Been out of the Country for a while, but I’m back now and have been spending some time gaming. I got the 100% for Ragnarok this year. Overall, I thought it was great, but I do agree with some that there’s a little too much walkie talkie, and more fighting would have been welcome. Although the combat is excellent. Luckily, the Valhalla DLC makes up for a lot with constant action and I thought it was excellent additional content.

I also completed Team Sonic Racing while I was away. This is honestly not a game I had planned to platinum, but I downloaded it for my niece and nephew to play and accidentally forgot to log out of my account before letting them play. I shortly discovered they had unlocked a few trophies for the game, and well, we can’t leave a trophy list unfinished now can we? ~40 hours later and I was glad to be done with this one.

It’s actually a competent kart racer, but it was quite difficult on some of the challenge stages, and the opponent AI on expert difficulty in the grand prix races felt very cheap and frustrating at times. But like most difficult plats, it’s usually just an exercise in a stubborn refusal to quit.

Aside from that, I rushed through a NG+ playthrough of Spider-Man 2 to get the trophy for beating it a second time and take back my 100% status.

The grind of Rise of the Ronin is getting to me though I got most of the chapter 2 areas to level 3 today. I'm OCD with this type of game and am doing more than I even need to for platinum lol

Final Fantasy 7 platinum would have been hell without 3x speed and R3 cheat mode for grinding out materia and such. So many things to grind at the end.

After Ronin I might tackle Rebirth but 150 hours? Might just have to mainline and maybe hit a few side quests and just enjoy the story the first time through

Scored the plat on Outlast Trials today. A bit weird trophy list, all mirroring in-game badges, which boil down to doing a specific thing x amount of times, convenient to check progress on. Nothing hard nor fancy and eventually everything is awarded for just playing the game long enough, but a few have slightly overkill requirements that force you to focus on certain perks, like lockpicking. I love the game so it didn't feel like a grind to me, but sure isn't for everyone.

Always a fine line between reaching for a Platinum through sheer enthusiasm for the game itself or doing so because it's grown to be a habit.

I recently dropped The Last Spell with only 3 trophies missing. I didn't even set out to go for Platinum because of the relentless difficulty but the game was such a blast to play that i kept doing so and got closer and closer to it. I would have it in me in terms of difficulty alone but ultimately got burned out by the game after around 150 hours. I had trouble to admit this and to let go initially.

Joking aside, I somewhat agree with what you're saying. Took me years to plat CoD black ops. The game became mind-numbing when I had devoted incessant amount of time to it. It took the ultra rare platinum status to sway me. I like to take my time with platinums, but some times I get into the groove of trophy hunting though.

Some games lend themselves better to be played in an on/off matter over a greater timespan in regards to trophies but i just like to be done with a game. The Last Spell also required so much knowledge to make progress that i'm sure if i would come back a year later i would need to start all over in acquiring that knowledge.

It's important to play games for fun and not for trophy hunting but amidst all those great achievements in here, pun intended, it's easy to lose focus and sometimes even the fun when it becomes a habit like i said.

Another example would be Tomb Raider Remastered I-III. In theory only two playthroughs would be needed for the Platinum in the first game, but the amount of prior knowledge for the game and the achivement list together with a heavy attention span to pull it of is kinda impossible. And then it begs the question as to how many playthrough you can stomach. 3, 4 or even 5. Chances are high i lose interest before even starting the second game.

I love DOOM3 so much and played it countless times. Another year another playthrough of the BFG edition where i wondered why i never went for the Platinum. And then i suddenly acquired it after so many years. It felt special thinking i watched trailers for it when i was young and needed to play it at a friends house because we couldn't afford such a powerful PC to even run the game.

Valfaris is another one i play once a year yet i can't get the speedrun down. Still enjoy it.

It's just good to know and to acknowledge when it's time to stop, which is not always easy. Or to come back if it makes sense.

In addition I immensely enjoy the community aspect of it in here. Seeing others posting difficulty trophies, sometimes for games i haven't even heard of, is always entertaining. Then i shake my head and wonder how you did it. It feels like that we achieved something together although it's the trophies of the individuals.

Platinum #42 FF7 remake

Played the game when intergrade launched but never went back through on hard mode. Game is tricky at times but nothing too difficult. A long time to complete though but it is such an amazing combat system. Going to play intermission and then take a break before Rebirth. FF7 remake, it was a pleasure.

My game of the year so far. And not just because i'm a fan of Niklas Åkerblad or Oskar Rydelius but because there is an awesome game beneath the stellar presentation. A game that subverted my early expectations as to what it would be about and ultimately transcended into a meditative experience. No handholding. Brain is required!

