Xbox fanboys: "Let Microsoft compete and buyout multiplatform house with multiplatform developers, just buy pc or xbox if you want those games in the future. PS needs to create their own shooters we don't have to because Xbox isn't creative at all. Create your own shooter in the next 10 years".

Also Xbox fanboys: "Why is HD2 not on Xbox? that's not fair at all, look at the numbers they need more players. See even PS players want the game on Xbox (fake news). Look at us we are poor gamers, ABK wasn't enough, Bethesda wasn't enough, Palworld wasn't enough. We need this game.....right....now!".

As embarrassing as this port begging is, and at this point it's shameless, I cant help but connect the dots. The executives and the policies they have implemented over the last few years by porting first party games to PC, Xbox, and even Switch has led people to become delusional about stuff like this. I think Sony shouldve stuck their ground against MLB, and even GaaS games shouldve been exclusives. They opened a can of worms when they decided to do this. Now they have to deal with pressure from these idiotic media personalities.

Ignore them. Just as Nintendo does.

Aside from Nintendo who has an ironclad ecosystem, give it time and MS and Sony will be doing more PC ports and more buddy buddy console ports with each other. I'm not saying day one big games are graciously going be exchanged, but it'll creep up.

Going by today's news, Sony is even going PSVR2 on PC sometime this year and that hardware has only been out for 1 year.

Well perhaps MS could actually start to care about it's output, start to select devs and franchises for future investments based on merit and not console war mentality, and produce quality titles without outright buying out half of the industry.

This port-begging is getting truly pathetic. HD2 success is fully deserved to be only on PlayStation 5, because we're seeing a direct result of Sony's policy of cultivating external relationships and the faith to continue investment into the more obscure games like the first Helldivers.

I love how it took HD2 for Xbox gamers to realize that Microsoft milked them with uninspired rehashed sequels of Halo and Gears the past 10+ years. To the point where both games multiplayers are completely irrelevant in the gaming landscape

Ahem... it's not just Xbox players, might I remind you of the utter travesty that was...

Where so many people on "SonyGAF" voted to make Halo GOTY. even better so many voted with the key word "Coop" that it landed on the word chart... at a time that Halo Infinite would take over anouther 2 years to get coop, yes of course it's GOTY based on the promise of content, rather than actual content.

I am still just confused that this even happened, I'm glad that the scales have fallen from the eyes fairly quickly but the fact it happened at all was just fucking awful.

Helldivers is like the Baldurs Gate III of GaaS games, it shows how live services should launch... well... maybe with better backend support for higher player counts.

Lmao, this is the second article I've seen of this type, publicly port begging.

Their trying to set this up like with crossplay; Making it look like a player lead issue, when it's not.

You can smell the bs a mile away.
Fair call, but I’ve got to ask who really cares if it’s exclusive or not?. If you think about it the only people this affects is die hard fanboys.

Yes certain people can’t hold this over other certain types. The casuals don’t care and people like me don’t care. I hate games that die because of lack of player base, granted this game has no problem with player base atm but I’ve seen too many games I love die because nobody is playing them.

It’s a weird discussion because the concept is so new. What’s a world with limited exclusives to consoles. Idk…

I hate this narrative thats getting pushed now…Suddenly its all praise for Xbox having decided to go Multiplat and by extension pressure should be put on Sony to follow suit…Lets not forget WHY Xbox is going this route, they have failed to make any money, they need multiplat sales…
Now would HD2 benefit from Xbox players? Sure why not, the more the merrier for a GaaS…BUT That is where it stops…

If you’re not a console warrior child, you see the business benefits to pushing some lower performing games on as many devices as possible. That will in turn, help video game enthusiasts who want studios to take more chances and create new IPs.

Pretty sure the vast majority are looking at it from Sony's perspective, rather than from a gamer's point of view.

If only so they can use Xbox servers. Because the Mickey Mouse bullshit they got duct taped together right now isn’t good enough.

Their using Azure... Microsofts servers, the issue is the bottleneck with how the game handles some of the mechanics was not built to be scalable for 700,000 players, but closer 70,000. Adding more servers won't fix that, which is the current issue.

"Xbox servers". You do know they use Microsoft's Azure playfab, right?

Exclusives are what make a console attractive and give the platform value. The more (good) exclusive my box of choice has, the more valuable it becomes. I think the only people who have a problem with exclusives are the people who can't play them. (No one should feel entitled to play every game available)

Or in this case, Microsoft trying to make their lack of exclusives a good thing by saying other companies exclusives are bad and anti consumer.

The problem is that the recent acquisitions made by MS/Xbox have been used as part of their PR strategy. They've been more than happy that its spread FUD among users/potential users of its competitors that the games they like won't necessarily be available outside of MS mandated platforms and hardware.

Its not just fanboys who were running with this conception, but people in the media. Its been quite pervasive.

So, them flip-flopping onto the "games for everyone is best" line is transparently disingenuous and self-serving.

Yes, I would love longer queues and more disconnects.

Who doesn't?
The queues could be due to not having enough players on servers near you. Adding Xbox players would allow that queue time to go down. Disconnects could be due to latency, if there aren't enough players around you, then it will connect to a higher latency server in a different region of the country or even another country.

My bad. I guess the game was just developed poorly.

Indeed it's the same issue that Halo Infinite has in reverse, in that they designed their backend and match making with hundreds of thousands of players in mind, and instead only get a few thousand.

I'm sure we can reach a compromise, what are we getting in return?

I actually had fun with it, a proto-GaaS if you will (without the MTX bullshit) , shame that it died a quick death, then again, the "watch the enemy's health bar diminish with each hit while DMG and XP numbers pop-up®" wasn't all the rage back then like it is now where 99% of games out there have some sort of RPG mechanics because why not ? 😉

This poll show the state of this forum here. Everyone should get to enjoy good titles not just one sided. You don't get to port beg and cry when one side says they bringing some titles to your perferred platform, then put your foot down when it goes the other way.

The short answer is, more support especially from more platforms equals more servers, less queue time, more people playing together.

Yeah, not enough players is the issue with HD2.😏

Your post is exactly what I expect of you as well. Kick the can down the road. Narrative shift goes brrrrrrrrrr.
I honestly play the majority of my games on PC, but I play a bit my daughter on Xbox. I'm just really sick of the one sided topics, conversations, and hypocrisy. I'm playing HD2 on PC, just think most people should want more people to have the ability to play all games, guess that's too much to ask.

But it is one sided. We can yap about "port begging" all day but the fact of the matter is Xbox is expanding to PlayStation for its own sake. PlayStation is going to continue to have their own exclusives and there is really not a compelling reason for Sony to fund a port of Helldivers 2 to Xbox.

Nobody was port begging Pentiment, bro. MS is doing this out of survival of the brand.

It's a 3.4 Trillion dollar company, Xbox alone has a 110 billion dollar spending budget. They really don't need to do anything for their own sake.

Buying up these big publishers and allowing their games on more consoles generates them more revenue, they see this as a shift in marketing which is why they made game pass. More subs, more MRR, less reliance one time console purchases. So buy allowed Bethesda and Activision games on Nintendo and PlayStation they get a small of the whole pie.

I personally disagree with it as it makes people lose faith in the brand delivering more competition, but it is sound for their business model.
