Silent Hill 2 remake. Playing it slowly. At the hospital now.

Witchfire. Amazing gunplay, movement and art style. Just entered Gnosis 2. Don’t know if it will become too hard for me at higher levels but feels great so far playing with controller.

After putting it off for decades, I finally decided to give Symphony of the Night a shot.

I can honestly say it's worth the hype once you really get in it. The amount of care and detail they put into this game is mind blowing. There's a lot of exploration needed, but I never feel "stuck".

Metaphor Refantazio, 24 Hours in, incredible game.
I'm 70 hours in and it only got better.

I keep wanting to play something else. I took a two day break to play through Ori and the Blind Forest (amazing game). I keep thinking I should play something else to give myself another break from Metaphor, but then I boot up Metaphor and just play it all day.

I meant to start Quantum Break by now.

I don't know when Ys Nordics will fit in.

Sometime around 2012 I played it for the first time. I didn't get it. I finished the game in two play sessions, found it easy and boring. I even wrote a review of it on the old PlayStation collecting forums.

I decided to give it another try two years ago. Holy shnikes. It ended up being one of the best games I have ever played. This time I actually explored, discovered all the character stories, and played through the entire game. When I was done, I immediately wanted to start over. I also bought the Japanese OST CD.

Earth Defence Force 4.1, for a second playthrough. 3 players this time, my first playthrough was 2 player.

we just finished EDF6 together, and we had lust for more. especially since one of us hadn't played EDF4 much. he played a bit of EDF2024 on 360, but not 4.1

Same here I played all day yesterday

I'm planning on playing more tommorow

Everytime I do a play session of the game I highly enjoy my time with it and get addicted to playing it

The Thaumaturge - reached Act 2. I like the story, but damn, combat is boring
Yakuza Kiwami 2 - just started chapter 8. Some unecessary fillers here and there, but game is overall solid so far
Astro Bot - unlocked 4th galaxy

Silent Hill 2 Remake
Got out of the prison and made my way to the maze area.

Metaphor: ReFantazio
Still really early in the game. Currently going after the necromancer fella.

Parasite Eve
On day 4. I wonder if there are any cool unlockables for finishing the game.

I got 12 hours into Hogwart's Legacy, then gave it up. I don't have the patience for this stuff anymore. After 12 hours, the game was still warming up, still introducing me to characters, mechanics, skills, features... I wasn't doing a lot of side activities, either, but trying to stick mostly to the main path. After all that time, I still felt like I was being led around by the nose like a sophomore. Let's get going already! Other games would have already finished by now, and yet I don't even feel like I'm off the launch pad yet. I used to have more patience for these slow-build games, but I don't anymore.

Tried Night in the Woods. The writing is cheeky, but I doubt I'll continue. I don't like games that mostly involve reading text bubbles. If I want to read a story, I'll read a story, not play a game.

I am still continuing my Indie-Snob-Reject-AAA story arc.

Just got Coven which released for Steam as a throw back to horror boomer shooters.

Good stuff so far.

Beat it in 2 play sessions? How is that possible?

I'm getting close (I think) to unlocking the inverted castle, and I'm starting to slow down because I don't want this to end. Are the Game Boy Advance Castlevania games a good follow up to SOTN?

Yeah. The first one is a good challenge but kinda simple, the second one is easier but imo a bit better with a cool mechanic that I won't spoil and the third, Aria of Sorrow, might be even better than SOTN at least gameplay-wise.

Jumped back in to Dark souls 3 again but this time on PC. I've moved over my Souls-fix to PC due to free online as it's fun to play these games online and I don't want to sub to Sonys crappy PS plus service. DS3 looks absolutely sublime on the ROG Ally. I can't believe we've come this far in handheld gaming. 60 fps too. Even though I prefer DS 1 and 2 over 3, DS3 is my most played game in the franchise due to how good it plays mechanically. It is such a joy to play. It's also the best looking Souls game, absolutely phenomenal art direction. The DLC is awesome and it has some kick ass boss fights. I also think 3 has the best NPC quest lines, with my favorites being Greirat and Siegward. And of course, Trusty Patches. Man, I fucking love this game.

