It's Halloween month, so I'm currently playing the Dead Space Remake. Very good but Isaac's slow ass "Sprinting" is annoying. I'm at chapter 4 currently on Hard and this Boss fight is giving me a hard time indeed

I saw lot of people get excited for that game but to me it looks like another janky meme game similar to goat simulator which was funny at first but the novelty wears off pretty quickly.

Indeed it is a janky meme game. I do enjoy those from time to time, such as Goat Simulator.

The jumping is…weird. It feels sticky but if you press forward mid-jump it propels you forward with an odd momentum. And I’m not sure how the open levels are, but the tutorial has a horrible checkpoint system. I died in the second room and the game didn’t save. I was sent back to the beginning of the first room. I had to do that room all over again. That type of design is so archaic. It doesn’t respect the player’s time, in my opinion. I’ll try again but I hope the save system opens up after the tutorial.

A few people recommended Enlisted. It is an MMO WWII squad based shooter. I'm in a very finnicky gaming mood (what else is new these days...) so this is worth a try. It is free to play, which doesn't entice me, but I cannot judge it without giving it a chance. Wish me luck, or something! :messenger_grinning_sweat:

In the Labyrinth area in Silent Hill 2 and it pretty much kills the game for me. Absolute trash. It's pitch black and you barely see a thing. And then you have these monkey like monsters climbing underneath, screaming and whipping me in a frenzy. Had to put the game in high contrast mode to even see where the fuck I'm going. Major downer on a terrific game.

Darksiders 2 Remaster
- One of my favorite games of all time. The puzzles, combat, music and epic scale of world and massive structures are combined into one incredible game that really resonates with me.

Starfield - I'm playing Shattered Space and then hopefully I will finish the game shortly after that. Another game that has become one of my all time favorites. I really focus on exploration (the Constellation kiosk missions) and combined with the dynamic time of day and planet movement, etc. along with the excellent combat and jetpack on low gravity planets all together make it really hit a sweet spot that no other game really can.

Forza Motorsport - The atmosphere in this game is best in class! The RTAO lighting is incredible and along with dynamic time of day/weather just make this an immersive experience like no other racing game. The racing and handling are both sublime! The A.I. Drivatars are dynamic, fun and challenging.

Battlefield 2042 - I'm a Battlefield Whore and have been ever since Bad Company 2 ...and 2042 is actually my favorite of them all. I still am impressed with the epic scale and size that create such awesome atmosphere and gameplay.

Halo Infinite multiplayer - I've been playing Halo multiplayer regularly since the first game 23 years ago and still love it as much as ever!

PC

Total War Pharaoh
- I absolutely LOVE this game just like all the other Total War games. They are one of the reasons I got into PC gaming. Warhammer 3 is next!

Homeworld 3 - I'm loving this game as well. This and Sins of a Solar Empire 2 (which I'm playing next) are also games that persuaded me into PC gaming

Frozen Synapse - I was addicted to this game many years ago on iPad. Such a cool and unique game that I believe is sort of the precursor to Breach & Clear and Door Kickers.

Finished Luigi's Mansion 2. Which means I got this part:

I'm at the final mansion and I have to go back to finishing the game. This mission I'm on is where you have to suck up all the ghosts under a invisible time limit. It's just tedious at times and I'll eventually go back to the game but that mission especially annoyed the shit out of me. Since I either kept on dying or that invisible time limit ran out

Luckily I finished that section on my first try but I had your post in the back of my head the whole time as the pace of the music picked up and the lighting got darker and darker. It's a hard game to rate since I absolutely adore the level design and all the gags found in each room, but on the other hand, the act of ghost busting crosses into tedium territory long before the credits roll and I wasn't trying to collect all the gems or boos. I really hate how abruptly a mission can end which pulls you away from the strongest point of the game in exploration. And as much as like visiting the locales, I don't think I'd want to backtrack and deal with all the forced ghost busting. That's partly due to controls and partly due to how the game handles escalation. I think I would have been much happier if I'd have sucked up 50% fewer ghosts in my playthrough. Just like in LM3, the economy is kind of busted. I got the final upgrade in World 4 and I imagine you'd get it much sooner if you were revisiting missions to collected missed gems and boos. The upgrades are important for busting shielded ghosts so I understand why the progression work they way it does but they could have added in something to incentivize players to keep collecting money (let me buy a winter coat for the snow level). Variety in ghost design is fine, they just get overused. There are no stand out boss battles either and I thought a lot of the later encounters were bad. It's a game I want to love and there is an aspect that I certainly do, everything else though just erodes that love to something I never want to play again.

