Avowed has pronouns

Avowed is an enigma too me. I was damn excited when I saw the very first teaser. Then I lost more and more interest as more gameplay was shown. My interest has gradually climbed back. However, my interest took another huge nosedive once I saw that there would be no romance options.

However, I think at best it will be a very mid 7/10 game. Microsoft has done NOTHING (Flight Simulator being the latest example) to convince me that they have what it takes to manage studios to release a truly great game.

Could Avowed end up being legit good? Sure, but anyone expecting it to be great is just a hopeless fanboy Xbox cult member who should seek professional help.

That’s cool man, if you want to be triggered constantly, you do you.
Yeah, I don't really get it either. It's a constant, "Can you believe this side did this? I hate it!" coming from all "sides", it's exhausting. It generally feels like everyone is triggered about everything and nothing, lol.

In my opinion, it's a role playing game, so people enjoy customization of all forms to immerse themselves. Which, I guess could include pronouns. Sure, that may not be for everyone, but you could say the same thing about elements in character customizers. It's just another "thing" to interact with if you care. Or, not at all if you don't. It's easily ignorable much like all things.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I miss when people were more concerned about games being fun and good, rather than all the other nonsense.

Ok… so… don’t subscribe to this whole pronoun thing. But our corporation has had people opt to put them in their email titles for about close to 4 years now (not mandatory). I just ignore it.

Yes it’s a bit strange and annoying. But as an adult we can choose to ignore these things too and not let us get affected. Get used to games all doing this. Again, weird… sure. It is what it is. Let it run its course and die of its own volition because it will.

At this point I don’t think it’s rational to discuss or argue - some developers will ship games with pronouns and some won’t.

As a customer you should or can do:
  • Ignore it as they have no impact on the gameplay.
  • If it bothers you - get a mod that removes it.
  • Ultimately, don’t buy the game.
Solved.
But i dont wanna buy this game and at the same time i want to talk shit about this game on social medias to pushback the agenda tho 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just saw this and figured we should discuss.

Whether you mean it or not, this is a resetera-level line.

'[x] is identified in product/statement. [x] has frequently been a subject of controversy, typically derision on forum I visit. I shall post a topic on forum about [x] in product/statement.' You know how this will go down, has already gone down. What 'we should discuss' means is an OK sign to dogpile the topic with trashy, angry one-liners. This is all underscored by a quote from Elon Musk, a man who is not an SME and is not providing any useful insight. An innocent request for discussion would not be followed by such a conclusive quotation.

If you want to rage against pronouns, just go all in. Better would be to just not post anything at all or to use your foreknowledge that GAF will froth at the topic to put some guardrails in the OP post to (hopefully, probably largely in vein) curb the worst tendencies of some posters.

Not exactly at my best here, but this shit is pissing me off, and ignoring it has not made it go away.

Big oof. Guess that’s the hill I’ll die on.

My favorite part was “I won’t let them change reality!” … we’re talking about a fantasy RPG where you interact with dwarfs and wizards and elves 🤭

I just hope this is one of those things where personality is exaggerated on the internet and these people arent like this in the real world.

I think the majority just don't give a damn to be quite honest. But on the internet all of the "sides" make it seem a lot larger than it really is. At least in my experience.

I mean, my god, life will put you through things that you have absolutely no control over. It will try you in ways you could never possibly imagine at times. Why choose to get upset or frustrated about the smallest and most random things that just exist? It sounds so damn tiring. Every day there's some new "thing" on Twitter from these rage grifters. Which triggers people on opposite sides, and then it's just a spiral of "rage". What a waste of emotion, time, and energy.

I assume a lot of them don’t have much going on in their lives so they focus on this. It’s a lot like a nosy old neighbor who complains about everything and makes every perceived slight into a mission. It must be an exhausting existence. But to each their own.

What's the problem? It's the same as male/female, in this video game it's he/him or she/her instead.. 🤷‍♂️

Meh. As long as the game's good I really couldn't give a fuck. It's you have a problem with this then the issue is with you, not the game.

If it's just optional pronouns then I really don't see the issue. This alone wouldn't stop me from playing it.

This... This is how they get you.

They conflate the difference between identifiers, so much to the point that people confuse/mix the meanings, until it becomes preferably irrelevant to using, at all.
