S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl ⚠️|☢︎T|⚠️ Don't Be a Menace to Bloodsucker While Trying to Catch an Olive in The Zone

The side mission ("A Sign of Hope”) I wanted to complete is still broken and can’t be completed because I can’t access the quest giver when I go to return to him. This character is also necessary to complete a main mission so this might be the end of the road for my playthrough for now. Not sure if the game will fix itself when I get up to that main mission.

Don’t think any motion blur has been added to quality mode on Series X. This really should be added. Controller vertical invert setting still resets when closing and opening the game. But that’s a minor inconvenience since I’ve had the game suspended in quick resume a lot of the time.

Try this?

This is the mod that improved A-life in my game: Shay's Living Zone (An A-Life mod)
With it the game feels so much better.

These are the mods I've been using:

xCRl2RV.png

Skif's pistol feels so good to use. I'm John Wicking all the time. Zombies are a pleasure to fight, headshots feel even better than in the original.

The Controller effect was better before, new one looks like a shitty floating camera.

Whelp, looks like a certain thing is bugged for everyone in later parts of the game.

Zalissay's defense from the monoliths, even if you save them and get the radio message that it's all good, if you run far away from it, you then get the message that Zalissay has fallen and the traders etc inside it are gone now.

sigh.
Not going to read it, but how far whatever it is in the game? I only left Lesser Zone last week and haven't played since, will continue playing today.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

It's pretty late, it's not a story thing or game breaking, just something related to a settlement with side quests.

Not sure if the new patch fixed it, cause I'm already way past that point now and don't have an earlier save to re-check.

Well then, by the time I get there with the pace I play cuz of the lack of free time during workdays, they'll fix it 10 times over:messenger_grinning_sweat:

I guess we'll see when someone else mention it here or not, but in huge and complex games like this, bugs and all sorts of stuff related to quests and NPC are inevitable. Someone already trying to enable A-Life in the game and it's causing all sorts of issues so no wonder it's not live yet on release cuz it's going to be one giant bug fest otherwise.

So how many of us are still using Skif's 9mm or did you switch to the .45 ACP?

30~ hours and still rocking Skif's handgun + silencer.

I reached Malachite. Still took 9000 coupons to repair a 75% armor :(

If the indicators over shops are red, they charge you a lot more for repairs, white is neutral and green is friendly, which charges you less than average.

Also, I've become so used to the games floaty dead zones that now that they've somewhat "fixed" it, it feels like the controls are too heavy, lol.

Gonna have to train myself on this for a few hours, I guess.

I finally started. Holy crap is this good. I’m glad my life was too hectic to start and got to start after the first big patch.

Enjoy broski!

It's fantastic.

Important changes for me;

Fixed groups of NPCs getting stuck and dying near Shelter during active Emission.
Weapons and armor repair cost is decreased.
Significantly increased cost of artifacts (more revenue from selling).
Money reward for most missions is increased from 2 to 3 times.
Armor durability is increased by 12.5 percent.
Slightly rebalanced Bloodsucker’s damage.
Decreased Bloodsucker’s strike protection rank (more damage from guns).
Reduced Boodsucker’s HP regeneration outside the combat
Resolved numerous mission blockers and bugs encountered under specific conditions.

Feels better on the Xbox now. I prefer to play it on my PC but I get Unreal Engine errors occasionally. Usually happens once and then I can play for a while after the error/crash. Have not been on the PC version since the patch so I hope I get a little relief in that area. I think I will likely restart my run since the new changes would save me a lot of early scratch. Plus, I missed out on some early quests that seemed bugged like doors not opening and the like.

Bah, most of these read like they made things easier.

Finally found a better armor. It's Duty. Was able to upgrade to finally get a lead container slot. The SIRCAA suit before had great element protection but I couldn't buy a single lead container. Now I have four artifact slots. One medium weight increase in the lead container and another medium weight increase paired with two weak radiation reducing artifacts to cancel out its medium RAD poisoning.

These are the types of mistakes that grind my gears the most with developers today. I I'm always asking myself the same god damn question ... "how did you not _______?" ..... "think to put motion blur into your fps especially in 30 fps mode" or "think that your dead zones were set correctly for controller" or "think that people wouldn't notice the input lag" or "not notice how bad your game is stuttering" etc etc

What I don't get is why they didn't put the game into beta testing.

Looks like it's still bugged in new and exciting ways

This is crazy stuff. The game is really good and you can tell that the developers put a lot of work into crafting it, but right now is just unfinished and I am not playing it anymore until its parched and working as intended. I am seeing so many bug reports with that mission in reddit and discord, its insane. I play games to enjoy and having a good time, not to get angry and this shit makes me really angry. I wish gaming companies would stop releasing broken games but here we are. So frustrating

New patch is up. Fixes progress bugs in key missions, and a couple of crashes. 10gb.

