I am sure they have plenty of DEI left. It is not going anywhere soon. They will still spend first 10 minutes of every meeting going over everybody's pronouns and physical appearance. We will still be dealing with body types A and B and pronouns in their games.

It's not about hating diversity, women or being racist. It's that people can tolerate only so much of being constantly guilt-tripped and preached on.

DEI was "supposed" to make business more profitable, but the actuality is that its proven to be massively cash-negative due to controversy and backlash.
Unfortunately for institutions where the negative impact isn't so obvious on the balance sheets (like government and education) no doubt its going to stick around for some time yet.
I dont see how DEI has ever had a chance of being a big profit booster UNLESS the PR image trying for brownie pts (ie. companies changing the logo pride colours for July while not giving a shit about anything about the actual cause or parade) is so successful it outweighs any negative parts.

So whichever HR or marketing people jumping on the DEI train (there's no way this kind of stuff would originate from sales, finance, supply chain or any crew in the warehouse) somehow convinced execs if they gun for this virtue signaling, it'll boost financial projections with a big upward arrow on a chart. Or heck, maybe some of this comes from execs???? Hard to believe.

Sounds crazy. If anyone pushed hard for this stuff at my company, everyone from the junior analyst to Marketing VP would laugh and tell that person stick to core business strategies and hire good people over a check box.

Look man, the way I see it, if you really believe MS is doing this for some reason, its hard to then think them publicly telling you they are stopping is REALLY them stopping, for all you know they are doing this to pretend they are done with it and just continue that same work secretly, as lots of propaganda is subliminal anyway.

So...what would even be the "best news"? The appearance that they stopped?

So...I don't care much about any of the whole "woke" or "DEI" or this one has an "agenda" about this that or the third, but as a lover of conspiracies, I rarely believe the subject that is saying they are closing, shutting down, stopping the "thing" as ever really doing it, they are saying that FOR YOU to see and believe. If you believed they would do this to harm, you should then doubt their public statements about stopping it in the first place.

Look at it logically, how many "evil" companies do you know that really tell you they stopped doing the bad thing, really actually stop? You sure the company that would do this, would also tell you the truth bud?

So someone can see this as some idea that they won something, if you really believe MS would do this to be evil, you should maybe not believe they'd really shut down this team.

I’ve seen it claimed a lot. Never seen numbers and case study proof.
That’s because it doesn’t happen. When you employ people solely based on race/gender and whatever the long list of DEI “identity” bs or whatever the fuck they push down humanities throats, and not simply who is the most qualified for ANY job or career, the overall standards are lower so goes production, so no, if you hire less qualified people simply based on some DEI metric, you will not get the best out of your company production wise or profit wise.

I will be pissed off, if my company uses me as a black token to fill out their diversity quote.
By this logic though, 343 should be shut down too. They hired unqualified people just because they were women. Instead of who's best for the job regardless of gender.

There’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
The way I’ve had it explained to me is that it’s not so much diverse aren’t afforded opportunities but rather they don’t take them as they have a negative mindset from the outset that they don’t belong and won’t try.

I’m 100% onboard with improving that, we should be giving them more opportunities and showing them they can get those jobs.

The part where I disagree is where anyone should get a role over others who are qualified. But maybe those without the skills should start as interns, and that’s the way in, learn from the ground up.

In addition to becoming the first Fortune 100 tech company to commit to gender parity in leadership, HP announced several other 2030 targets, including reaching greater than 30% technical women and women in engineering roles, meeting or exceeding labor market representation for racial/ethnic minorities in the U.S., maintaining higher than 90 percent rating on its internal inclusion index for all employee demographics annually, and reaching one million workers through worker empowerment programs.

Bro you are barking up the wrong tree I PROKISE you. I am a retired FDNY Firefighter. I was a first responder at 9/11 and worked down there for 7 months.

Shortly after the liberal fucking DEI total fucking mess that is NYC (where I was born, raised, worked and put my life on the line every single day for) started slowly creeping in and 3 times a year they would close our firehouse down (and every firehouse in the city of NY had to do this), to drill DEI bullshit into is. First issue is they close a firehouse for that nonsense exposing the civilians we were first due too for a fire medical emergency or whatever.

Then came the “hiring freeze” because the city was sued by groups because they determined it wasn’t “inclusive”. End result, we had an 80 lb woman assigned to our firehouse who was totally fucking useless. She literally almost got all the rest of us killed at a bad fire.

Point is this isn’t about “equality and inclusion”, every single profession or career has a certain standard, criteria, requirements whatever, and when you have to lower them just to get your workforce to where your DEI stats are where you think needs to be to satisfy some radical left bullshit agenda.

Marinate on that. This isn’t just about game development companies or publishers, or corporate. It’s everything. Lower standards for military, police officers, and on and on.

Then wonder why things are fucked up all around. Look in the mirror about your fucking policies and the results they produce.

I definitely agree but I feel we generally share the same sentiment regarding this topic.

I think the person that should get the job of course should be the one that is the best qualified, I personally believe any marginalized people or minorities that are looking to get inside of the game industry if they are fearful of any type of prejudice they should look to be independent because the reality is as an artist myself nothing is stopping someone from creating something for themselves.

They don't need to be part of some big publisher, So if they go in independently create a game nobody could ever argue that the we're only hired because they were this or that because technically they hired themselves lol

So I'm a firm believer in nobody could speak for us, but us.

So I look at both perspectives somebody could assume someone got a job simply because of their demographic and the person who got the job fairly might be fearful that they're not getting a promotion is based on a prejudice.

So take themselves out of the equation and go independent. Try out the free market and then when your successful let those publishers come to you....

The economical explanation is speculation!

When interest rates are low for long periods of time, investors have the incentive to stop doing due deligency and just gamble on the stock market like a cassino. Just pick a cheap stock with upside potential(like a silicon valley startup that promises to be the next Paradigm shift) , put your money there and just wait for infinite profits. During this mania phase it was almost impossible to lose money since everything went up. Even animals such as octopus or ants could outperform the market averages by just guessing a stock. The only way you could lose money in such degenerate enviroment is if the company got itself in some kind of controversy such as an environmental disaster,sexual assault alegations,racial discrimination accusations or, in the case of pharmaceutical companies,if the FDA didn't aprove your new drug.

That's when ESG came in. Blackrock and the wall street boys realized that in such environment profitability and sustentability of a company didn't matter because the stock would go up anyway. As long as a company is good with the environment,women and minorities the stock will go up. So Blackrock and the gang created the ESG score which is an index that tracks how much of a good boy you and your company are about those issues. DEI is part of it,it's a department that companies need to have whose job is to ensure compliance to ESG.

Blackrock made money by buying stock in this companies when they were small and selling when the price went parabolic. The ESG score became a """safety""" index for this period of mass speculation.
So I guess if FED reinstates ZIRP in 2024-2025, ESG/DEI will make a comeback?
