For me:
1. Baldur's Gate 3 - The amount of love that went into this game is visible in just about every moment for me. I was never unengaged, the narrative is compelling, the combat is deep, and the game is thoroughly replayable.
2. Astro Bot - My favorite platformer since Rayman Legends, and my favorite 3d platformer of all time (narrowly beating out Mario Galaxy). It just makes me happy when I play it; it's sheer joyfulness is commendable.
3. Spider-man 2 - More of the same, but I absolutely loved the PS4 game, so that's not a bad thing for me. I truly feel a coop mode would've made this one incredible, but between the combat and the mobility, I'll settle for "really good."
Favorite cross-gen:
Forza Horizon 5 - I think I benefited from coming to this series late, as I hear each game is largely iterative. That said, this was all new to me, and I loved everything about it...the visuals, the accessibility, the variety, the fact that I never felt my time was being wasted. Great racer that seems to play well with both experienced players and those new to the genre.
Marvel's Midnight Suns - Once I realized the tone the narrative was going for, I found its hook charming. That said, the combat was main appeal here for me, and I loved how unique every character felt. I don't play card games much, so I was shocked to find that element actually probably improved this title.