In anticipation for Ghost of Yotei, I started Ghost of Tsushima a couple of weeks ago, and now, just platinumed it. Amazing open-world design, fun combat (although a bit easy and repetitive), and great story-telling with an emotional ending.

Not sure if that’s your living area, but if so it’s beautiful. Looks like a very nice house.

Almost all of the "content" is optional, and I believe the other half of the castle only appears if you do certain actions to trigger it. I went in completely blind, knew nothing about the game, and was watching the credits roll in just a few hours played. It was the "bad" ending, I guess. I didn't care. The game was easy and boring, so I moved on.

Finished:

The Callisto Protocol + DLC
I went into this not quite sure what to expect considering the negative reception it received and I ended up loving it. I also played Deadspace Remake earlier this year and I would I would say I enjoyed both equally.

Presentation wise it was amazing. Superb visuals, audio and atmosphere. I personally really liked the combat with its mix of melee and gunplay. Would give the nod to Deadspqce
Though. I think they could have expanded the melee with a bit more depth. I wasn’t a fan of the healing as it wasn’t terribly helpful during combat and basically useless for boss fights. Luckily the other health pick ups that add a little health instantly helped.

I liked Jacob’s character more than Isaac, not sure why. Just found him likeable. I think I preferred the setting in Callisto a bit more than the Ishimura.

Took me about 10hrs with the campaign and DLC and definitely well worth it. Really hoping for a sequel!

Currently playing:

Mech Warrior 5 Clans
I’m a little addicted to this at the moment. I wasn’t sure about it initially as I’ve never played a mech warrior game and it does require time to adjust to the controls and configuring your mech and clan. They do a poor job at explaining things , so some light YouTubing might be required to get your head around the gameplay. Everything has clicked now Though.

Loving the game. It’s awesome fighting other mechs with lasers and missiles flying everywhere. It feels good to upgrade your mech and clan and start to stomp the enemy. It’s bloody hard though. Interesting enough story, though I’m only on the second world.

Hogwarts Legacy
I haven’t started yet though intend to this weekend. Got the Digital Deluxe version on sale with 70% off so decided to finally pull the trigger and buy it.

I’ve also got The Lake House to play through this weekend. Should be able to wrap it up pretty quickly.l, so I can make space for Black Ops 6

Road of Sacrifices now in DS3. Running a strength faith build with Earth Seeker in mind. I've only done a build like this one time before and I recall having great fun with it so gonna try again. I usually do hybrids but I'm more into dex intelligence or a pyro build. This time I'm going to crank up faith as much as I can ans see how powerful it gets.

I also played a couple of hours of Aliens Colonial Marines. I've heard horror stories about this one and I always wanted to check it out. Not too shabby so far. The aliens are stupid and it's a little too much dudebro in dialogue and tone, but it got great atmosphere and gunplay, mixed with a soundtrack that almost sound like James Horner's original score, which is good enough for me.

Finishing Yakuza Infinite Wealth, I'm currently on the "finale" chapter leveling up and upgrading some gear before the final boss.
Overall really enjoyed it, the new location is great and the combat is a lot better than in the previous one. That said the story, while not bad, hasn't been quite as engaging as in previous games, and there were a few parts with Kyriu around the middle that really killed the pacing.

I started Quantum Break today as a "break" from Metaphor (of which I estimate I am 80% through). I'm not sure what to think of it. It kind of feels like I am just along for the ride.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
This month has been insane in terms of the games I've played (and plan to play the rest of the couple of days).

So far in October I've played:

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead
Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
Metaphor RE:Fantazio
Silent Hill 2
Until Dawn remake
Indika
Alan Wake 2: Lake House DLC
Black Ops 6

Finished the Claire 2nd run on RE2 remake. Was a bit dissappointed tbh, was expecting her storyline to take place in different environments but basically end up moving around the same map. Had fun but now that I've played through both characters don't really feel like I need to replay

Playing Resident Evil 3 (PS1). The original PS1 games still hold up and worth playing.

