Joe Rogan's Podcast |OT|

Golgo 13

The Man With The Golden Dong
Lol yeah James Fox is definitely the more measured and carefully spoken of the two, and that’s been particularly obvious in the last few months. I’ve found out a lot about Fox since that post and seen a couple of his movies - guy is the real deal.

Corbels heart is in the right place but he’s sort of a goofball at times

Kurt Angle was just on. Seems like a good one from the clips I've seen.

Dude had his neck broken like 5 times. JFC. He's definitely one of the wrestlers who worked his ass off and earned everything he got. Was a good episode. Enjoyed all the episodes with wrestlers. I hope Rogan gets Vince on at some point. That would be one hell of a listen.

Had to stop the latest episode with Elon Musk. Always listen with headphones but Joe was eating pizza and he talks with his mouth full. I couldn’t handle it and had to stop. It was nasty as fuck

What I like about this show is that it is a no bullshit kind of show. They like to do a lot of fringe science and fringe history topics. Stuff you normally don't hear about.

I wish they'd put the Spotify episodes on YouTube now that there's no more exclusivity. I have nothing against Spotify but I did find myself listening less in that era just because it'd require going to another app. It'd be nice to catch up all in one spot.

They should reupload all the old episodes they took down, for that matter. Though they probably feel they can't monetize those as well.

I just assumed the Spotify episode are still exclusive. He did sign another contract with them, so I imagine that’s part of the deal.

The episode is still up as of this post, though I wonder if Spotify will remove it.
He's been having Dubin on for years, I tried to listen once and found his understanding of recidivism rates for example very lacking. In this man's specific case we have three generations of soft on crime policy with very predictable consequences and a lack of shits given for victims. Big surprise. I will never understand people who prioritize convicted, dangerous, violent people who are provably guilty of their crimes over their victims and future public safety.

Trump will be on on Friday

HOT DAMN
Wow, not surprising, but still wow. Wonder if Harris will ask to be on. Joe has been pretty negative towards her but if she could lay down some cogent arguments about her policies it might sway him....and pledge to release the full Kennedy assassination papers and Area 51 documents of course :p

I'm subscribed to both JRE / JRE clips.
And for sure the audience will be astronomical.

Let's see if YouTube is going to promote this on their front page...

god cant wait to listen and hear him sound even more demented than he already is
Which one? :p

I wonder if this will be streamed live. I doubt it, but would be amazing if so. I give 50:50 odds this interview descends into stories of 80's era gangbangs and real estate scams or Trump spilling the beans on all the crazy shit he had to approve while POTUS ("I ordered the assassinations of 20 guys you've never even heard of!") versus some sort of discussion of policy. We might get some border wall, trade with china, and ukraine funding stuff but we'll see. I actually can't remember the last time a presidential candidate just talked hard facts about their policies, certainly not since Perot have we had what seemed like a coherent comprehensible strategy versus VERY loosely aligned random goals (abortion for all being tied to trans rights, for example).

Anyway, I doubt we can really discuss the interview much here, unless it DOES wander into bigfoot and DMT territory :p

Damn. Almost 3 hours long too.

Gotta hand it to him. Is there any other politician that could, or would, take the risk of sitting down for a three hour interview.

I'm not American and have no particular preference in the vote but it would be absolutely unimaginable for a candidate in my country to consider doing something like this. They just wouldn't have the balls for it.

I'll watch it in 3-4 sittings!

90% of our politicians are pathetic. The good ones are usually on the back benches.

Come back to me when he sits down with someone who would be far harder on him. It's a soft interview for Trump, and he knew that going in. I'd admire him if he agreed to be interviewed by a journalist with a better reputation for political interviews, who didn't express bias one way or another.

Rogan has never really been a hard interviewer, though. He's not looking for confrontation, he's looking for conversation. There have been some exceptions to this (the medical advisor to CNN comes to mind), but even those are generally limited to certain sections of a given interview.

I think if Kamala did agree to a Rogan interview, it wouldn't be all confrontation either. It's just not the type of interviewer he is, which is why people like him so much. For the most part, he'd rather know why you think differently instead of telling you that you're wrong for thinking differently. It's crazy that there are multiple 24 hours news channels and none of them can seem to present disagreements with anything other than bad faith, strawman arguments, yelling, and interruptions.

Finished listening. Trump is seemingly much more moderate in his views than Joe is now, because of Joe’s shift in recent years. He gently chided Joe for being antivax, mentioning how important the polio vaccine is. When Joe tried to get onto the notion of big pharma conspiracies to allegedly intentionally destroy everyone’s health Trump wasn’t on board and said he had a great relationship with pharma companies.