To all stalkers who continue to explore the Zone in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2: Heart of Chornobyl — Patch 1.0.2 on PC (Steam, Epic Store, GOG) is now available for download. It will also be available for download on Xbox and Microsoft Store soon.

So, what is in patch 1.0.2?
  • Fixed an issue when the second wave of Monolith soldiers would not spawn during the “On the Edge” mission, blocking further progression.
  • Fixed the issue when Richter could be found dead during the “A Minor Incident” mission, blocking further progression.
  • The fixed issue was a player could get stuck after installing the fuse in the Wild Island area if they got the Emitter from Faust's Cell first during the “Just Like the Good Old Days” mission, blocking further progression.
  • The fixed issue was when a player could not successfully complete the “All That is Left” mission while exploring the Chemical Plant region.
  • Fixed issue when quest enemies could spawn in unreachable areas for a player during the “Down Below” mission, blocking further progression.
  • Fixed an issue when Scar could be missing during the “Visions of Truth” mission.
  • A few more EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors are fixed.

Are those the quests most people reported being bugged or some are missing? haven't reached so far and didn't had any game breaking bug yet, very good they are patching things quickly, hopefully it's the most important quests.

Hopefully this fixes quests where parts automatically fail for no reason.

Lol apparently that mission with Zalyssia is still bugged after two patches saying that the mission is now fixed

Yeah that is the only thing in the game that has geuinely pissed me off, not just because it's bugged to fail even if you win, but it also takes away one fast travel point from the map permanently. And the game already has too few of them as it is.

And now I'm so far away from that point that even if they fix it, I don't have any saves to revisit.

GOTY-2024 for me, without a doubt. One of the best FPS games of all time. Sometimes I wonder if I'm getting bored of games, but then amazing games like this come along and remind me why I love gaming so much. Wondering if I'll encounter a bug that prevents me from progressing in the main story doubles the excitement of the game :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Good job GSC game world!

Second patch is live on Xbox, 8.4 GB, downloading at snail speed.

Just doing a mental math of how much I've downloaded for this game.

145GB initial pre-load
136GB day 0 patch
36GB day 1 patch
12GB yesterday's patch
8GB today's patch

And I didn't regret a single KB of it.

Fantastic game. Probably in my running for the top 3 of the year for me.

Yesterday I watched a 50 minute video of a dude exploring Pripyat.
The tension and atmosphere were fantastic.

I wanted to wait but I'm downloading the Ultimate edition now on XSX.
I kept up with most of this thread so I'm aware of the game's state.

But I have to play this now at night with headphones 🙂

If you're not too finicky about 30 FPS, I would recommend the Quality mode over Performance.

It's a lot more stable and you get the more visual flair.

I finished the story last night. Folks who are saying this game is special/great/awesome are right, and so are the ones saying it's broken.

To complete the game, I had to use console commands at multiple points, and for the entire last stretch of the game past the point of no return, I had non-stop pop-ups and sound queues for the side missions that were no longer complete-able.

Looking forward to replaying this in a couple years.

For now, I'm going to play some Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl because I've never beaten it and want to see how it compares.

Same, it has many issues and i've yet to see if i'll encounter game breaking bugs, but this game is like crack.

Haven't seen this in screenshots or video so I might ask - reloaded a save and my game is now super orange, even after fully restarting it (and the ingame weather is calm), doesn't happen to older saves, any idea what's going on..?

You're not gonna be dissappointed. Even with all the jank and bugs, it's probably the best immersive sim of all time.

There are many games you play. There are very few you live.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the kind you breathe.

Are you sure that you aren't just near or just past an emission?

Yeah, it's usually that bright either immediately before or after one.

If it's stuck like that .. well I guess you're stuck in a perpetual pre/post emission phase :p

edit: speaking of. Emissions is such a cool concept, when it hits, literally everyone hauls ass into safety. I even had a case where a few *enemy* soldiers were hiding in a building like me, and they were so focused on the emission that they didn't even bother attacking me.

In all of my life of playing games I have never seen a game not know if you are playing with a m/kb or controller like this game. The game seems completely possessed and flashes both types of controls on the screen. It also keeps popping up the same notifications like every second. The quality control on this game is dog shit.

Could you elaborate ?

Could you elaborate ?
If you are asking him to elaborate on the progression thing. There is what seems to be a common issue (I ran into it bad enough that I couldn't complete the game despite being on the second to last mission) where quests simply won't complete despite all objectives being completed or you will complete the quest but the next main quest will not activate.

The fix was to download UE Developer tools mod and there is a command you can type in to either complete the mission, prompt the next mission, or both. Personally I had to do this for almost every single mission past like 60% completion.

It's possible that loading an old save could have fixed/prevented this but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if the latest patch removed this either.
