Honestly one of the best and most memorable scenes in the game, and not for any stupid meme reason. FFX is such an incredibly special game. It would be a real shame for it to be ruined by a remake from current SE. I'm really against the amount of extra crap they feel like they need to add to FF7R to make it feel more fleshed out or alive. Now we have all these new NPCs in town verbally repeating the same stupid lines and animation on loop. Great this is much better.
I love the
concept of a remake of FFX. Rebuild the game on a modern engine where the animation isn't tied to the FPS, stream line the sphere grid - I like the sphere grid in concept but jesus christ speed it up. Blitzball as a concept is actually pretty fun too, but needs to be retooled to - you guessed it - be faster. So much "holding the game back" was just limitations of the hardware. Keep it turn based. Keep the rock paper scissors combat mechanic. Since Yuna's summons replace the entire party, it's a good opportunity to really flex and make them feel huge/intimidating. Pull some influence from 16. The summoner battles have the potential to be a real spectacle; fights against Sin, etc.
A remake has an enormous amount of potential. As a game that has a lot of voice acting, though, people have grown up with and grown attached to those actors and that acting direction. Unless they just like straight up lift the old dialog in a 1:1 remake, it's going to hit different.
