It's shocking but it seems there are way too many of these desperately sad 'review' outlets/people with a painfully obvious bias for MS. I'm sure there are one or two that are the same for PS but it seems lopsided.

What is it about Xbox that attracts these long suffering acolyte types? Why are there so many of them hiding under the facade of a 'reviewer'?
Money. They are paid.

After Phil interview a few days ago, I stopped stressing about this. I can get that what he said was divisive for most people, but it made sense to me. They were in a bad position, could not cancel it and trusted Arkane to do the job. This I knew it before the interview. But hearing Phil talk I got a theory. In this case, and maybe in others, I feel like they were patrons, and not a corporation wanting to get money. Like they got a creative studio wanting/stuck trying to make a game, and let them continue working on it. When it was clear that Redfall was not ready, they push it back. But there is a limit to how much money they can loose on charity, so they let the game ship in May. I know that many will mock me for this. But I have no other explanation. I let it go. If Starfield had the same problem, I hope that I will be able to accept it too.

If they wanted to let the team do their thing, they could have made less hype about it and put it out at $50 or even given it out on gwg. Get the spotlight off it. Playing this up like the next big thing was crazy.

I was thinking last night, sony handled destruction allstars pretty well. They stopped showing it and then gave it away. Flying nap of the earth. Had that game come out at $70 as planned, it could have been a black eye for them. Mistakes were made and who knows how a bad game got that far, but they gave it out for an extended time on plus and it just went away.

So do we have any footage of the vertical slice these previewers played? Some excuses coming from them on why they where so positive.

They couldn't use video from their preview. They had to use b-roll footage. That should have been an indicator the game was in trouble there.

Quoting this because I feel that the last part would be easily put in this thread as a post:
What’s fascinating about this is that there’s not one specific issue to point to. There’s no political review bombing thing going on because of “ woke” whatever. The game does not run well on PC, certainly, but it’s not outright broken. Jedi Survivor runs a lot worse on PC right now, I’d argue. It’s just…everything, all the big and small things the game does wrong to add up to a woeful final product. I’ve said I cannot find anything redeeming about Redfall, and I guess I’m not alone.
The game is not that bad. It just suck a bit on everything. And is maybe used as a stand in to be angry at Xbox too. That is how we got to 70 pages.

Everyone is wrong except you amirite?
Not what I said. And even if I made the argument that people who played the game know more than people who haven't tried it, we just established that the OT has 300 posts so that's also not just me. So no, you're not right. But good try in framing what I said in the most exaggerated and unflattering light possible.

300 posts with the same few folks propping it up like they are having fun and there’s no game issues? You have like 50 posts in there alone. You might as well go sit in a corner with senjutsu. So yeah, you’re wrong and reviewers are right about this 💩.

If you search for my posts in there I said I think the game is likely going to land on a 6/10 for me (just completed the half way point). I posted about a bug I encountered also. Also mentioned more than once that it's clearly not optimized graphically.

You're really bad at this.

I am having fun with the game though, but acknowledging two thoughts at once would require a bit of nuance so nevermind all that.

It’s fine that you like bad games, but don’t claim that folks don’t know what they’re talking about.

If the people who have actually tried the game are an extremely small number, and the people dunking on it and watching just the reviews is a giant number, then most of the people don't really know what they're talking about.

They know enough to make an informed guess on if they want to play it or buy it. That's what a review covers, and that's totally fine and you have no obligation to go past that. But they obviously know less than someone who has actually played it. Someone who has actually played it will probably see more shades of gray and be able to note positive things about the game and negative things. It's real easy for the bandwagon to exaggerate and distort it. It seems like there was a potentially cool game here that got severely rushed.

It's why the game has 58 metacritic, instead of 30.
The game is there, but bugs and other stuff destroyed the game.

No need to defend it. Arkane fucked up the game badly, even with the delay.

Any time some piece of shit game is pooped onto gamepass you can always count on the same handful of people to say any (combination) of the following:
  • "I'm having fun"
  • "It's fun with friends!"
  • “bUt hAvE yOu AcTuALlY pLaYeD iT"
It's fucking sad. Not only do you clearly not have any standards for yourself in terms of what you decide to spend your time playing, but you also have no standards for the platform who are forcing you to defend this crap.

The more you do it, the worse it gets. You get what you deserve.

I'm rating it near what the MC average is, but still have yet to complete the game. The game is fun, but has numerous flaws.

I don't know what triggered you but you can leave me out of it. As usual, I didn't say anything to you because you just want a fight over nothing.

Hard to Kill
The announcement a few days ago was that Redfall made $3 million on Steam in three days. If that's true and the Steam price is $70, that means 3,000,000x.70.

That means that in three days just on Steam and nowhere else, Redfall sold 2.1 million copies, pretty good.
You've just killed math....If they made 3 millions then it is 3 000 000/70 which is around 43 000.

The game is crap. Everyone can see the gameplay all over the Internet. Everyone can read and hear what the reputable and we'll regarded reviewers have to say about it. When they are saying don't even bother to download it even if you have gamepass or "don't even get gamepass for this", you know its bad. Nobody needs to waste their time playing it, it's just you, sage and others if that ilk pumping engagement numbers.

But as usual here you are, defending utter tripe. Sorry you can't find anything better to spend your time playing.

Well done being part of the 14%, elite company I'm sure:

But don't worry, I'm sure we'll see you acting the high brow contrarian in threads about whatever the next highly rated game is. Not suspicious in the slightest.

Good Lord did you fail at math. You should’ve just read that article it did the math for you and said about 50k copies sold, which i doubt.

Nah, you're not secret at all.
Exhibit A: I rated Redfall a 6/10
Exhibit B: I purchased God of War Ragnarok for full price but dropped it after 10 hours because I was bored with it.

Sentence: Death

Just inform the mods and get it over with. You've proven your case beyond a shadow of a doubt. Everyone knows it's literally impossible to be bored with a polished game with high production values. Checkmate.
