I have Series X and I don't understand the negativity around the console

Pure fanboyism, imo Xbox consoles are better in general than PS consoles, except for last gen, they feel more advanced in terms of features, their controllers are always on a league of their own compared to Dual Whatever, even old Xbox games have always felt way more fun than most PS game to me, the problem I think comes from current exclusives, Xbox barely have something to brag about... But I'd rather have Xbox these days because PS exclusives are very meh to me and got third parties and Game Pass they look like the single best option to me

Not a fan of the XSX honestly. It's just a bare bones console with an ugly UI and bare bones controller. It's fitting that the exclusive lineup is much the same, bare bones and nothing really exciting to this point. Glad I sold out of the Xbox ecosystem. Tried to get back into it. Do not enjoy it or care about GamePass at all.

Will be there for Microsoft's good games whenever they get released on Playstation, because there's still hope for the future that some of their lineup will be good (Gears, Fable, Perfect Dark, etc)

Exclusives get overrated when it comes to justifying one console over another imo. There are no exclusive system sellers anymore. Playstation outsells Xbox because of historical brand favoritism and awareness in more regions around the globe. Sony advertises the hell out of Playstation at soccer matches in Europe. And all those people are mostly buying it to just play Fifa or Cod Warzone...not fucking Horizon or Days Gone.

I actually liked my XSX before I sold it but gamepass didn't develop any loyalty to it as I didn't own any games. The controller D pad is brutal even on the Elite controller.

I made myself decide on one after buying both at release and the XSX had to go.

Yes, people are buying Playstations to play not only CoD...but also Spider-Man

It makes a difference

Because as hardware is a Nice device but no great Exclusives means it's better to play the multiplatform games on PC or PS5 or Even Switch.

As a system, the series X is great

Much better than Xbox one imo from a hardware perspective

The issue is really Microsoft - they had zero first party games first few years, shot themselves in the foot over and over and blame consumers for not picking up Xbox hardware. But they have no first party output or what they have is pitiful compared to years and generations past. Compare their first party games this gen to the 360 gen….yes even Sony can’t compare with ps3 but at least they have some games and exclusives. Ps5 is worth owning for that reason

There is no pull for a series X beyond gamepass. People like myself have it, we offloaded our Xbox one for it, but it’s a poor value proposition for the gamer who doesn’t care about a subscription service (of which there are many)

I can understand the negativity. The thing is MS did this to themselves with consecutive poor leadership decisions

I like my Series X and prefer to play console games on that over my PS5 because games dont crash as often on Xbox compared to PS. Best part is you can do cloud saves without a subscription, where as on PlayStation you need PS Plus for cloud saves. Total life saver if your console dies or if you have another xbox console in a different room. Also us Xbox users can use Microsoft Office on our console (in the edge chromium browser)!

lol damn how often are games crashing on you to where you notice a difference?

I can’t even remember the last game that crashed on me.

It's a great piece of kit that Microsoft is just continually failing. I love my Series X, I sure wish Microsoft did.

The market has spoken, and decisively. It's clear the hardware isn't the issue per se, so what is? My guess, large digital libraries on PS4, people actually liking PlayStations first party output, and gamers moving to the ecosystem their mates are in.
It's the controller. The Xbox controller is a DualShock 2 ripoff with a layout dictated by workarounds of existing designs.
DualSense makes all of the best PS controllers (DS2 and DS4) feel obsolete.
Sony needs a TV ad with a DualSense setup across from an Xbox controller.
'Same' multiplat game on both.
Kids would come through and play on both controllers. Getting their uncut commentary would be really powerful.

Great console. Thankfully I have the ability to have all of the consoles so I don’t miss out on anything.

You can tell Microsoft is fooling around at this point, Sony puts pressure on themselves and that’s why they sell consoles.

This generation of MS consoles is awesome to me, I like Quick Resume feature so much! The store have so many games to buy, and sales are pretty often. It has the features in software and hardware to enhance my total view of appreciation
Maybe am overdramatizing this but it feels like people are pushing negativity towards this MS's generation too much
What do you think?
Really? Come now. After Phil Spencer decided the best course of action was to spend the competition out of the business, cancelled numerous games, released nothing but trash, low effort and poor quality games for years and killed all sales as well as growth of the system through repeated mismanagement and you dont get why the general attitude is negative?
Xbox is a train wreck, it offers nothing compelling compared to the competition and its been that way for 2 generations now.

It’s a great console. If I didn’t have a PC it’d be my main gaming platform. I’ve had a 360, One, and X. Loved them all. I did sell the X when I decided to upgrade my PC but have been considering buying one again.

The hate is just from the fanboys. If you didn’t know then this forum is full of ps5 fans and love shitting on Xbox. I have a PS5 too but I’m not gonna take sides and defend either company. I’m not 12.

Don’t listen to the haters. Just get what ever console you want and enjoy it.

I had a SX and it was a fantastic machine. Why people are negative? Well, go to a Pro thread. We love to be negative about everything. To be falsely happy we already have Instagram.

I don't really understand this mentality...

