PS5 and PC connection to same Bookshelf Speakers?

Probably a dumb/simple question but how can I setup my bookshelf speakers on my desk to be connected to both my ps5 and pc and play the sound based on which using at the time?

My speakers have (1) optical (2) usb (what my pc is currently connected with) (3) aux

Thought I could get away with just a usb splitter but wanted to check here first to see what other smarter people have done with their dual desk setups.

I've the same setup (actually needed to spend a bit more to get bookshelf speakers with optical)

Speakers are plugged into my TV via optical (LG C2 OLED), so they play what the TV plays

I had to mess around in the TV settings for audio out. It didn't work automatically.

So........ my PS5 does NOT recognize my KEF LSX ii speakers at all. I tried directly connecting them in via USB and it never gave me the option to switch to any audio other than my Computer Monitor which of course is garbage.

*I just realized my comment is worthless. (and still might be even after edit)

I recommend you run your speakers to a DAC then run your DAC to 3.5mm on the back of your monitor.

HDMI eARC if your display supports it, or bluetooth. You'd need a BT dongle for the latter to work.

Not bluetooth.
Bluetooth has lag and you do not want aufio lag while gaming.

Optical from your TV/Monitor to the speaker or get an HDMI Audio extractor

PS5 only supports audio trough UAC 1.0, it's a deprecated standard that most dacs don't support anymore. You could buy a DAC that supports UAC1.0 and conect your speakers into it, using whatever outputs the dac has. Any dac based on PCM2704 will work, like https://www.ebay.ca/itm/353618689473 or even an USB to toslink like this one. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BHW6PBR2...R3HBF62NEQ1888F1V&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=1
Those options should work if you're willing to conect your speakers directly to your PS5.

You could also conect the speakers to your monitor/tv, but we will need more info on the audio outputs it has in order to help you. But, if it's an "normal" pc monitor, I wouldn't use it as a audio bridge, because they will impose some shitty equalization that will fuck up your audio quality.

I am an audio IDIOT - can you use a DAC if the speakers are powered (i.e. don't need an amp and power themselves)

I see JDS labs has some sort of cable that handles this but no clue if they make quality products

Yes, you can. The contrary is more unlikely to work, as dacs don't usually act as amplifier.

It seems that the cable is a repeater/limiter with firmware that only works with JDS dacs. You could buy it to test, but the site does mention it is only to be used with the product's brand.

cheapest way would be if your tv has optical out--use that.
then buy an adapter so you can plug two optical cables into your speakers

adapter should cost $20 or less.

optical is fine for stereo

OK so I found a "solution" PS5 HDMI - Monitor - Monitor 3.5 Cable Out of "Headphone" port to Speakers and using Aux input on my speakers - sound quality seems ok but wondering if I'm missing something

Check for monitor for settings/volume.

Not that all monitors are like this but IIRC when I tried mine way back I didn't like the delay it adding by passing through the monitor.

I wish they still had both the HDMI and legacy port like PS3/4 so you could get video and audio out separately with no delay anywhere (without buying extra shit)

Yeah good point. I just messed around on the home screen and the Beeps seemed to not have any noticeable lag but I'll be on the lookout my monitor is an acer predator xb283k don't see anything in the menus on delay or any audio settings really other than volume

Yeah volume is probably all there is on a monitor but that could still mess you up if it was really low and you needed to jack your speakers lol

no, youre good

only concerns are quality and lag:
you arent noticing lag, so youre good there.
youre relying on your monitor to convert the digital audio to analog, and your monitor's DAC wont be the best, so the audio quality wont be the very best... but thats the only "issue".

Compare it to the quality that it outputs trough your dualsense. See if it's any better (yeah, connect the same 3.5mm audio in your dualsense instead of the monitor, it will work).

Like I said, most of the time, the quality and the eq of monitor's output is very shitty, specially LG. If you're happy with the results, ok, if not, use it until you buy some dac in order to ditch the monitor pass-through.

Edit: saw above that you have an acer Monitor, I didn't have used it's dac yet, maybe it's decent (or even good). Check your dualsense audio output to see if there's any noticeable difference and judge by yourself if there's need to buy extra hardware.

This is actually how I got audio out of my Series X. The only reason I had a controller connected was audio it was a mouse/keyboard setup for Halo. Then if I didn't remember to touch the controller once in a while it would disconnect, disable the mouse in the middle of a firefight and flash "reconnect controller" on screen.

Honestly I felt like a chump with a dumb setup.

PC/Ps5 >> HDMI >> TV >> Optical Out >> Speakers

PC >> P2/Coaxial >> Speakers

I would leave PC with this second audio out because if for some reason you want to listen to audio while pc is on but TV is off, this way you can.

100% this. Going from TV to speakers lets you have that entire device feeding into one output which simplifies that, then you switch over to PC sound for that.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to mix the two, and I have only ever seen combined output when it was from an analog input into my stereo and I wanted to play CDs as well.

There are optical input splitters that will work if only one of the two is inputting at a time, but won't work at all if both are trying. So there's that to watch out for.

I have an HDMI switch that breaks out audio to another output. I never ended up having to use the feature but that's one reason i went with this one because I've been in that sitch before.

Damn. Search VHD-PRO3X1.

Everything was already answered on the OT posts.
Thread is a mess. Can’t figure anything out.

Anyways noticed OP asking some stuff I can answer.

-JDS labs is top tier company. Buy with confidence.

-Use auxiliary with dac for best sq. Connecting a hp out will result in double amping that will reduce quality.

The fuck are you doing m8?
Anyway OP…. Use loose sets. Speakers receiver.. amp etc..

You can connect 7 sources on your denon. Well if your telly has hmdi arc add 3 on top.
