Nintendo can now ban streamers and content creators from using their games if they are caught posting “immoral” content and leaks

tfw you hate anti-consumer Nintendo, but streamers even more

let them fight fighting GIF

CLICKBAIT ALERT

Title (and headline) says "ban", but they aren't banning anything. They can "object" by filing claims on YouTube, etc. They could already do this. This statement is just clarifying their position.

They can't "ban" anything on a platform they do not control.

I think encouraging sexual encounters in a fucking kids game is disgraceful and fucked up. I am pretty ok with Nintendo banning those people from their games.

Nintendo only has themselves to blame. Have you seen the absolute vile stuff that players post on their in-game SplatNet banners? A lot of it is sexual in nature and is especially loaded with LGBTQ messaging (because, for some reason, Splatoon has become a rallying game for that cause). Nintendo has done little to nothing to police those posts/user drawings despite having a reporting system in place. Some of it has been so bad that I opted to turn off all user posts entirely.

Give a Youtube channel three copyright strikes without giving the channel time to respond (or even if the channel responds, Youtube support for their content creators is atrocious) and the channel is effectively nuked, even if they don't have direct control of the platform.

You probably right. Either way I'm still on team ban the pedos.

Basically this

Yep, bunch of random soft core porn games all over. And unlike say Steam, no way to filter them out from showing up on the searches, sales, etc….

Even if you turn off adult rated games for your kids accounts, they will still see them in the lists.

wasn't there some Splatoon sex right discovered lately? I assume this is in response to that.

The splatoon posting has devolved with each game release. It was pretty great in the first game. Some moderation would be nice.

It's a shame, I always thought Splatoon was a kiddie game then when switch came out I got Splatoon 2 and fell in love with it. especially ranked matches. It would just be nice if we could communicate or it was easier to play with friends. Stuff like this prevents that.

Personally, if there's a Splatoon 4 (which I imagine there will be on Switch 2), I hope they take community posting completely out. I know they probably won't because it's been a staple feature since the first game, but it really contributes nothing to the overall game except allowing people to act like complete douchebags with almost no fear of accountability. The occasional really good piece of artwork or genuinely funny joke that becomes a community meme isn't worth the rest of all the trash that gets posted up there.

Leave the locker and splattag system, let people express themselves that way.

Did anyone actually read the article? It doesn’t sound like they’re “banning” anything. Just doing their normal copyright strike shenanigans on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

Someone should send some strikes to Nintendo as well since in their eyes "Emulation is illegal" and they keep promoting their garbage Nintendo Online subscription which surprise surprise uses emulation to make those old games work.

Seriously, they're as petty and hypocritical as a company can get.

Hopefully one day they sue the wrong mf and that guy tells them "sure baby lets go to court" and makes them their bitch since legally they have no claim.

people are definitely reacting without reading.

"But yuzu was sharing roms on their discord! 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭"

This is insane. Nintendo shouldn't have authority over what people say while playing their games.

It's like a clothing store deleting my channel because I said something they didn't like while wearing their shirts.

Huh? How is this different from what they were doing before? The wording here is almost, if not, unchanged from what it always was. Also who the hell was telling Splatoon players to find sexual partners in the game?

Nintendo should take a look at all the Hentai games with big breasted “women” pictured in the game icons littering their digital store then

"“We reserve the right to object to any content that we believe is"

lol. This is dangerous language right here. It basically means, 'If we don't like it, GOODBYE YOU'RE DONE!"
