Danjin44 Danjin44 got me to pick this up from hyping it in the Metaphor:Refantazio OT. Amazon sale had it for $30 on PS5.

This game is great. It has 50+ well-defined characters--almost all of them instantly likeable--to the point that I have trouble picking who I want in my different units.

The gameplay loop is addictive: form your units->pick a battle->after the battle, your map is cleared of enemies so->go pick up the items laying in the overworld->use those items to level up your town->station a guard in town to get additional materials->now you've ran into another battle, repeat. And other mechanic layers on top of that. It's hard to put down.

It's got just about everything I like about strategy games and RPGs. It's Fire Emblem + Final Fantasy XII + XCOM + that distinct Vanillaware art style. It's the whole package!

And the game could have been even better if the devs didn't run out of money and time for development. I hope Unicorn has sold well enough because we need more RPGs like it.

I tried the demo this past weekend and found it pretty fun.

Does the game get repetitive or too easy later on? I've heard that all the customization options and gearing your team becomes almost pointless.
