Finally got around to booting this up and just cleared the 1st full moon.

Completed P3 FES, P3 Portable and might as well go for the hat trick with Reload. :messenger_sunglasses:

I skipped P4 Golden but am down for a remake of that like this as I last played P4 in like 2007.

Nice got the plat a week or so ago. Great game liked P5 more but in some ways the story was better here. Still not sure about what the ending means but I heard a DLC adds more to the story so maybe that will clear up my questions. I can wait either way.

Awesome, I love all modern main Persona games. For me it's P4 > P3 > P5.

Just love the setting of P4 and cast which gives you a warm feeling from start to finish. Whilst I prefer the cast of 3 more than 5.

I hope 6 is set in a town again rather than a city!

P4 is also my favorite, then comes P5 > P3 remake, and all not by much. Those are really deep games

I don't know whether to be sad or relieved I'm not included in the weeb brigade.

I'm a weeb by the way. I know this.

I'll just wait until tomorrow myself. I finished with SMT5: Vengeance this weekend so no time like the present to play another Atlus game! But I can wait an extra day.

There's been so many games focused on soft filmic productions that it felt kinda pleasantly jarring revisiting how sharp the IQ in this game is. Straight up native 4K pixel count with no anti aliasing at all.

Some pics from the first couple of hours.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the same way. 4K/60 with native res on UE. Atlus switching to UE has worked out really great for them compared to other JRPG franchises which have stayed on proprietary engines

My game of the year so far. I had played the version on PSP but never beat it. Really love the visuals and gameplay changes. If the music was a downgrade I did not notice. I did not love the soundtrack as much as P4G but liked it more then Persona 5's. Probably the weakest aspect of the game is the enemy designs, they are just never intimidating or even cool looking. Maybe 2 out of the 10 shadow bosses look neat. I guess (as I remember) Persona 5 fixed this by having us fight the actual Personas rather then shadows, 3 and 4s enemies are just consistently silly looking. Game would be better if the enemies all looked like something out of Silent Hill, warped demonic versions of everyday things/professions (Nurses, teachers, mailmen, etc).

I was very moved by the ending and several other story beats. Love the cast and character designs. Definitely now my favorite Persona game, might be in my personal top 30. Definitely the best JRPG I have played in a long time, probably the last 20 years or so.

If Episode Aigis follows the original version of The Answer, one tip I'd say is that you're going to want to use Metis in your party.

Just finished Episode Aigis and I thought it was great overall, though I think the dungeon could have been 1/5 as long and would have been an improvement. It's mainly the story that kept me interested. Without spoilers, I thought the few fights after the dungeon were really hard but overall the difficulty was normal and what I expected (played on default difficulty). It was great seeing the characters again, learning more about the ending of the main game, and the new character was cool too. I understand that they kept the dungeon similar to the original and that's why it's so long, but it really is a grind to get through. The ending and story was very worth it though.

Also, Heartful Cry is one of the best songs in the entire franchise.

P3: FES was my very first persona or SMT game in general and played it blind knowing nothing about it back in college like 15 years ago and blew my mind. This is definitely on my pick up list.
I think for me, P3 had the best story, P4 had the best cast, and P5 had the best gameplay.

Expansino pass sadly not worth the price
The whole thing absolutely not, but we don't even know the price of The Answer expansion cuz it's bundled with a bunch of useless shit no one needs and it's made like that on puprose to inflate the price.

i'm confused. when i check the network stats it says "spend time with junpei" but i can't find him. i search online and it says you can only spent time with him on certain days. so how are people spending time with him?

where do i get an odd morsel for the dude in the mall?
Not sure about Junpei, but for the odd morsel, you can find those in chests in the earliest floors of Tartarus.

...aaand completed!

I'd already beated FES and P3P in ages past and was always firmly P4 > P3, but now I am reconsidering my stance. :pie_thinking:

I think P4 setting still > P3. But cast and overall conclusion I now give the edge to P3.

I think P3 does the best job in the series of keeping the wider party members all intergral to the story and as important as the MC until the credits roll!

Also considering I've taken the time out to replay the same story 3 times over, whilst P4 just once!

Considering giving this a go once I'm done with FES.

But man, what have they done to Mass Destruction? It sounds soooo bad compared to the original version, the fuck? :goog_relieved:
On the other hand some of the new songs are really nice, like Color Your Night.

I finished the P3 Reloaded a while back - a very worthy remake! I enjoyed the game through and through, including Elizabeth fight and all. Took me quite some time, because I was leveling up my Personas to level 99s almost 1/3 of the whole list. lol...

But for some reason, I couldn't get into the expansion pack. I got rather bored quite quickly and kinda stopped. Since I got that expansion pack from my now expired game pass, so I am not sure that I will be going back....

Arrangements in Reload are all over the place. In general, the new brass is godawful - they sound like low-quality MIDIs? Just... cheap. "Iwatodai Dorm" and "Joy" are hit especially hard. When I heard them for the first time I couldn't believe they made it past QC. For "Mass Destruction", the new female vocalist replacing Yumi Kawamura doesn't get it. Her performance is too clean. Lotus Juice's new lyrics here (and elsewhere) are good but can't make up the difference unfortunately.

"Color Your Night" is a good track but I could never shake the feeling that it was really a track for Persona 4 from the lead synth that... sounds right from Persona 4.

Favorite arrangement in Reload is "Living with Determination -Iwatodai Dorm-". Few changes to the composition but the updated instrumentation improves the experience and I agree with the choice to lower the volume of the percussion in the mix as it's everything else that's the heart of the track. I also love the *piano drop* added in around the minute mark. "Changing Seasons" is another favorite. Some people bemoan the removal of the French lyrics but the new vocals everywhere else bring so much energy to an already energetic track that I didn't know could benefit from some more!

The mixed results on the OST is the only (major) complaint I can think of for Reload btw. Otherwise the whole experience felt crafted by a team that understood the original well and knew what they could add or change without compromising the original feel and vision. I think it's the best way to experience Persona 3.

Oh you are not alone on that feel, song seems straight our of Persona 4.

Thanks for the lengthy post btw, I'm eager to play this remake once I'm done with FES.

Absolutely love the OST.

I feel like the mixing on the OG "Mass Destruction" was far more raw/not as tight, and that served it well. Regardless, I've been playing this OST at work nearly every week since playing the game for the first time back in March.

Color Your Night is full-on frisson when the chorus hits and all the instruments land along with the lady's lovely vocals.

Decided to pick this back up while I wait for path of exile 2 next week.

Came back in during a good time where I got to do a massive amount of floors and not get flooded with too much of bad pacing. Good tunes, good leveling, new mechanics added and more. Got to floor 69 and can't progress further.

I look at this game and really wonder why they couldn't achieve similar fidelity in a game like Metaphor. This is such a beautiful game.

P3R uses mostly static backgrounds and affects. It's has very simple game design and visual presentation.

Whilst Metaphor has a lot more going on in screen, interaction, characters and details. So that would explain the IQ hit I think.

There was one area in the town with the collesium that had a fixed camera camera (where you turn in the bugs) that felt so good. Made me wish more games would use that perspective.

Some of these social links must have been written by a retard.

Maiko, the very young elementary school girl, just confided in me she's going to try to run away from home to see if her mom and dad who are getting a divorce, really love her. This is AFTER her dad just hit her.

Main character response? "I can feel my bond growing stronger now that she confided in me".... Bro wtf? That's not how a normal person AT ALL would react. Either child services, or at the LEAST, you're going to try to talk her out of running away if you're actually bonding with this lonely kid.

Completely rips you out of the experience when you're stuck just watching a train wreck play out. :/
