4080 super was a step in the right direction, but all rumours seem to point the 5080beingt even higher priced than the 4080.

Maybe the 5070 TI will be a better buy

That's why I didn't mention xx80 series when talking about xx90 series. Nvidia went nuts with it, and then AMD almost matched their price. How they even hope to compete?

Same here. I enjoy gaming, and it's my main hobby. Hobbies cost money.
Good thing about gaming as a hobby is that it doesn't have to be very expensive. It CAN be very expensive if you want the very best quality and/or every game day 1.
No need for folks to be mad at people who invest more in their hobby.
Does watch collectors get mad when fellow collectors get expensive watches? Or does hunters get mad at fellow hunters when they get the premium equipment?
It's all a bit silly this stuff.

If these clowns for once didn't go out and instantly buy them then Nvidia would have a very big problem on their hands. The prices would come down but no they love handing over their cash and yet have that audacity to call out PS5 gamers for paying $699 for an enthusiast product. Some people want the best option, and something to best possible accomply the new 4k 240hz OLED monitors. Is the 90-card not the best option? Will anything less do the new monitors justice in new demanding games the next couple of years?

Is the gains small compared to what you pay? Sure. But it's like that when it comes to high end stuff. Calling the folks who want these cards clowns seem a bit silly.
It's not like 2000 bucks is a gigantic fortune for many.

I definitly see the aggressive price increases as a negative thing (obviously), but it's not something to lose sleep over. Compared to lots of other hobbyes, gaming is still quite cheap.

You could get a lot more than a 4070. You could get a 4080 Super build easily.

I was able to put together a quick and dirty 4080S/7800x3d/32gb ddr5/ 2tb gen 4 ssd at microcenter only so not even shopping around for lower prices all in at $2100 plus tax. I could easily get it down under $2K with like 5 minutes work.

That’s a whole extremely capable PC for the price of a single component and without DF 400% zooms and looking at your FPS counter more then your game you wouldn’t notice a difference.

I think that if you build a PC with a 5090 it will still beat the PS6. It's a good investment for the future.
