God, the Wii is pretty much dead in the water.

Zero. If it were any other big third-party exclusive, I'd say otherwise, but people don't seem to grasp how much of an anomaly the DQ franchise is.Second said:What are the chances of SE moving DQX to WiiU?

Party as genre, not first party.d+pad said:I'm guessing the first two you're talking about here are Kirby and Zelda? If so, yes, I agree with you.

Doesn't even make sense.

Grimmy said:The week after Zelda/Little Battlers (6/23) is a big week for the PSP: Gundam Memories being the big one, with Stein's Gate and Gloria Union being smaller releases. The 3DS lineup that week is negligible. So I really doubt the 3DS will outsell the PSP that week.
Not Outbreak, but Gun Survivor 2 on the PS2.lunchwithyuzo said:I think the Outbreak games would probably be the best comparison. What did they sell?

A PSone One Piece ranked above REmake when they came out in 2002 as well.DR2K said:I figured after One Piece, RE would have done better. Surprisingly not.

Yes.Sage00 said:3DS Red Model? Was that already announced?
they don't need to as you'll be able to play it on both consoles anyway. I wouldn't be surprised though if DQX was released around the same time as Wi U in Japan, and was used to tout the retrocompatibility of the new console.Second said:What are the chances of SE moving DQX to WiiU?

It was announced that DQIX sold some 4.26 million way back in March 2010. Given Monster Hunter Portable 3rd sold roughly the same amount now on Media Create, I would think they are about the same in franchise strength, but only in terms of portables.
DQ X is going to outsell MH3 on Wii by order of magnitudes more...

MH is that strong on PSP - DQ Main title could be released in the 360 and still would sell its 3 million ......kswiston said:Monster hunter 3 portable is almost at 4.5 million according to Media Create, and is past 4.4 million according to Famitsu. The game still hasn't had a bargain priced re-release yet. 2G sold 1.5 million in re-releases. I don't think that will happen for MHP3, but 200-300k seems like a reasonable target.
Garaph has DQIX stopping at 4.15 million in its initial release. The bargain re-release is at about 175k. So that is ~4.3 million total. Dragon Quest IX is the best selling entry in the franchise by a good margin.
So, I don't see how it is wrong to say that, currently, Monster Hunter is more popular than Dragon Quest. Especially since Monster Hunter Portable 3 has outsold every DQ game ever.

I would still put Pokemon and DQ above Monster Hunter, I wanna see if that iP can maintain those sales levels post-PSP era ...
gerg said:The only explanation I can think of is that Nintendo is really desperate to make yen in Japan when the exchange rate is so poor for everywhere else, but I think we're long past the point where the extra yen from fewer sales represents a net gain (over less yen but greater sales).
On the other hand, I'd say we're also long past the point where lowering the Wii to 10,000 yen would bolster it, either.
And Mario and Sonic. 3 of them have Mario. What is this? Party attack? Now I see why Nintendo includes 2 wiimotes.Chris1964 said:OK, so Wii this second half has 2 confirmed big party games, 3 if Just Dance 2 is included with them, 4 if Mario Party 9 also makes it for December and 5 with Rhythm Heaven?

Alrus said:Those will not make any difference in hardware sales. Gloria Union is probably not gonna break 30k and I doubt steins:gate is gonna make any waves.
I know nothing about this Gundam release though, is this a big release with lots of marketing or a lower key one?

So I'd disagree about it not making a difference in hardware sales. At least PSP sales won't drop.
Are you also factoring 3rd party games? Inazuma Strikers and Itadaki Street could be big sellers.Chris1964 said:And Mario and Sonic. 3 of them have Mario. What is this? Party attack? Now I see why Nintendo includes 2 wiimotes.
It does seem a bit sparse. Not many big games, a decent number of smaller games.French said:Is it me or PS3 has no games until August ?