Platinum wasn't hard but needed a bit of dedication for completing the map to 100% and to "solve" the late game "puzzles". Saying anything more would ruin the fun.

#105 - Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster (PS4)

I went to play this for the nostalgia since it's from a time when i still cared for Star Wars and were we would gather to enjoy the likes of X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter and such games. And I obviously have a thing for old games the older I get. After playing this i hope for and would love to see the same treatment for Dark Forces II. This together with Mysteries of the Sith is one of the best Star Wars games for me.

Platinum is fairly easy and while there are theoretically missable trophies here, chances are very high that you will get the Platinum when the credits roll no matter what. Still some fun puzzles, loads of movie references and fun to have along the way.

It's like a 3 hour ride of constant E-11 Blaster sounds with Stormtroopers shouting "Surrender immediately!" or "Stop rebel scum!". :messenger_tears_of_joy: Kinda hilarious, i love it.

man you should check out Boltgun. I'm not the biggest fan of retro boomer shooters and I was never into Warhammer but I couldn't put it down for more than 10 levels. It's really well made and now on gamepass

I was going to do jedi survivor next and will start when I'm finished the watch dogs DLC and it's added to PS Plus but there's a few Easy platinum games leaving ps extra on May 21st so most likely one of those.

#236 - Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

After multiple false starts I finally sat down to polish this one off and I’m glad I did. Just unbelievably good. At 110 hours I think it’s my longest plat and I loved every minute. Even the post game grind was so fun and satisfying, I wasn’t ready for it to end. Can’t wait for the next one.

#107 - Ultros (PS5)

The last gen version has some minor visual hiccups and some sprout knots missing. Kinda weird to have such obvious differences between these. PS5 version is the way to go. Still a mesmerizing experience. If I had to criticize something, it would be that the moveset was underutilized. Sleeper hit. If i wasn't so lazy i would make a thread to tell people to play it. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I'm working on this currently and don't really understand the collectible requirements - do you have to get all 972 collectibles or not? I keep getting conflicting info. Congrats!

collectibles are divided between multiple trophies, like on for codex entries, data bank items etc. But not all of them, not sure how many but I got it before the final chapter on my first playthrough

MediEvil was a series I’ve never gotten around to for some reason despite being a longtime gamer on PlayStation. But since the PS1 version was recently added to the PS+ classics with a remaster and trophy support, and with the rumors of an upcoming remake of the sequel, I figured it a good time to check out the original.

I don’t know what took me so long, because this game was pure fun from start to finish.

- A 3D hack n slash platformer with metroidvania characteristics. You have the ability to replay any levels you’ve beaten in order to unlock paths and secrets in the level you couldn’t previously get to until you acquire new abilities and weapons. The level structure actually reminds me of Doom of all games, where you go about the level looking for colored keycards in order to unlock doors and gates and further progress in the level. Only in this case, you’re looking for colored runes instead of keycards.​

- Great sense of exploration for a PS1 game, with over 20 levels that are all varied and unique. Interesting environments such as underground catacombs, graveyards, forests, scarecrow fields, a flying ghost ship, the inside of an ant colony, to name a few. The levels have lots of hidden areas tucked away when they are explored thoroughly.​

- Much more varied arsenal of weaponry to use than I anticipated. Each level has a golden chalice you have to find and can only collect if you’ve killed enough enemies in the level. Once you collect the chalice for that level, you get transported to the “Hall of Heroes” which is kind of like a central hub where you can turn in your chalices for rewards and new weapons. By the end of the game you have anything from magic bows, an axe, lightning magic, spears, to throwing knives, various swords and shields, even chicken drumsticks that turn enemies into cooked chicken that you can eat to restore health.​

- It’s got that gothic vibe throughout reminiscent of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, with macabre visuals and dark imagery, but at the same time retains a sense of humor to the whole thing.​

- One negative I have to point out that I’ve read throughout the years and have to agree with is the camera in this game. Trying to manually rotate it can be a real pain and it often feels like it’s fighting against you. I personally just stopped trying to wrestle with it and let it rotate the way it wants to on its own while controlling Sir Daniel Fortesque, but it does leave you at times in some undesirable camera angles when you have platforming sections. A glaring flaw in an otherwise great game.​
Overall it still holds up well today, so I imagine it must have been a very impressive title when it released in 1998. I was hooked from start to finish over the two days it took me to platinum, which was around 12 hours in total. In fact, I liked the game so much that I’ve decided to eventually also play through the PSP version, MediEvil Resurrection, as well as the PS4 remake just to see how they differ from the original.

