Final Fantasy XVI coming to PC 9.17.24

Square is going to end up putting both games on switch 2 and say it didn’t reach sale expectations with a year 1 user install base.

What if a game had New God of War setting, graphics, characters, levels and aesthetics with FF16 combat system and kaijuu battles?
That throws out the worst parts of both games while combining the best parts.

I
am on 4080 without drivers and hitting 90 plus fps all the time except cutscenes....shit is smooth as fuck, incredible turnarond from demo...but i am also on a 13900k and 64gb ddr5 lol
have a 3080 and it was running like real shit on without drivers, once I got the drivers, man did it smooth out. Plays wonderfully.

Not really. 22k is not impressive at all, currently sitting at 68th most played game on Steam.

Total initial sales of 100-200k.
I meant impressive in context.
16 and Final Fantasy XV released on steam under the same circumstances with base game releasing 1 year ago.
Final Fantasy XV ha been way more successful and it opened with 29K max players on steam. 16 doing 22K is very good for how its release was received. Todays peak was 21K.
This
This and Ragnarok are better than wu Kong.
Can you skip cutscenes in Ragnarok?

Yes, by not buying the game.

I got this on steam yesterday and I am blown away by the graphics. The textures are so crisp and detailed. The goblins look like movie quality cgi with wet gross skin. The areas are worth exploring for all the little details in a way that reminds me a lot of Hogwart's Legacy. I don't know if the whole game can hold up, but the graphics are certainly much better than I expected. The character models for the humans are this weird, slightly inhuman anime inspired style. It looks great on some characters, but others like young Clive's face give me the creeps.

I love the character rendering for the main cast. There's something about how they light up with the shadows that looks very pleasing. In between anime, CG and real people.

FF7 Rebirth's character models are also exceptional but different from 16 as they're more straight up CG like. I'm not sure which I prefer! (not talking about designs but the rendering techniques).

The PS5 versions visuals also blew me away so I imagine on PC with a crisp 4k IQ (vs 1440p on PS5) and at 60fps it's very nice. There's a forest early in the game that is just 🤯 in terms of art direction and minor details.

Final Fantasy 16 PC - This One's Heavy

Final Fantasy 16 has arrived on PC - and let's just say that it's a demanding game. Built with dynamic resolution scaling in mind on PS5-class hardware, it's a port that pushes PC hard if you stick to fixed resolutions. Alex and Oliver share notes on the game, then move onto the optimised settings and PS5 equivalents put together by contributor Mohammed Rayan.

I was looking forward to playing this tomorrow but I think my 3070 won't like it

Demo runs fine but I've read that the later areas are the real test

:(

I still haven't finished it on ps5. May pick this up on pc during a sale.

The graphics were quite impressive.

Need to get the right mental meds first. Its hard to concentrate on a game/ movie.

The first half of the game: absolutely amazing, but after the Titan fight, the game gradually becomes boring: from the boss fights to the storyline. Towards the end, I had to drop all the side quests and rush through, skipping all the pointless cutscenes just to finish the game.

If we only consider the first half, FF16 deserves to be one of the games with the best boss fights ever. On the flip side, FF16 is also one of the games with the most dreadful, sleep-inducing side quests ever.

About the graphics: the forest scene at the beginning of the game is the best the game has to offer. Later on, many areas feel poorly done, giving the impression of playing a PS3 game, extremely disappointing.

Got a good 8 hour session in today and I've been enjoying my time with it so far

Side-quests are a bit meh so I'm skipping all that dialogue

You guys weren't lying about the boss battles, it was epic fight after epic fight

One moment you're doing the world's most boring sidequest and the next an insane boss battle that gets the blood pumping. A game of incredibly high highs and very low lows.

I feel like I'm playing a different game than all of these people. I just got to the reveal of
the hooded man being Joshua
and I'm freaking hooked. The combat is super fun, the story is complex and interesting, the visuals are top-notch, the progression system is enjoyable, the characters are memorable, the lore and world is unique and fascinating... Like what the hell?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills compared to some of these comments. I will say that I haven't done a single side-quest as I've heard they're really bland, and I generally avoid doing a lot of sidequests in these types of games anyway.

I’m genuinely confused how anyone can say the combat is fun. Yes it feels great and plays quite well, it also looks quite incredible at times and the moveset is engaging and diverse. Wait a tick, if it has all of that how on earth are you not finding it fun?

Simple, it has an utter lack of challenge and a lot of the fights have enemies that are damage sponges so the combat simply drags on for far too long.

Give the game some difficulty options, where your ability selection actually matters and reduce the HP of the enemies and suddenly the combat becomes quite a bit better.

I made a thread after my completion calling it a good game. GAF shat on me for it.

It’s a 8.5/10 overall, and an argument can be made for a 9/10 with the dlc.

I really like this game overall. Good story with ok combat and great looking world. But most of what people said is true, it just depends on how this stuff affects YOU. I did all the side quests to see how they conclude but fuck... They are tragic and I would advise you to not do any of them other than chocobo one. They fuck up pacing of the game even more than just doing main quest.

From me it's 8/10 but I'm biased, haha.

While I thoroughly disagree with those comments and I actually really loved the game and think it's one of the best looking games out there,it does drop off a cliff in pacing after the
Titan
boss fight,it becomes a slog fest of stupid fetchquests and mmo like quests that detract from everything the game does right and it never feels quite as high of quality of a package after that happens.

The boss fights and main story beats are clearly the highlight of the game but the padded runtime kills the pacing of the game.

It’s definitely polarizing, but some people pretend fans of this game are crisis actors. By most places that gather overall consumer opinions a large majority of people enjoyed the game.

And it is a game with deep flaws:
-awful side quests
-no rpg mechanics
-linear leveling
-no reason to explore an empty world
-the shitty sky filter later in the game
-no challenge in combat
-pacing issues

Even with those glaring problems the highs are just too good for me and I enjoyed my time with this game start to finish. Despite it trying to ruin it for me haha.

How is FF7R still £70 on Steam when XVI just released and is £45?
It’s on sale often, but demand for ff7r is likely still good.

XVI underperformed on PlayStation 5 so Square probably just wants to recoup as many sales as possible with a lower price point.

Steam DB says Remake is on sale - it's $35 in the US. But yes the normal price is $70. That's just how things are these days, no more permanent price cuts. Only temporary sales.

Not really - the peak was 13k. Does look like there are little spikes when sales are announced (plus a bigger one when Rebirth was released) but nothing that big.