The "remakes" are great too, but honestly they are really completely new games. They should be called reimaginings. I consider something like the Crash and Spyro games as remakes, not the Resident Evil games.

Game time has been limited lately so most of it has been spent on Metaphor, which is a huge time sink.

The rest I have been spending on Echo: The Oracle's Scroll, a charming and polished little hybrid of Celeste and Metroidvania for the Playdate. It features Metroidvania exploration and progression, but there's no combat, and levels that emphasize platforming challenges instead. Great little game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Started the main campaign and multiplayer.. enjoying it so far. Played quite a few matches and its a bit too sweaty for me so will play campaign and chill with that for a while. At least until the season starts.

Also restarted Alan Wake 2 as I dropped it late last year.

DragoonKain

Neighbours from Hell
Started Alone in the Dark on PS5. I know reviews on it were kinda meh, but I'm continuing my survival horror in October. This is last on my list. I'm not very far in at all, only like an hour, but so far it's decent. I assume I will encounter many things I dislike along the way at some point though.

Finished Amnesia: The Bunker. Now I'm chasing after trophies. I sort of have a love / hate relationship with this game. I think it had a good idea, but was somewhat let down by the execution. Again, the monster ultimately became annoying, rather than something you were actively scared of.

The map and level design in DS3 is the coolest thing ever. First we get the beautiful scenic shot of the world when you step out from High Wall of Lothric, which I totally love by the way, and when you actually traverse the map, you can see the different locations from various points of interests you come by. There was stuff like this in DS1 and 2, but not to the extent of 3, which is doing this in an amazing fashion. There are some truly gorgeous vistas in this game.

I guess... if you like swamps, leapfrogging half the game, and the longest elevators/ladders/falls ever for the sake of fitting all this randomness together.

You can't die before your death
Done with FFRebirth. Whew, that final battle. What an amazing game all around. Good balance in terms of difficulty. I only had an issue with one very technical battle in the game. The improvements from Remake to this are very impressive.

I finished this game recently:

It's called Exophobia and it's an indie boomer shooter metroidvania sort of thing. You start the game with basically nothing and as you get upgrades to your mobility/weapon, you unlock access to other areas via destroyable things or changes in mobility the 4 levels of the space station you are on slowly open up as you go. It has a cool look and good music when it's there. It probably took me about 8 hours taking my time, though I didn't find all the easter eggs and collectible things. Either way, I really enjoyed it and didn't realize I was into "boomer shooters" but I guess I am, so open to recommendations on that side of things.

I also have been playing lately "The Crimson Diamond". It's a text parser with EGA visuals, so an adventure game like old Sierra games. It's really good too.

Otherwise I have really been fiending for an Elder Scrolls type experience lately, but I think I will hold out for KCD2... even though it was delayed.

I've wanted to play more lately, but haven't felt the energy to do so! :(

Halfway through Astro Bot. Ridiculously fun and creative. The gameplay is snappy and everything moves in a quick pace. The level design is excellent and the different locations are full of surprises and easter eggs to find. The game is basically a large celebration of Playstation history, but also of video games itself. Every stage so far has looked fantastic. Bright colors, cool effects and creative use of the Dualsense. The feeling I get from Astro Bot is kinda like playing Super Mario 64 for the first time. It's that good and inventive.

Started into Mafia II remastered. It's good so far, I like it. Good characters and dialog. Driving and shooting seem solid. I'm just getting started, though, so we'll see how it plays out. I didn't play the first Mafia, so hopefully I'm not missing anything. It seems like an independent story, as far as I can tell.

Started RE4R this weekend and just got to Ashley. It’s an absolute joy. I don’t want to finish the village 😂

Feels a fair bit more difficult than the original but feels well balanced after coming from FFXVI which was way too easy.
