment "triggered" people.

I did express my sympathy on the ban reason, which is nonsense if true, and contrary to most people feeling sorry for the OP, I actually gave him a solution to get his account that will work like 90% of the time. Negative publicity on social media is the bane of these companies, they will almost always rectify the situation if there's public outcry.

And this right here( real or fake) is why I refuse to buy digital unless I absolutely have to. If we ever get to an all digital game future, I’m out.

Raise a stink on social media. Contact the press about the issue. Also try some YouTubers that can raise a stink about this issue, they love this sort of shit.

More expensive route is a legal battle, and no guarantee that would work either.

Always absurd no matter who does it. If the content comes from a game they sell on the store why on earth could you not take a screenshot? They should flag these things and make them viewable only the user, shadow banning the individual pictures/posts from the network.

I don't understood how this could even happen.

If I was you then I would get in touch with Sony and ask them how a game like Stellar Blade allows the player to take pictures that are deemed as 'explicit content' in the first place when it is running on fixed hardware with no ability to tweak or edit the content like you will likely be able to in the forthcoming PC version for example (you can bet that there will be nude mods at least). Sony publish that game and, therefore, approved the use of a Photo mode in a game with a scantily clad and sexualised female character. So what did they expect exactly from the photo mode?

I would also contact Trading Standards and see what they say about this because I think Sony are very much in the wrong here, even if the images were intentionally posed for a smutty screenshot. I mean what is the worse you can do in the game anyway... zoom in on the lead character's breasts/arse/crouch?

At the end of the day, the graphics and game content are the responsibility of the developer who coded and Sony who published the game, and if they allow the user to take screenshots in the game then they are ultimately responsible for the results. This is not a Minecraft or LittleBigPlanet style game where the user can create offensive content so I am curious as to what the 'explicit' content was in the first place here.

Also, I find it hard to believe that Sony would perma-ban a user for a first time offence so has this happened before and you chose to just ignore it?

We can’t make a judgment on this until the original picture is shared.

This seems extremely unlikely, they know all the weebs are taking photos of Eve so I doubt you could get banned permanently for this. I would think you’ll be reinstated as you sound like an absolute cash cow to Sony, why would they want to ban you? It would be of no benefit to them.
This, I want to know the full context as it sounds like shit is being left out to create some narrative.

I just don't know if you understand how little Sony customer service employees are authorized to say about virtually anything. I'm convinced they are employed specifically to not do anything.