My tribute to Tribute Games best game. A wonderful mix of genres and mechanics, wrapped into a passionately crafted pixelopus that is oozing with love and charme on every corner. Hard to let go.

Platinum is a heavy grind for crafting materials. Not as demanding as i initially thought but still time consuming. The weapon crafting itself however is incredibly fulfilling and what kept me engaged. Shout out to 4 player couch co-op and a stellar soundtrack.

When i screamed: "MO0OVE OUT!" because the Colonel said so and started to nod my head for Jungle Theme II while the missus was rolling her eyes next to me for the hundredth time i knew this was special. :pie_roffles:

Awesome game, not an easy plat too! It’s got a 1.38% completion rate on PSNProfiles. Been a while since I played it, but I remember it being a grind collecting all the materials for the gun and knife parts and doing some of the speedrun times for each mission was challenging.

#238 - Metal Gear Solid

Still an all time classic, but requiring all 300 VR missions was rough.

Also if you’re thinking of getting this, on the current patch, it’s easy to get the Fox ranking by playing the French version of the game from the main menu.

I remember it being a grind collecting all the materials for the gun and knife parts and doing some of the speedrun times for each mission was challenging.

Felt out of reach when I started to play but after around 50 hours everything becomes second nature. Finishing the missions in a set time boils down to level knowledge and a mod for faster movement. Nothing really hard but rewarding since you gotta put in the time to gain the experience.

I realised this just minutes away from the Platinum but you can sell weapons and buy them again and they still count towards collecting gun parts. So you can make the hunt for crafting materials very streamlined and much faster. But it also looses it's charme. In the end, unlocking and putting together these weapons is a lot of fun and a key aspect of the game.

#239 - Animal Well

Came around on this quite a bit, there’s some crazy design. But this has way more in common with something like Fez than Metroid. Lots of crazy puzzles but literally zero combat.

Also haven’t been this confused by a ton of 10/10s since Deathloop. Solid 7/10, probably worth 20 bucks.

This is an excellent game that merges an interesting story with unique gameplay. You have the ability to fight enemies in real time, or pause the action, plan out your moves, and then unpause and watch how it plays out. You get a host of skills that can be mixed and matched in interesting ways to different effects. I really liked how any of the skills can be used in an active role, a passive role, or as a support role to any of the other skills.

It has a very striking art style visually with that signature isometric view that Supergiant is known for.

It’s a great story, essentially a love story between a woman and a sword. It’s much more than that, but I won’t get into it further in case anyone hasn’t played it yet but wants to. I’ll just say the story and ending made me think about it long after I had completed it, and even compelled me to go down the rabbit hole on Reddit and read theories others had about it.

There’s a new game+ mode that almost feels vital to play through again. Aside from the fact that it’s required to get the platinum, new game+ has new skill challenges, more skill upgrade combinations, new enemy placement, and slight changes to the story moments as well as different dialogue shown in some parts.

It’s truly one of the great indie games I’ve played recently, but I’m not surprised given SuperGiant and their resumé. I’m really looking forward to finally getting around to Hades in the future, but Pyre will be next.

Definitely think I can provide some tips while the game is still fresh in my memory. I agree with you, I found the guide on PSNP to be lacking, especially with its build recommendation. It can help with some specific trophies such as Everything(), but yeah overall it’s not the most in-depth guide in the world.

One the most challenging trophies is probably going to be Risk() which requires you to get through five enemy encounters with all ten limiters in use. Limiters are the functions that add conditions that make battles more difficult for you, but you get a higher amount of exp for fighting with them on.

For that trophy as well as just running through the game in general, especially the second time around on NG+ I went with this recommended build:


This page does a pretty good job explaining the build but it leaves a little bit out, it’s best to pay attention to the picture of the loadout on that page. It’s basically:

1. Ping(active) + Purge & Load(support)
2. Jaunt + Breach & Tap (the writer says MAYBE Tap, but no, imo Tap is absolutely necessary for the healing it provides)
3. Mask + Mask & Ping
4. Void + Crash & Purge

Your passive functions are Flood, Crash, and Bounce.

While playing, it’s basically as the page says. You use Void and Ping while fighting in real time to weaken and damage enemies. When you take some damage, activate turn mode (when everything pauses and you can plan your moves) and use Jaunt to dash through enemies, dealing damage to them while you heal yourself. When turn mode is recharging, jaunt away from enemies if there are too many, or use mask to go invisible until turn mode can reactivate.