Must’ve been Joe’s dream to ask a POTUS abut aliens, but Trump said he didn’t have much interest (“a little interest—not a big interest, but a little interest”) and gave him a smoothed over response that he hasn’t seen anything convincing but talked with some reputable pilots (“solid guys”) who had claimed to see strange phenomena. He also made some vague mentions about opening the JFK file half way and not seeing much of note, but that he’ll definitely open it the rest of the way once reelected. Creating FOMO for people interested I expect.

There were a lot of very dull parts with Trump’s usual stump rhetoric. Joe tried to steer away from it in the first hour without much success. Things got more relaxed after that but it was still a lot of Trump being the best and most successful guy ever in politics, you wouldn’t believe how successful, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln put together wouldn’t have been able to do what he did. Joe groaned uncomfortably. Kamala being a low IQ individual, “a low…IQ…individual,” for emphasis, and so forth. Made me want Shane Gillis to be there to do his impression.

Trump had a lot of appreciation for Elon and said he was on the phone with a powerful and influential person and left him on hold indefinitely, forgetting he was on the call, to watch the Super Heavy booster catch when it came on TV, because it was so mesmerizing and impressive.

On the Ukraine front, Joe tried to bring up corruption in Ukraine and the money being “wasted” helping them, but Trump had no interest in criticizing our defense of Ukraine other than saying the Russians are a meat grinder war machine that is difficult for Ukraine to handle long term, and the war would not have happened if he had been reelected since Putin would not have dared to do it, and he’ll sit down with Putin and “the other guy” to sort it out. He didn’t remember Zelenskyy’s name but said he had a good relationship with both of them. The usual rhetoric.

Nothing really groundbreaking. If Trump ends up winning I guess it’s reassuring that he’s not aligned with a lot of Joe’s nonsense.

This interview is terrible so far. Joe asks what the first bit of presidency was like and this guy spends 20 minutes talking about the height of the White House ceilings and Lincoln being depressed cause his son died. Can't imagine how mushy a person's brain must be to be this unable to follow a thread.

I watched the first 30 minutes or so earlier. It's Trump, it's gonna be bullshit, but with Rogan it might be quite entertaining. And in a way, this is history being made.

Starts out good too. It's hilarious how he went on for like 3 minutes about how depressed Abe Lincoln was about his son (Tud or sth) dying, when in fact Tud died 3 years or so after Abe. This was not some off hand remark, trump seemed really passionate, and unusually insightful, about it, which makes it all the more hilarious. This could be straight outta veep :D :D Joe didn't fact check him or anything either (and I don't expect him to), I read it afterwards (and verified it then myself).

Gonna watch the rest later, Late Night Hosts gonna have a field day with this one.

Nah, we out here for Trump.

Plenty of people left, understandably. It’s deeply unfair to arrange a rally, then sod off to do something else, and leave your supporters standing around in the cold. The video message from the luxury jet was the icing on the cake 😂

Which rather renders going on Rogan pointless for anyone who wants to hear politicians pushed hard on their beliefs, opinions and plans for government. America seems to have lost its ability for proper critical analysis, with any political figure.

Good perspective. I look at all this from a further view as just having a pulse on things and at least making Trump human.

The guy has been demonized since he decided to come down that escalator years ago. I think what PBD said is true. First you idolize, then demonize, then humanize. Trump deserves that. I used to think he was this bombastic guy who said the darndest things. Compared to the sweet nothing in the ear while screwing the people, he is refreshing for all his faults. Watching a little bit more of this round of election stuff, I can safely say there will probably not be another one like him for a while and like Jordan, I appreciate the circus while it's here.

History will look a lot more kindly on him since people are more informed than ever and not just buying stuff from the typical media on both sides.

Massive numbers, last I checked it was almost 21m after 21 hours.

That somehow managed to be both less entertaining and less informative than I’d hoped.

As others have said, Rogan’s a soft peddler. He doesn’t have the experience or skill at interviewing to glean anything worthwhile. He’s also becoming increasingly weird and nutcase-like, so getting much from this interview was always going to be difficult.

For all his faults, and there are MANY, you at least can never doubt that he’s saying exactly what’s on his mind and what he wants to do. He comes across as genuine. It’s incredibly refreshing when up until now we’ve been fed nothing but vapid, empty platitudes from both sides in recent history. Coming of voting age in the Obama era I used to find that inspiring, but as I’ve become a cranky old man it just rings hollow and meaningless and I simply have no more patience for it. I don’t want to hear about how great America is while Cardi B is twerking on stage at a rally and my Taxes are funding wars I don’t support. I atleast hope that Trump will have a lasting impact on the rhetoric of our politicians. People are tired of being babied.

Found it to be as I expected. No massive revelations or smoking weed while talking about the time he fucked an alien. It's too close to the finish line for anything like that.

But I think the real value here is the precident its setting. Career politicians the world over must be shitting themselves today in the knowledge that voters will be expecting and asking for a lot more of this from them. Sitting down for long form interviews will be kryptonite for a large majority of them. But now it's been done once, people will require a lot more of it in future.
