So just finished FF7 Remake in preparation for Rebirth. So good on PS5… especially as ive upgraded to 65inch QD OLED since I first played Remake.

Just imagining a remake of FFX with the same ambition and budget. X is my favorite ☺️.

I know it would take like 20 years at this rate 😂 but it would be so good 💯

FFX is my favorite. FF7R trilogy needs to be a 9/10 trilogy though, so I'm fine with waiting an extra 10ish years.

Imagine the graphics and water effects by that time.

Yes Spira is the most beautiful and one of the most memorable game worlds ever. I'd love to see it recreated on PS5/PS6. I think they could do it in one game as well given the structure and as it seems similar in scope and game design to FFXVI.
There was an insider with a decent track record who said it was in the early stages of dev/planning for release sometime after 2026. It makes sense for many reasons as the next one to revisit.

Not if they change the gameplay.
They will change the gameplay.

Not if Nomura is directing it.
80% chance of co-directorship, unless he retires before the project starts.

No more remakes.. I demand new great games instead.
SaGa: Emerald Beyond comes out in April and Visions of Mana comes out in Quarter 3 of 2024

Would end up bloated with shitty filler like VII, so no.
The original FFX had small sidequests, blitzball leagues, and tasks such as dodging lightning 100 times to get a special item.

B-b-but this scene was so brilliant, clever, and expertly directed! It’s supposed to be awkward! If you cringed so hard you injured your testicles, that just means it has its intended effect.

Sorry you missed the point so badly… Tetsuya Nomura’s genius cannot be appreciated by the ignorant gaijin dudebros.

If they can get the airship to be more than a menu then hell yeah.

Just leave the soundtrack alone. That remaster remix was awful.

Og besaid and Luca are still some of the chillest jams in gaming

i mean listen to this abomination

Not saying this is you, but the fact that this scene gets made fun of so much just really shows people's lack of being able to discern anything. Or at least that they didn't actually play the game.

I'm not saying FFX's voice acting is great, it's firmly B-tier at best, but people are always saying "OMG look how bad their voice acting is in this scene! So fake and phony!" -- but that's the point of the scene. It's literally about them forcing stupid fake laughter to try and relieve stress. In fact, both characters laugh for real at the end of the scene and it is fine.

All they need to do are HD editions of songs, very little to zero improvisations, and zero remixing.

An example of it done right:

Remaster-

When it comes to the soundtrack, FF7Remake and Rebirth (from what I've heard so far) get it 2/3rds right. The point should always be to invoke the same feelings, not to outdo them or overpower them with new ones.

It also fits the awkwardness of them both being teenagers, but honestly I've stopped caring about defending that scene anymore. I hope it's in the remake and advertisements so that the cringers can cringe again and again.

Although i like it. But i think there are lot of older games which need to be remade. There are already one hd remaster back before. And still quite fine.

Oh I know. I love Final Fantasy X. I still love the scene even though it's cringy as fuck. I remember playing this when it first came out and I was a teenager in highschool. My brothers walked in and started to laugh so much. I was so embarrassed lol

But I hope if they ever do a remake of X, that they keep this scene in. It really adds to the charm of the game.

But on the other hand I'm tired of remakes, I would want a new entry in a JRPG franchise. I'm fine with Remasters but there's been too many remakes lately. Star Ocean The Second Story R (Which I love I do admit), Super Mario RPG Remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (I admit the game does look good but I'm waiting on a Steam release and it's still a remake or reimagining like they like to call it) and Persona 3 Reload

yeah i agree, there were some songs they still kept pretty faithful in the HD version. But when i heard how they butchered my besaid i struggled to try and keep it on.

opened up YT, listened to the whole new OST and was like nah im good and kept the OG hahaha

My initial thought was hell yeah, I would love to play that game in some unreal engine 5 like realistic environments, with HFW like faceal work and animations, but they would change the battle system to some action gobbly goo, and I wouldn't want that for FFx.

If the rumors are to be believed, it looks like we don't have much choice.

Honestly one of the best and most memorable scenes in the game, and not for any stupid meme reason. FFX is such an incredibly special game. It would be a real shame for it to be ruined by a remake from current SE. I'm really against the amount of extra crap they feel like they need to add to FF7R to make it feel more fleshed out or alive. Now we have all these new NPCs in town verbally repeating the same stupid lines and animation on loop. Great this is much better.

I love the concept of a remake of FFX. Rebuild the game on a modern engine where the animation isn't tied to the FPS, stream line the sphere grid - I like the sphere grid in concept but jesus christ speed it up. Blitzball as a concept is actually pretty fun too, but needs to be retooled to - you guessed it - be faster. So much "holding the game back" was just limitations of the hardware. Keep it turn based. Keep the rock paper scissors combat mechanic. Since Yuna's summons replace the entire party, it's a good opportunity to really flex and make them feel huge/intimidating. Pull some influence from 16. The summoner battles have the potential to be a real spectacle; fights against Sin, etc.

A remake has an enormous amount of potential. As a game that has a lot of voice acting, though, people have grown up with and grown attached to those actors and that acting direction. Unless they just like straight up lift the old dialog in a 1:1 remake, it's going to hit different.

I don't blame you and I can go on and on about this topic. There are mucisicans and music critics on youtube where fans asked them to analyze the differences and they point out how remake tracks sound good but the OST orchestras and amount of instruments are overpowering the central theme of the song, which should be the main thing that stands heads and shoulders above everything else.

Some people here will never understand and that's fine, but it's little stuff like this that bugs me with such a great game that FF7R is. A perfect example is the Jenova track from FF7. They got it right, twice.

Even with the added guitar on the second one (which was purposefully done), you can still hear and feel the notes of the central theme of Jenova loud and clear, just tweaked to give you a slightly different feeling with that guitar (since AC is a sequel). But the key here is that the other instruments are not fighting the guitar to overpower it and they all get their turn to shine. Now let's listen to the remake's version:

Timestamped. There is technically nothing wrong with this track, but it feels like I've been transported from FF7 to a Bloodborne-like game. Too many instruments, too many vocals, too many added riffs and tweaks, and it feels like they're all clashing, etc. It's grandiose in nature but it feels like it's trying too hard to outdo the original Jenova by overpowering you with noise. This is my only worry with the FFX remake.

X is also my favorite . I’d love for them to give it the ff7r treatment . A remake would be cool but I’d much rather get a part 3 to be honest hahaha. That ending has always left me wanting more.

I agree there. I would rather they just keep on remastering their older game and releasing new games in their franchises. This trend of remaking games especially JRPGs has been showing up a lot and it's been turning me off

Remakes can be great. There are a lot of great stories that are worth retelling. RE2R and RE4R are wonderful ways of playing those games. Some of the best remakes I can think of and I'm so glad they made them. Capcom is still churning out lots of other new games though. A company as big as SE can do more than one project at a time. Is SE capable of remaking a game with the same care and nuance as Capcpom?

I don't think so.

Nah, I like the FFX remaster as it is. It was my first game on the PS2 and whenever I play it nostalgia immediately kicks in. Also,I love the beach and summervibes the game gives me.

NO. STOP WITH THE REMAKES.

And this is coming from someone who's first JRPG and like 5th game overall was Final Fantasy X. It's aged perfectly. We don't need to waste another decade milking out FFX remakes.

I'll say no: not because it's a bad game, but because it doesn't need it. FFX is a great game that still looks really good visually thanks to its incredible art direction. It's my go-to recommendation for anybody who's interested in trying FF for the first time, even though it's not my personal favorite.