Do you feel like you are part of some VIP club when you play exclusive games?
I just feel like exclusives add a lot of value to console ownership. Would I like to see Nintendo 1st party games released on PC? Sure, but if that was to ever happen then I'd never have a reason to own or enjoy a Nintendo console. I just want my use-case of these products to be justified with experiences I can't get anywhere else which is the allure of these consoles to me beyond nostalgic factors. Maybe that is the same thing as the feeling of being in a VIP club? Yes, I suppose I like that feeling and would pay for it.
This is an interesting offshoot of Xbox’s game pass strategy. When I sold my launch XSX after 2.5 years having used Game pass ultimate (thx gold conversion), I had only bought one game digitally, so there was no real loss of a game library.
It definitely is a interesting predicament. I think one of the things Phil was lamenting about when they lost last generation was that most people moved over to Playstation, took root and grew their libraries there which has had repercussions for this generation of Xbox (Series S|X). Gamepass has done just the thing that Phil was complaining about, I have not put down roots in the Xbox ecosystem and with gamepass I can just pick up and leave at anytime with no real loss or abandonment of MY library as there isn't one. I realize this is situational but I wonder how many others out there are in the same situation, purchased very few games and have been using their Xbox as a gamepass and backward compatibility machine and do their primary gaming else ware.

It's a great system and I use it everyday for multimedia and games. The PS5 and switch is there and I'll use that occasionally for exclusives but the series x is the main one . Nothing wrong with it.

Maybe there's something wrong with me lol

I don't think people hate the console hardware-wise. It's a well made console, runs so quiet and has good specs. They just don't like MS decisions.

I can’t even remember the last game that crashed on me.
I notice it when i play newer games. Bought Hogwarts Legacy day 1 and had some crashes. There have been a few others too so just kinda avoided playing new games on my PS5 since then.

I don't have mine anymore. I knew when I bought it, it would be a Gamepass machine, and therein lies the problem. I barely had any attachment to the platform because I felt like I was basically renting everything. When I needed some cash, it was the easiest system to part with. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy several games on it while I had it. Overall I didn't mind using it and liked the catalog of classic games. The newer stuff, not so much. It has a nice feature set, but it felt like there were Gamepass ads everywhere, even when I was already subscribed to it. Aesthetically it's far superior to any version of the PS5.

The only Sony exclusives that sold more than 10 million copies this gen (not tens of millions) were Spider-Man 2, `GoW, and Helldivers 2, which was GaaS and 60% of sales came from PC. They also tend to release in quite a long time intervals. Most played games on PlayStation 5, are multiplatform. Stellar blade sold 1m, we last heard (same as latest Sonic remake in day 1), Astro bot so hyped on NeoGaf, sold only 1.5m (0.8% of PlayStation 5 owners jumped on this gem /s), Returnal, rise of ronin, non of these got to that tens of millions you are mentioning. Unless you are adding 3 gens of game sales incl of remakes, remasters etc. Then that numbers might be a bit higher.

Yes, this narrative, Xbox games are trash, or Xbox has no games, it is odd, I am struggling to find time to play. And now port begging from Sony bros is hilarious.
Sony released reskinned spiderman and it is second coming, Astro bot is GOTY even before the release etc. While hellblade w is not a game, flight sim is not a game, indie willl be trash as it is not clone of uncharted, starfield is trash, forza horizon is trash, sea of thieves is the worst game ever (was in top sellers list for some time on PS5 and it is actually most successful rare game to day), pentiment is WTF is that, avowed will be trash meanwhile, basically anything not following Sony formula is trash, some users here were fighting for concord till the last day. It is funny as this argument (about trash) is by some extended to switch releases - comparing Astrobot to Mario, some other games to Zelda - really pathetic.

I think there is overall negativity on this forum (mostly run by blue team) towards anything MS does. People let go of people and close studios - bad MS, Sony doing the same - nothing to watch here.

Miles Morales sold 14M as well. Horizon is at 8.4M after a year, probably over 10M now

And how many Xbox exclusives sold over 10M?

…..*crickets, something something GamePass*….

People have an issue with Xbox, the company, not Xbox, the console.

One could say X360 was shit because of RROD, but PS3 had YLOD (happened to me twice with OG PS3).

Wouldn't even make sense to hate the hardware itself.

I think it's a pretty good console and you can't go wrong with it unless you can't live without over the shoulder cinematics.

"I have/do/like X and don't understand the negativity around it."

Perfect way to stir up discussion with a high chance of derailing and reproducing the negativity the OP is supposedly puzzled about. Well played. Are you really puzzled about it? Do you really care that much about the personal opinions of some random people on the internet? We could make this a habit and continue our quest for endless negativity by creating threads like "I don't understand the negativity around child labor" or, the classic, "I don't understand why people are against murder - what's the deal?"

OP, I don't understand how you can't understand the negativity.
It's simple really from a consumer standpoint.
Not sure if the points been hit already, I just skimmed through.

