Microsoft Gaming CEO Gives Subtle Dig at PS5 Pro Price: ‘We’re Not Growing the Market with $1000 Consoles’

Somehow, pointing out that obvious fact makes you a warrior, go figure. It's fascinating, how far some Team Green fanatics will go to shield Phil from criticism.

What makes you guys warriors is making up these strawman arguments.
There’s no logic or common sense in criticizing a CEO for saying he’s happy the industry is making gaming more accessible.

The hardware is on literal life support, yet he still has fans deflecting for him.

Who’s ‘defending’ Phil declining xbox hardware sales here?

You calling someone else warriors, is the most laughable and ironic take imaginable.

For the record, Phil should be criticized for his handling of the Xbox platform, whenever he makes a public statement. We dont need your approval, thankfully.

And kick rocks with your weak ass gatekeeping bs. Keep fighting your silly holy war, lol.

Given how his boss is so crazy about the Cloud/Azure stuff, I suspect they’d be pushing this same strategy even if they were selling way more consoles.
Really? I could almost guarantee that if the roles were reversed, Microsoft right now would be solely focused on consoles and keeping their 1st party games as exclusives there as they wouldn't be pushing out a rental service like they are today.

All you need to do is look back at the way they acted during the 360 era and the beginning of the Xbone era. It was consoles all the way. The pivot was Phil seeing they weren't winning the console race and couldn't crack it so he went a different way, which was rentals.

Truth. Posters acting like this was the plan all along are full of shit. This current pivot is from gross mismanagement, and terrible market decisions.

But hey, some think Phil shouldn't be criticized for the current state of Xbox. I suppose it's all Sony's fault.

They wondfer why they went from over 80 million 360's down to around 50 million Xbone's to even less series x/s, and it's because people like me loathed the direction they took when they decided to stop the traditional console route to try encompass EVERYTHING! Stick to 1 thing and focus on that, like they did with the 360...!

There’s certainly a comprehension deficit at play here, since I was clearly talking about their Cloud streaming push, which is most certainly at the heart of the market expansion being discussed in the quote in the OP.

That said, I wouldn’t rule out them pivoting to a subscription service of sorts. They seem to love those, with them using that mode as an option for Office where they completely dominate.

If they were the console market leader, I’m not sure even a sub service would leave them vulnerable. As we know today, there’s only so many people who want to subscribe to a service like GamePass.

In some form, they would still have a PC strategy.

But hey, some think Phil shouldn't be criticized for the current state of Xbox. I suppose it's all Sony's fault.

I’m not sure how pointing out to you that you’re going off a tangent with a brainless misread of the OP translates to ‘Phil should not be criticized for the current state of Xbox’, but we’ve already established there’s a comprehension shortfall at work here 🤣

And crossplay would never have happened. Sony's decision to eventually allow it was a sign of weakness and poor judgment, a missed opportunity to stand firm and assert their position. Now, I have to compete against a group of cheating PC gamers.

There isn't a disable option for PC cross play on PS? I don't play online games, so I don't know the answer.

If crossplay is deactivated, I'll only be matched with others who have also disabled it. The number of players who disable crossplay is extremely small. Casual players often don't check the settings and are unaware that the option exists. It's mostly a minority, spread across the globe, who are aware of this setting, making the group of players who turn off crossplay quite limited.
