No, the promise was absolutely to deliver quality like modes at 60 fps.. but that is not happening.. also RT increase performance is at the moment proven false.. most of the RT upgrades are very low quality…

Also, Image quality with PSSR most of the times don’t quite match Quality mode on base PS5..

GPU raster performance is lacking the power to deliver the bump needed to really deliver a compelling upgraded experience regarding the base PS5..

Ps5 pro will go in history as the most underwhelming (yet pricier) console launched by Sony since is debut with ps1.. an authentic cash grab..

Feel free to check it yourself. I play on PC, but tested it out on Xbox, and can't say I saw it either. It's either highly conditional, or its been patched out.

The DF and the Daniel Owen videos have put me right off it for now.

I'll get it in a few months once it's been patched up to what I'd consider a reasonable state. It doesn't need to be perfect, I have a high tolerance for eurojank, but some of the things I've seen go far beyond what I'd define as "reasonable". The game will be much better for it and I'll have a better experience, no need to sour things unnecessarily at this stage when I have plenty of other things to play that have released in recent months.

Not at 4K res, not if your framerate target is only 120 fps

The 5800x3d is already bottlenecking the 4090 in current games at 4k. How that manifests varies from game to game and it will only get worse with the 5080/5090.

These are my 2 builds and you can see it based on these results:

vQkki2.png

vQkoM1.png

That's horizon zero dawn remastered and the CPU bottleneck at 4k dlss quality results in the 4080 paired with a 9700X outperforming it (you can see that unconstrained the 4090 should be hitting 150 fps if not for the bottleneck)

Black myth wukong above, look at the minimums.

My 2 cents, if you're going to spend money on the 5090 then also plan to upgrade to AM5 at some point, the newer CPU's and DDR5 will help you unlock the power that's going to be available.

The funniest thing in this whole situation is that yes, they want $2000-2500 (Wow, shocking news, Nvidia wants money, what a surprise, who would have thought). And the fact is that most likely, in general, the picture on the market will not change in any way, since it is unlikely that anyone will optimize games, and there are no prerequisites for improving the situation. Therefore, we will continue to play crooked ports, poor optimization and 40-50 FPS with DLSS, but for $2000-2500. :messenger_grinning_squinting:

What a shameless bad example from shit dev who didn’t even try.
Be better now. Cmon.
And no. Don’t post Alan wake 2. That’s also bad example.

Most games, especially on pro are already 4k60 or lower res with up scaling. It too dissimilar to dlss.
It’s an exceptionally good value.

Nvidia is milking people dry. 3080 was a fair price for 700$. Then they fucked over everyone with 4080 and 4090 pricing as it was scalper Covid prices but by nvidia after what they saw happening with 30xx Covid scalper prices.

Now the 50xx will be the biggest rip off ever.
We had a what? 700$ console being being 30%-2x(with pssr) faster console for only 200-250$ more and with this you I doubt we will see 2x performance gain.
Nvidia is selling great stuff, don’t get me wrong but they love their fake frames with frame generation.

Anyway - back to the topic. The difference between ps5 pro and 5090 will be as big as devs want it to be. In most games you will just have more fps. Which is not important to me. 60 is fine. I don’t need 200+ fps.

Look, if it's compatible with the new power supplies I got for the 12VHPWR connection then I won't complain.

But if they expect me to get new power supplies again... No chance. I'll stick with what I have until a new universal standard can be decided upon. Enough with the experimentation with something that wasn't even broken to begin with.
Aren't they gonna sell an adapter?

Like i have a psu without the native connector for series 4000 but it work with the adapter or whatever it is.

I doubt they are gonna force people to change their psu entirely.

Honestly, if you are complaining about the price than you aren't truly part of the master race. The master race would spend 5k easy without hesitation. If you have anything below the 4000 series in your PC at this point in time just get yourself a console like the pleb that you are.

If only they made other GPUs

I know this was meant to be sarcastic but there is actually a legitimate problem since the next GPU down is a bad value and 40s got discontinued (or maybe you weren't sarcastic lol)

I just don't think it's a big deal. Keep using what you have or used stuff. A few games you may not have decided to play anyway might need more compromises to make run, your balls won't shrink and the earth will keep spinning until the situation improves. It's just games, not survival and you don't need a 50 series on launch day. For all we know there will be another card with a value proposition as strong as 4070 Super once the whales are depleted. And if there's not, I'm gonna need some more high test games before I feel pinched about upgrading.