Yeah when I go back to the game I know I have that mission and than the final mission to get though

The mansion look fantastic in HD but I hate how I can't explore the mansions in full and have to adher to the mission structure. Like you said though it really makes the game tedious. I wish they did more than just a remaster of the game. By the third Mansion I just stopped really caring about getting all the boos and all the gems.

I only played Luigi Mansion 3 and so far that's my favorite game in that franchise. I got all the Boos and all the Gems on each floor

There probably wasn't the budget for this release, but it being re-imagined and ditching the mission structure would have been interesting.

I really enjoyed LM3 but it does have some of the same faults, especially in regards to the economy. I think the original is still my favorite as the short run time better suits what these games have to offer but games that short seem taboo these days.

That's understandable

My issues with Luigi Mansion 3 is that you collect all these money and you don't have a lot to spend it on like costumes or something

Also I hated the Poltercat Encounters. I felt those were padding. That Piano boss was BS at times. The two final bosses were tough for me

Also tying the ranking of your playthrough based off how much money you spend was stupid. I ended up getting a C Grade since I got all the upgrades and I went through the hassle to get every Gem and Boo. I didn't know to get an A Grade Ranking, you can't spend any of the money you vacuumed up

LM3 is my first game in that Franchise I played and finished. So far it's my favourite. I just loved exploring the Mansion and not to mention it's the Switch best looking game by a mile

Starship Troopers: Extermination isn't going well in the single player campaign. I'm not sure if I will stick with it.

Powerwash Simulator devs have confirmed that the infinite loading screen bug cannot be fixed. The only option is to delete all save data and start all over. Fuck. That. Noise. It is totally unacceptable. They should offer to give affected players all of the equipment and gear that is lost by deleting save data. They keep pumping out DLC, though. What a shitty indictment of the current shitty industry this is, when even dime-a-dozen simulator games devs' are this greedy and tone deaf.

Iron Meat platinum still isn't happening. Not even close.

Ghost of Tsushima continues to offer small bursts of enjoyment during the early game.

I was going to pass on COD BO6, but sadly that might be my next purchase, just to have something to play.

My gaming life has been a mess for years and there is no end in sight. Sucks to be me! haha

Thank you. I wasn't even done with the career, but I believe I had gone pretty far along. I was also taking my time and completing every objective on every level for 100%, and I was also trophy hunting every level. I intended to see and play every level across all modes, and try for the platinum trophy. I enjoyed the game that much. Something the devs did in an update corrupted A LOT of people's save files, causing this bug. They keep apologizing so at least they aren't ignoring their fuck-up, yet they are very silent about doing anything at all to offer some type of compensation. I'm usually not one of those people to cry for compensation, but plenty of people are being vocal about their disappointment. The game has a pretty passionate and supportive fanbase, but even they're pissed off about this one.

I played through it on my deck and cleaned every level (no DLC) completely. Most of the time I wasn't even sure why I was playing the game...it just has this weird addictive quality to it, but I sure was glad when it was over as it was a pretty big time sink. I can't imagine how pissed I'd be with your experience

SH2 Remake and SH: Homecoming right now.

Might go into Fatal Frame next, but not sure which one.

October has been damn good Survival Horror gaming, just riding it out and trusting my instincts when I decide what I want to play next.

My friend gave me his Xbox One S earlier this year to use for playing Xbox 360 games. I decided to buy my very first Xbox One game. I wasn't even sure if I would like it, as I have never even seen it in action. It was $6 on sale. I thought I'd take a break from Metaphor ReFantazio.