The PS5 has loads of amazing exclusives, and plays pretty much everything worth playing that the XSX can play.
It really is that simple. Why limit your choices needlessly?
Unless you really like Microsofts exclusives or absolutely prefer the controller (this I can kind of understand).

It's a great console. But the controller feels like a step back compared to the DualSense. The main problem is not the hardware but the software. Now, finally, years and years after Microsoft started its shopping spree and we're starting to see the result of it they've already abandoned the exclusive strategy meaning you could just wait and buy these games for the PS5 instead. They're not making a good case for owning an Xbox nowadays.

I used my Series X on a daily basis for three years, but this year I've more or less moved over to PS5. Games speak for themselves, and Xbox has had nothing to offer to compete with Astro Bot and Silent Hill 2.

Oh we are doing cross-gen games, then Minecraft, Halo 4, Halo 5, Forza horizon 5 alone did over 40mln players, sea of thieves also 40+ mln players, flight sim 15+ million of players etc - (but you you know well that MS doesn’t report sales anymore for many years, mainly because of gamepass day 1).

In your opinion, for me ps4pro was my last PlayStation, as Sony decided to play it safe and carry on with their template and now have 0 exclusives I would like to play. I do t even buy most of them on steam. When you look at most played games, these amazing exclusives don’t have legs, they drop from these most played charts very quickly after release. Look how overhyped Astrobot was, only 0.8% of PlayStation players bought it. It is like most of PS5 exclusives are overhyped and then after some time people realise that most are average games.

Yes. Include cross gen from the moment next Gen consoles released that sells next gen consoles. Which whittles your list down to 0. And of course you started listing gamepass metrics.

It’s not like MS has very many next true gen exclusives either

If you had any legitimate points, Xbox wouldn’t be in the state it is now, selling at a lesser pace than the failed Xbox one and MS now going full third party

so flight sim 2024, hellblade 2, indie, age of empires, age of mythology retold, indie, stalker 2…are nothing to compare vs Astro bot and SH2 remake?

The software is shocking, that's the issue and has always been the issue for Microsoft since 2009.
What has been shocking about the software since 2009??

The mid 360 generation was fantastic, arguably the best era for the platform. There were lots of great games during the One generation as well, I went from PS4 to One X mid generation and it was pretty awesome.

For me it’s the Series generation that has been a letdown, 2020 and forward. There has been same rare good games, like Forza Horizon 5, but all in all it’s like the first party studios has been sitting out this generation. Like we’ve not even seen a second of gameplay from State of Decay 3 shown at the unveil in a prerendered teaser. At this point I assume nobody want to waste big titles on this generation and just wait it out and go for the next generation launch instead. Sucks for early adopters.

But from a platform perspective there is one big issue.
1. You can get everything on PC now, day 1, better versions.

What’s the plan for the future? Is Xbox consoles really just a lowend entry point for Microsoft’s games now?

Maybe list indie a couple more times, nobody will notice....That's needed for list wars against an opinion but if you want to count timed exclusives and 3rd party exclusives your list will pale in front of any other console....Honestly most of your posts in most threads are pathetic and sad.

So game which have very long legs doesn’t count - like Minecraft (still in top 10 played games on Xbox series and PS5) or sea of thieves - got it, as Sony is unable to produce something similar we don’t count these, next, forza horizon 5 40 million players - why we are not counting these? All of them came from gamepass when it was 20-25mln users? Flight sim 15+ million players same as above I assume. You know as well as I do that MS doesn’t report game sales for many years now. So asking for direct comparison is plain stupid, I just gave you data that is available officially.

Any official statement about the MS going 3rd party or is more of your hopium? Why would they even go 3rd party if in your (and blue part of the forum) opinion their games are trash. Confused.

Shit, I even haven’t noticed indie being there twice :) …and listing SH2 is okay? It is as timed exclusive as Stalker 2, indie is also timed exclusive as far as we know. Nowadays anything can be timed exclusive - look Death Stranding on Xbox, probably stellar blade soon as well.

The console itself isn't bad - it's powerful enough, cheap to buy, silent and backwards compatible (to an extent). The problem is to justify the need of owning it. You can play all MS games on PC and without having to pay for multiplayer. I own an XSX because I'm a lazy guy and I don't want to fiddle around with drivers and connecting my PC to a big screen TV. Plus I don't play strictly multiplayer titles so I don't have the problem of having to pay for Game Pass.

Yep just that the poster you replied to just stated his opinion about his preferences, that somehow got you triggered into a list war...Him liking two games more than the Xbox lineup doesn't meant it is the entirity of sony's lineup but I'm sure that if you had listed you'd have mentioned Black myth wukong right ?You and all of your good faith after all you "own all console" therefore can't be a warrior right ?No you just get triggered when * checks thread* someone likes sony's lineup more than MS ....That sure checks out.

What are you arguing about anymore?

My point was that PlayStation exclusives sell PlayStation consoles, and there’s a significant number of them that have released this gen that contributed to over 65M sold

are you disputing this? And if so, what relevance does Minecraft have? Is that selling massive amounts of Xboxes when it’s playable everywhere?
