The political agenda is in the game. Like it or not, the devs are the ones who decide to go down this road. All gamers do is react to it. For myself, pronouns alone are not enough for me to forego trying the game out, but if others feel they need to be true to their principles then that's their choice. I just see this as inserting needless controversy myself.

Nothing about the game screamed "buy me" anyways. Generic the game. And yeah, I played their last game The Outer Worlds, and the message was either in your face or lurking in all the shadows. No surprise if this game takes it up a notch from even Veilguard.
I will look forward to learning more and be entertained by how ridiculous it is and save money. Win win for me.
I also expect many will love the game because the remaining 90% of the game is "good". Just need to overlook it fellas. Can't see all the woke past the good graphics and high frame rate.

It's just the way we are doing it now, it's a better system. People are posting the MS org chart with the pronouns listed, but that is the norm in the corporate world. No-one wants to put 'male' in their email signature - but ironically without specifying pronouns you are pushing for people to use they or them unless you think most people can tell which pronouns to use for Ravindra or Si-woo.

Just look at the state of the industry.
Look at things that are standard in games now, that you'd never even dream of 15 years ago. Games that are not playable at launch without a day 1 patch. Games that you buy with actual money, but STILL have lootboxes and microtransactions. Pre-order bonuses that are designed to prey on people's FOMO. DLC to add content to games that should have been part of the base game, at an additional charge. Utterly ridiculous.
People kind of complained about it, but then when it came down to it, bought the games and participated in the fuckery anyway. The degradation of this industry as an artform and source of entertainment has consistently been eroded for the last 15 years. Creativity has gone to die. Games can't have a small budget and be modestly successful. Everything is homogenised and generic, with different splashes of paint. There are a few exceptions here and there, as there always are, but the fun has been sucked out for years.
Pronouns are ruining games? Nah fuck that. The games would still be boring garbage irrespective of the presence of pronouns or body types or whatever. Notice how nobody cared about this in Balder's Gate 3 cause the base game was just good.
Quality is all that matters. Superficial things like pronouns and whatever don't matter at all.

I dunno man. The company I work for doesn't make you put your pronouns anywhere. Instead we have a profile pic which makes really obvious who's a man and who's a woman. Plus you can also use they/them if you don't know the gender of that person, which isn't bad nor woke, just the normal use of those pronouns.

No one in the corporate world had any need to specify pronouns or gender in emails or any other discourse outside of the trans agenda for doing so. Let's not pretend this "system" was born out of a need to clarify ambiguous names and not out of identity politics because it absolutely was about identity politics.

Yeah, not sure that’s accurate. I work for an extremely large company that’s very progressive and we don’t have pronouns anywhere unless someone manually adds them in their email signature.
Our client tried adding system wide pronouns to our email address but they fucked up and made all men (she/her) and all women (he/him). After that they were never seen again.

The tech industry and creatives are overwhelmingly super far left liberals, to the tune of 95%+. There is no reality in the entire Marvel multiverse where you're going to have 1000s of people making a game and not have it pushing some kind of bipoc lesbian pronoun. They will stage mass walkouts against anyone who pushes back, like ole Jimbo found out when he sent that benign ass memo asking people to respect each other's opinions on abortion. Was probably a big part of why he was fired, the heads of most of his studios probably told Japan they and most of their people were leaving if Jim wasn't dealt with.

And btw I don't think "it's over" at all. Sure, the western AAA landscape is full of shit but there's still tons of quality games coming out that aren't filled with the stuff you complain about.