Since when did the 5090 come with a CPU?

It doesn't, you use any CPU you want. His point was that PS5 does come with a CPU and you're stuck with it, which is valid.

PS5 is still an effective $700 solution in a box if you simply want plug and play good graphic games on the couch.

I'll wait for a 5070

Wait for Ti version, 12GB of vram is ok for console settings. On 16GB you will actually be able to use higher RT and frame generation.

I had 4070 1.5 years ago and in many games once you turn on frame gen you hit that 12GB wall and get WORSE performance. Nvidia are masters of shit like that, they developed exclusive tech to improve game smoothness for 4xxx series and then limited their GPUs to as low vram amounts as possible.

I don't understand the price increase, were Nvidia the one been cheated or they're the real cheaters?
Pretty much take econ 101 or just go watch a video on supply and demand curves and that will explain prices to you better than anything else.(IE price is largely subjective, not objective. IE Value theory of price instead of labor theory of price.)

I agree. It’s not like we’re going to be seeing games that need a 50XX series to run. Just keep what you have and buy a better value card, once they start showing up. No one needs a 5090, except for the crowd that just wants the biggest, most expensive thing.

It’s a high price but that’s what you pay if you want the absolute best gaming performance available and the peace of mind that you’ll be destroying games.

I wish I had spent that extra £300 on a 4090 instead of a 4080. My 4080 hasn’t let me down but should’ve just got the 4090.

I’ll take a 5090 and that’s me set for the next 5+ years.

I need a reason to buy a 5090. Unless it's an unreal 5 game, or Flight Sim the 4090 obliterates it. Paid 1649 for it brand new. I think I'm good for this gen.

1999 sounds too low, gamers deserve to be pwned harder. I bet $2499 at least.

It should be 15-25% faster than the last gen, bar some special cases that paid shills like DF will trump as an absolute must have.

Costs roughly 899€ to have a full build that will match/outclass consoles 🤷‍♂️
We've been through this multiple times. No need to pay for online either, cheaper day 1 prices, etc.

A 5090 is for a completely other league of performances. You aim for that if you want path tracing cranked to the max

Which on consoles will look like this comparatively

Until PS6 maybe if AMD manages to catch up one day :)
Trolling at its finest.
I cannot imagine someone being really THAT ignorant to "expect" consoles to "catch up" on perf with $2k+ 500W overpriced monstrosity.

Yeah but Im getting 90+fps in Stalker 2 on a 3070 8gb, 5700x, 32gb ram with Dlss quality, high settings, and fsr3..

DenchDeckard

Moderated wildly
This is why I don't plan on putting any money into my PC anytime soon after I upgrade my CPU. I refuse to play this game and I would never buy a XX90 series anyways. The problem is that if the 90 is priced this high then the XX70 is also going to be stupid high.

MSRPs on the 70/70 Ti and 80 cards should be close to 40 series. It's only the 90 that is expected to see a larger jump. This is to create more space between 80 and 90 series.

The PSU change was necessitated because of this:

Even if the power supply could handle the wattage, not every power supply came with enough pcie ports and cables in order to make use of the adapters in a safe way.

I hope 5070 will bring 12gb at least, maybe they will surprise us

It will have 12GB for sure at launch, 5070ti will PROBABLY have 16GB.

Later on they might use 3GB GDDR7 chips so 5070 with 18GB will be possible.

According to?

Edit: Bojji Bojji said it was leaked. That's fair.

It's all rumors, still. But GPU leaks for Nvidia are mostly true. AMD has leakers that increase power by 50%, lol.

Fucking hell I mean if Ur main purpose is gaming this is pure stupidity in my opinion
U can get a ps5 , series x , gamepass with an oled switch and it still won't be close to this 1 GPU
And what will u get for that 2k GPU isn't like 4090 enough to brute force everything ?
Since most pc monitors are small in size it doesn't make sense to do 4k or 8k gaming on them I certainly don't get the appeal for it