I have been playing it non-stop for two days. I am cleaning up a few collectables then heading to the final area. What a fun game. If I had known I would enjoy this so much, I would have bought the sequel as well. I'll be waiting for a sale, as I refuse to buy digital games outside of significant discounts.

I used the Xbox video calibration on my LG C1 earlier today, and now the game looks amazing. I had been using my standard game mode calibration. I decided to try the Xbox instructions to calibrate it in cinema mode, and let ALLM do it's thing. I use the TV for my old PS4 Pro as well. Too bad it doesn't have a similar calibration tool.

I’m still playing Metaphor and just reached second city…the part you need present a head you hunted
the story is getting soooo damn good and I’m still baffled how this game managed to keep T rating.

I’m gonna have a hard time choosing between Metaphor and Unicorn Overlord as my GOTY.

Mechwarrior 5 Clans - feels smoother and looks better than mercs, interested to see how the change in direction (narrative vs sandbox) sits with me.

D4 - still the same old addictive loop, looking to complete VOH story, but jumping back and forth between seasonal content and MQ (swore I would never create seasonal characters, but here we are)

New World Aeternum - played a bunch on PC years ago, so happy to pick up the polished product on PS5.

Wayfinder- pretty fantastic gem, waiting for 1.0 this month before investing further though, about 15 hours in on PS5

Sins of solar empire 2, mechabellum, Vicky 3, all getting some air time as well via GFN

First four career levels in Powerwash Simulator are done. I'm into the Playground now, and washing the Stegoslide. I'm still using the default sprayer and nozzles.

I wanted to mess with Ghost of Tsushima some more, but Powerwash took up all of my time haha.

I've been spending a ton of free time playing through Forza Horizon 4 since they had the complete game on sale for $20 a month ago. God, I love racing games with a wheel and pedal setup. Playing at 4k really helps the immersion too. All racing games need cockpit view.

In the prison bit. Finding it pretty tense tbh.

Got my copy of Metaphor: ReFantazio arriving tomorrow. Looking forward to getting stuck into that over the weekend.

Thanks for reminding me. This is the game that will be delisted soon, right? I am waiting, assuming the price goes to the same or less just before it poofs forever. The game is maximum price on the store right now. ($80 CAD)

I really enjoy the first game on Xbox 360. I just got into playing it this year. I played the demo of 4 and it was pretty much the same, except the season thing confused me. "Wait until autumn" was next on my quest list, and I was playing it in May. I'm thinking, what sort of bullshit live service is this? I have since come to understand that the seasons change each week.

I bought Motorsport 4 and it was... okay. Felt more generic, like Gran Turismo. AI drivers were awful, each race was like an obstacle course. Horizon is much more fun.

Yeah sometime in December it delists. It looks like the ultimate edition has been dropping to $20 pretty regularly this year.

Finishing up Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn (PS4), DLC and its trophies. Need that 100% completion. :D Next up, I got a bunch of stuff to play, but I might start Trepang2 (PS5), since I heard it is quite short.

Last time I played Halo MCC in its entirety was on the release of the XSX. It was aging then, but man I just cant do it all again. I got as far as half way through Halo 2 and just cant carry on. Fond farewell. But I'm done for good with it now.

I'm now going to do Halo 5 though as whilst not amazing, doesn't feel so damn dated. And doesn't have some of the bugs MCC has.

Fingers crossed for the Halo CE remake. I'd love an entire full remake of Halo MCC.

Finally got out of the Labyrinth area in SH2. That shit was not fun. I hate maze like game design. It's confusing and just creates a lot of stress, even more so in a game like this where the pulse is already high. The whole area was overly dark and the main puzzle was annoying. It brought down the pace to a crawl , which was excellent before, and just made the game tedious and frustrating. It's an area that's making me hesitant to do a repeat playthrough, that's how bad it was. Really soured my experience with the game.

Wukong, Still chapter 4 .

Can’t kill a guy that killed the 3 spider sister . I need an item so I’m search for it in a special area.

But I did clear astrobot 100% when I was also playing wukong. That game is unstoppable.

