Microsoft explains how its DLSS competitor uses AI to improve any game (Auto SR will ship first on Copilot Plus PCs with Qualcomm chips)

Yes. Very impressive technology to potentially make older games from previous console generations to look really nice.

I'm sure the Series X will have enough GPU power to upscale Xbox 360 games, or even Xbox One games for that matter, using this technology (and running the AI upscaler on the GPU).

Except AutoSR was very specifically designed for the highly customized Snapdragon NPU.
Additionally, Microsoft ATG hasn't shown any progress (literally ZERO) in developing inferencing applications for use on the Series consoles.
Maybe they've got stuff working in the labs, but nothing has made its way to any games yet.

If this could be used to improve the 720p Xbox 360 games which didn't receive any 4K updates on Series X, it would be very welcome (barring any weird results when upscaling the game UI).

Isn't their whole talking point is that they have a specific AI NPU that is doing this for their copilot pcs? Maybe the next gen of Xbox will have a processor like this if it's not too cost prohibitive.

The eyes they use on those DF thumbnails. LOL

The tech does seem decent in motion. This might be something interesting once it spreads out a bit.

Sure. But the XSX GPU has roughly the same amount of INT8 TOPS for AI use than that specific AI NPU on Snapdragon X Elite chips (49 vs. 45 TOPS). So it could be possible, performance wise, to run that AI upscaler on the GPU with a Xbox 360 (and perhaps even a vanilla Xbox One) game running at the same time?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Lost Odyssey ran through this filter would be wonderful, it never got any native enhancements.
