Cult Letter to the Editors.

How about the abused children; they accepted tickets to Penn State games, lunches, dinners, etc. Didn’t they have motives? Why didn’t they go to their parents, police or school officials? Why are they held blameless? Now, years later, they come forward, including Sandusky’s son.

Apparently it's time to blame the victims.

They got off easy.

I remember that one guy was saying that all football fans are like this and that it was unfair to single out the Penn State culture.

Are all football fans like this?

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Man do I hope the NCAA finally says, "Screw it," and then gives them the 4-year death penalty. They accepted the deal, said they wouldn't appeal, and now they're appealing?

You know, one of the few things I always liked about Penn State (I went to WVU back when we played them and it was a very fierce rivalry) was the lack of names on their uniforms. I thought it showed class and emphasized Team over Individuality (though I can now see a downside to that).

I probably agree with the names being on the back now. It was kinda neat before, but it's pretty much associated with Paterno now, so putting names on the jerseys would be a component of dePaternoization.

That is absolutely disgusting. By the way you can email the opinion editor for that publication here: mailto:[email protected]

Words do not describe the extreme anger I'm feeling right now reading that. I think what Neuromancer there said can't do justice for the anger I feel right now reading that. It's a start though. It's letters like that which make me want that program and school burrned to the ground (figuratively mind you). I really think that football should never be played there again. I really do. They prove time and time again that it's too much of a cult there. One that needs to be dismantled for good.

Looks like bigger press outlets are beginning to look into Corbett's handling of this whole mess

Why did Corbett initially have only one agent on the case and later just two narcotics officers — as opposed to investigators who specialized in child-sex crimes — during most of the 22 months between the time the first allegation was turned over to his office and his ascension to the governor's mansion? And why did the probe gain steam only after his appointed successor, Attorney General Linda Kelly, took charge?

Did Corbett shortchange the Sandusky case because so many agents were assigned to the political-corruption probe called "Bonusgate," which became his main selling point in the gubernatorial election? Did he fear the political ramifications of charging Sandusky and tarnishing the reputation of legendary Penn State coach Joe Paterno, given the popularity of Penn State football across the state? And was he swayed by the fact that some members of the board of Sandusky's charity, the Second Mile, were campaign donors?

What's more, critics have questioned why the Corbett administration went ahead with a $3 million grant for the Second Mile after he became governor, given that he was aware of the serious allegations against the former Penn State defensive coordinator. Corbett has argued that withholding the money would have tipped off the probe's targets.

I hope it doesn't end because there obviously was something severely rotten going on. And this is exactly why the Paternos and the Penn State BOTs should shut the hell up and accept their punishment.

LOL. And that board of trustees member wants to appeal the initial sanctions? Sure, if it means more of this coming out to light and them getting worse sanctions.

I initially thought the NCAA sanctions were good enough, but after seeing the reactions I much would have preferred a 4-year death penalty.

These idiots will be able to weather having a shitty team for a few years. I live in north Florida, and the poor performance of the UF Gators hasn't really deterred anyone in their maniacal following. It would have been much better to kill the team completely for a full four year cycle, so that once they restart in 2016 or 2017 none of the incoming Freshman will have been exposed to the football cult.

swear to fucking god I was walking around downtown today and I saw a 10yo boy wearing a Penn state shirt. I could not believe it.

Fuck no, that's where I grew up and people I know and care about still live there. Plus you'd be taking out Hershey.

3 mile island scared many people out of central PA. Almost a quarter of the population of Harrisburg left after the meltdown. Maybe a nuclear reactor needs to be built next to Beaver stadium and should be aptly named "The ticking time bomb". No one is in any real danger from this reactor, it just has an unfortunate name that is meant to connect it to the revelations of the Sandusky scandal to ultimately come to light. Should have been part of the sanctions if you ask me.

Penn State has picked up its first 2013 commitment since the NCAA levied unprecedented sanctions against the program in late July.

That is a significant title for three-star defensive back Jordan Smith (Washington, D.C./H.D. Woodson), even if he does not see it that way.

"The only thing it means is this is an opportunity for me to go out and show everyone what I can do, that this is a blessing from God," Smith said while driving back from Penn State late Saturday evening. "... I can't speak to the sanctions. All I know is Penn State is my dream school and the place I wanted to go since Day One."

Sounds like it's time for the Penn. state legislature to remove public funding until all football related athletics are removed from the school. I'm actually glad they are appealing as I thought they got off pretty damn light the first time around.

Jeff Ross showed up to the Roseanne Roast dressed as Joe Paterno on Comedy Central last night. He of course made the obvious trite joke "If you're offended by what I'm wearing, just do what Paterno did and look the other way"

Witness: I Saw Sandusky And Penn State Booster Abuse Boys On Private Plane

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/08/sandusky-penn-state-investigation-booster-abused-boys-private-plane

A witness interviewed by federal authorities in the widening Penn State investigation claims he saw Jerry Sandusky and one of the school's prominent boosters sexually abusing boys on a private plane.

And while Postal Inspectors are also trying to determine if Sandusky shared pornography through the mail and sent seductive letters to his victims, the biggest bombshell is the allegation leveled by the witness who was interviewed within the past few weeks.

That man, who has a strong tie to the booster he is accusing, says that Sandusky and the booster abused two boys on a private plane in Pennsylvania, a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.

"The witness doesn't know if the boys are victims who have already been identified or not," the source told Radar. "He claims it happened on a private plane, with no pilot or crew around and that he was an eyewitness.

"His claim is being taken seriously by investigators. They have already asked another man who is connected to one of the victims if he knew anything about this. And they are following up with other potential witnesses."

While Postal Inspectors have taken the lead in the investigation into possibly mailed material, the FBI was present during the interview of this witness and is continuing to probe.

"This witness has some baggage," the source said. "The Feds are going to need to corroborate what he says. But he is adamant that he is telling the truth. And that raises questions about why he didn't report what he saw at the time.

"Unfortunately he's not the only person involved in this who didn't do the right thing when they should have."

The witness has also refused to comment and his former attorney told Radar that he would not comment about a client.

But RadarOnline com has obtained documents that financially tie the witness to the booster. Those documents show a significant and tangled relationship between the two men.

An accrediting organization has told Penn State that its status is "in jeopardy" based on recent developments in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which accredits universities in the Mid-Atlantic region, cited information in the school's internal investigation led by former FBI director Louis Freeh and the severe penalties imposed by the NCAA over the school's handling of molestation allegations against the former assistant football coach, who was convicted in June of 45 child sexual abuse counts.
The commission said in an Aug. 8 notice that Penn State remains accredited while "on warning" but it wants a monitoring report submitted by the end of next month detailing steps taken to ensure full compliance with governmental requirements, that the university's mission is being carried out, that the commission will be fully informed and that Penn State is complying with standards on leadership and governance as well as integrity.

Damn it every time this thread bumps I hope that he has been murdered in his cell. So disappointed.

This is the reason I open the thread. I keep wanting to read about some violent incident in the prison showers, and instead all I get is people arguing about vacated victories and the football program.

For the record, USC was the 2005 BCS National Champion and the best team of the 2000's. I'll pretend shit didn't happen with Paterno and that he's the 12th winningest coach ever, but fuck no when it comes to pretending the Leinart/Bush teams didn't win those games.