Purchased three games full launch prices in a month, I don't even remember the last time I did that, granted I was disappointed by the first, then the second. Currently playing Metaphor and D4 DLC (and I should force myself to continue FFXVI that I don't like unfortunately).

I feel you. Have played these games countless times, know every level in and out. Middle of Halo 2 is where I sit right now. Even with mods it's tough. I might skip the rest of H2 and try some modded Halo 3. Modded Halo CE was amazing.

Played a couple of hours of Resident Evil on GOG, who has released the original trilogy in a bundle on their storefront. I've only played the console versions before on PS (original and DC) so it was interesting to see how the game fared in this new PC-release.

The first thing I want to address is that this version reinstates the uncensored, colored intro that was missing in both the original and the Directors Cut version (we here in the EU got a censored, black and white version instead). The cut scenes are also uncensored, with the most notable example being the famous shot of the first zombie appearance, where he bites off the head of Stars member Kenneth. Here in the uncensored version you get to see Kenneths decapitated head fall on the carpet where in the censored version it was left out. To my knowledge, this is the first time this has happened in any previously released version of RE, so right off the bat, GOG proves they are based as fuck.

Other improvements are the character models. They look great and are vastly improved. They don't look like choppy polygonal blocks anymore, which was common on Playstation back in the day, they look like actual real people, which helps with the immersion. The game runs at 1080p at 120hz which makes for super smooth gameplay. They have removed the use of ink ribbons so now you can save anytime you want. A blessing if you ask me. But the most important improvement of them all is that you can actually skip the door loading animation. Yep, one press of the button and you skip the whole loading sequence. This is fantastic as watching the door animation gets tedious as hell when you've played the game multiple times like I have.

I consider this version as superior. It's a great way to rediscover (or discover, if it's your first time) Resident Evil in all its 1996 glory. GOG is doing Lord's work preserving these classics and making small but pivotal adjustments to them so they feel modernized without losing their nostalgic charm.

Played the hell out of it when it released and also enjoyed everything you mentioned. Even modded it and played it again with 30fps video, classic camera angles, Dreamcast character models, remastered backgrounds, and quick turn. It is so good to have a copy I can fire up on PC.

P.S. The ink ribbons are only absent in Jill's campaign (i.e. Easy Mode).

This is another reason why discs are superior. I sold that game a week after release for just a bit less than I paid. I suffered 30 hours before realizing it wasn’t going to get any better.

I bet people are more likely to drudge through bad games when they are stuck with the digital version.
Yeah, if I had it on disk, I would have sold it already. I shouldn't fool myself, I won't go back I think. I'm 16 hours in.

Just Seamless HD Project mod but there are randomizers and other ones around. Getting it to work is a pain.

1. Download Japanese version from GOG.
2. Install DLL and 1.01 Patch from https://classicrebirth.com/index.php/downloads/resident-evil-classic-rebirth/
3. Install HD mod from https://www.moddb.com/mods/resident-evil-hd-mod
4. Install Seamless HD Project mod from https://www.moddb.com/mods/resident...ent-evil-seamless-hd-project-for-pc-mediakite
5. Install Seamless HD Project patch from https://www.moddb.com/mods/resident-evil-seamless-hd-project/downloads/re-shdp-patch-1-1

If you have an AMD card then you will also need to...
6. Install dgVoodoo ver. 2.64 from https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/
*Setup details are at the Classic REbirth site in the FAQ section.

When you do all that you get this:

P.S. Jill uses ribbons in the modded version.

I tried installing Rebirth but since I'm using AMD I got weird graphical glitches. Gonna try downloading dgvoodoo and see if it helps. Thanks! 🙏
Bear in mind that the application has a memory limit set by the video card emulated and the game crashes once its reached. I am pretty sure I can run it for about an hour with 2GB setting.

Hogwart's Legacy. I'm about 12 hours in and getting bogged down. I don't feel like my time with the game is being rewarded with sufficient fun/interest/enjoyment. It's odd, because when this happens with a book, I have no trouble tossing it, but when it happens with a videogame, I tend to hang in there and hope things will get better. I've been doing that for a while now. I feel like I'm still in the warm up phase, after 12 hours. Come on game, kick into gear already.
