Which FROMSOFT boss would have made you lower the in-game difficulty, if their games had adjustable in-game difficulty options?

Even if there were an option, I wouldn't use it. Overcoming the challenge is what makes these games great for me.

To answer differently, the boss that frustrated me the most is Demon of Hatred. That piece of shit is too different mechanically to any other boss in Sekiro, so it completely threw me off. I wasted a good 4-5 hours of my total playtime on that.

I think probably some early boss from Sekiro, because that's when I was at least less comfortable with the game's mechanics.

First fight with Genichiro was truly difficult for me, made me almost quit, but at the same time made me actually care about the combat and learn how to parry decently.

Also Lady Butterfly.

I don't think I would do it, but ok. Perhaps the first Vicar not because of his patterns or damage(which are deadly btw), but the amount of HP this thing has is absurd.

The one that springs to mind is the one in the start of Elden RIng in the cave, after theres that ghost thing sat on the side and you drop into a pit or something?

Demon's Souls back on ps3 I just didn't have the free time to try, try again back then, so nothing in particular there, but I'd have 100% lowered the difficulty to let me just see it all asap and get on with my life.

Never played the Souls games and know better than to go anywhere near Sekiro, it's clearly not for me.

Bloodborne I got bored retrying some boss encounter with I think 3 (?) of I think the same guy in a graveyard type place... it's hazy, I don't really remember other than thinking it was more annoying walking back down a hill to start it again. Or maybe that's just a fiction my dreams left me with after playing, lol. Maybe I'd also have dialled it right down there and then and carried on, but if it'd have been available I'd have already done it before I'm sure.

Melania is what stopped me getting an otherwise straight-forward platinum in Elden Ring, so that's the one I'll go with. Got very close in first few tries but then when I then read what I should be doing I only seemed to get worse and she shit on me in the 2nd phase over and over. I was a few weeks late to the game (playing Horizon iirc) and some people cheesed the fuck out of her a month earlier but that wasn't possible when I dragged my feet to her door. Even resorted to summoning other players (which never appealed to me) but that just resulted in an endless shit show of complete incompetents doing all kinds of nonsense - felt like trolling rather than the expected 2-prong cheese I'd hoped for. Switched off and never want back, and that probably put me off even considering the DLC, too.

You ain't a pussy Gaf, are you?
Pfft. Not at all. I easy pussies for breakfast.

Erm, I mean, no no not like that.

Look, forget I said anything, yes I'm a pussy, you got me.

Last boss from Shadow of the Erdtree because it’s just ridiculous. I only made it with co-op help and was basically running way from it to not get hit by the insane full arena attacks.

I spent a week on Sekiro’s last boss memorising the moves but eventually did it. I would never finish Erdtree by myself.

From needs to urgently tone it down.

Sekiro: Wrath Demon.

I have finished Sekiro 12 times so far.... And every time I fight him I end up hating him more and more.

Last time I fought him I almost cheated...

I usually don't lower difficulty but if I had to choose several boss of Elden ring are good candidates, starting with Malenia. Her waterfowl attack alone is making her fight quite bad. No joy in fighting her. Took me countless tries to beat her solo and when I did I didn't get the satisfying feeling of victory. Just "that's was a shitty boss fight"

Final boss of DLC is somehow worse but after few tries I summoned players to beat him and I have no regret and will probably never fight him again.

Was thinking about buying Sekiro while it’s 50% off but some posts here have me scared.

I’m an average player but have beaten Demons, Dark 1 + 3, Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Not all boses in each but without summoning help on the ones I did beat in order to beat the game. ER I used most of the help they offered.

Would I be able to beat Sekiro?

If you beat a single regular boss in any of these games, you are able to beat all of these games on your own

The only difference is time and patience

Absolutelly. Sekiro is the most 'reaction dependency' game of them all, you will learn that every attack can trigger a reaction of you (fleeing, punishing, whatever...)

HOw did you do that boss? need to do the same
Currently for Elden Ring you can use "Smithbox" (Yapped Rune Bear is outdated and doesnt work) to edit "regulations.bin" file (definitely back it up first and you shouldnt play online obviously)

Look for clearcountcorrectparam column in the param editor, pick new game or new game+ accordingly (the numered ones are for DLC only) and tweak any type of damage and defense to your liking.

Remember that youll be tweaking enemy stats and not player, so damage and defense are pretty much reversed. For example 0.500 to reduce it in half or 2.000 to double them. You can also change stats like poise values (called toughness corretion) for items in EquipParam* to create a pseudo transmog system and allow all kinds of moves for weapons if you want, but thats a bit more complicated. Once youre done you just save it an overwrite it.

Dont remember how i did it for sekiro, i think its pretty much the same way, but with different tools, but alternatively you can simply use an old fashioned trainer to change defence/damage multipliers, but youll have to turn it on each time you play.

Elden Beast wasn't too hard. That bastard just kept running away from me. My melee-focused build could never get in range to hit him. I don't think a difficulty slider would have helped.
Fortunately, they've since changed that scenario. Although I doubt I'll ever play it again.

I've spent hours re-fighting Midir and Malenia as a co-op summon for fun. You want a hard Fromsoft experience? Go play an Armored Core title from the R2 / L2 look up down era.

Commander Gaius is genuinely one of the worst bosses ever, if lowering difficulty removed that stupid undodgeable charge attack I would have done it so quickly.