This build will carry you through pretty much most of the game. But keep in mind it does require some duplicate functions to complete the build fully. So it won’t be complete until some time in NG+. So just work your way towards it as you play and the build will keep getting stronger as you go along.

The other challenging trophy is for clearing all of the tests, which are the challenges in the “back door” area. I believe the speed, planning, and stability tests have the functions chosen for you, so it’s just a case of figuring out the most efficient way to work with what they give you.

For the performance tests, I just used the same build I linked to and described above. You get to choose your loadout for performance tests, but the functions they let you pick from are random, so I just kept trying until I was able to make the build I wanted. Once you get Jaunt + Breach & Tap, you can practically win with that alone if you keep activating turn mode.

For the agency tests where you have to fight clones of yourself that can also use the Transistor, I recommend a different build:

1. Void + Purge & Spark
2. Jaunt
3. Tap + Ping
4. Mask

Same passives as before Flood, Crash, and Bounce.

You activate turn mode and go behind the clones because backstabbing them does increased damage than attacking from the front. So activate turn, go behind them, do Void 2x to stack the highest damage multiplier, then do Tap for the rest of your turn mode bar for high damage. Use Jaunt to get away from them, and activating Mask will stop them from being able to use turn mode on you while your turn mode is recharging. Sorry for the length of this post. Some of the things you already probably knew about if you have a decent amount of the trophies already. But it is an older game and since you said you’ll be basically starting from scratch, I figured you could use this as a good reference post if you decide to go back to it. Good luck with the plat!

Definitely think I can provide some tips while the game is still fresh in my memory. I agree with you, I found the guide on PSNP to be lacking, especially with its build recommendation. It can help with some specific trophies such as Everything(), but yeah overall it’s not the most in-depth guide in the world.

One the most challenging trophies is probably going to be Risk() which requires you to get through five enemy encounters with all ten limiters in use. Limiters are the functions that add conditions that make battles more difficult for you, but you get a higher amount of exp for fighting with them on.

For that trophy as well as just running through the game in general, especially the second time around on NG+ I went with this recommended build:


This page does a pretty good job explaining the build but it leaves a little bit out, it’s best to pay attention to the picture of the loadout on that page. It’s basically:

1. Ping(active) + Purge & Load(support)
2. Jaunt + Breach & Tap (the writer says MAYBE Tap, but no, imo Tap is absolutely necessary for the healing it provides)
3. Mask + Mask & Ping
4. Void + Crash & Purge

Your passive functions are Flood, Crash, and Bounce.

While playing, it’s basically as the page says. You use Void and Ping while fighting in real time to weaken and damage enemies. When you take some damage, activate turn mode (when everything pauses and you can plan your moves) and use Jaunt to dash through enemies, dealing damage to them while you heal yourself. When turn mode is recharging, jaunt away from enemies if there are too many, or use mask to go invisible until turn mode can reactivate.

This build will carry you through pretty much most of the game. But keep in mind it does require some duplicate functions to complete the build fully. So it won’t be complete until some time in NG+. So just work your way towards it as you play and the build will keep getting stronger as you go along.

The other challenging trophy is for clearing all of the tests, which are the challenges in the “back door” area. I believe the speed, planning, and stability tests have the functions chosen for you, so it’s just a case of figuring out the most efficient way to work with what they give you.

For the performance tests, I just used the same build I linked to and described above. You get to choose your loadout for performance tests, but the functions they let you pick from are random, so I just kept trying until I was able to make the build I wanted. Once you get Jaunt + Breach & Tap, you can practically win with that alone if you keep activating turn mode.

For the agency tests where you have to fight clones of yourself that can also use the Transistor, I recommend a different build:

1. Void + Purge & Spark
2. Jaunt
3. Tap + Ping
4. Mask

Same passives as before Flood, Crash, and Bounce.

You activate turn mode and go behind the clones because backstabbing them does increased damage than attacking from the front. So activate turn, go behind them, do Void 2x to stack the highest damage multiplier, then do Tap for the rest of your turn mode bar for high damage. Use Jaunt to get away from them, and activating Mask will stop them from being able to use turn mode on you while your turn mode is recharging. This build and strategy also works perfectly for the final boss of the game as well.

Played it because of a trailer in my YT feed that had me intrigued. Platinum popped after 30 minutes halfway through the game. Kinda disappointed as the real challenge started just then. If you're in search of nausea, dizziness and general motion sickness this game will have you on edge. o_O:LOL:
