In all seriousness… why hasn’t Sony remastered Bloodborne?

It looks great and plays great. Why does it need a remaster?

Haha - I usually see eye to eye in your taste in games but XCX is the worst of the blade titles; the Xenosaga 2 of the arc — an absolute slog with a broken currency system, an uneven/uninteresting story, and a shitty cast.

An important Monolithsoft experiment nonetheless and probably led to a bunch of great insights for XC2/XC3.

The same reason they haven't opened up the PS1/PS2 emulator on PS4/5 to play real discs and also why they haven't bothered to develop a PS3 emulator for PS5 yet - because fuck you, that's why.

I imagine it has to do with Fromsoftware working on multiplatform projects and the closure of their Japan studio, thats my best guess they didn't had a team to do the job and just for some reason forgot about Bloodborne

However the remaster of Demon Souls is promising and was well recieved,so there is always a chance Sony will do something with BB on the future

From said that the codebase is a disaster and that a simple remaster would be a lot of work.

Personally I would prefer them to do Bloodborne 2 rather than a Remake of the first one.

Bloodborne was fucking amazing and Sony is going to capitalize on that and have bluepoint remaster the shit out of it and have it be a ps6 launch title with no pc version in sight. also i think sony will own from by then

and like... This proves they still can update the game and got means of you know... working with it.
But normally nobody would notice bloodborne servers were dead for 1 day... so to bother putting up that message? so many years after any other message ?!
What a coincidence. I wonder who's in charge of those servers updates. Is it From Software?

I remember reading things about code and ownership from multiple places. Which can be complicated, but for something so clearly loved, it's shocking it hasn't been figured out yet.

I'd like to think it WILL happen at some point. It's just insane that it's taken this long.

This has to be the single most overrated game of all time. Janky Controls and a trash story, but it’s difficult and produced by From Software so it MUST be good.

Listen man, I too hate the FROM circlejerk (and I've been playing their games since the PS2 era) but, Bloodborne really is that good, there's just no other game which starts as a pretty normal Goth-Victorian horror action game for it to turn fully into cosmic horror fuckery mid way...

Add to that some brilliant atmosphere and tight gameplay and you can understand why people love it.

Now, Elden Ring on the other hand...I could write 10 paragraphs on why I didn't like it.

It's one of the best games of the golden PS4 era which unfortunately, i can't replay it/stand it anymore since aliasing is pretty bad nowadays and full of pixel crawling, it's got frame pacing issues and the 30fps is the final nail in the coffin since I game on an OLED.

This is why people want a patch/remaster/remake

Cheers

yeah good question.
But if "that someone" has the ability to do this, they sure have ability to switch BLOODBORNEGRAPHICS.INI file to 4k120fps pssr right?!
I don't think this proves any editing of the game files. After all no update was pushed, correct? So how would it have changed?

The more likely scenario is that bloodborne has always had a built in message system and checks the servers for any messages to display. The servers get updated messages but the game is unchanged.

probably.
BUT this means they are updating servers because they expect more players after december 3rd... RIGHT ?!

My guess is that the servers are getting security updates or something.

I guess the fact that they haven't shut down servers means they know they have players still. They could just be migrating their servers to another provider though. Maybe MS bought Kadokawa. Who knows what's going on with the backend.

For those saying sales, Bloodborne sold 7.6 million as of 2023 and is still selling several thousand every month.

Some reasons could be:
  • BB plays perfectly well on the PS5 already.
  • BB has Spaghetti code and would require too much investment to port.
  • Sony's push for live services has hurt their core games business.
  • Sony's recent US/European managers have destroyed the work culture in all of their studios.
  • Bloodborne does not meet the content standards that Blackrock dictates to Sony.
  • Bloodborne's source code was lost.

Even as someone that really likes the game (I have like 3k hours in it or something) I'm inclined to agree. I think most people online talk more about games than actually play them. Bloodborne is dope, but From has gotten way better since then. As cynical as this might sound, Bloodborne probably has this insane reputation due to the skybox. It's a really fucking rad skybox.

I for one think they are going to have Bluepoint remaster it for a Ps6 launch title
Absolutely. Sony is aware the demand for this, and they want to push those on the fence about getting the new system sooner than later. The remaster/remake has a specific purpose for Sony in this case.

Have you played it at all? Serious question.

The game ran poorly on the PS4 due its improper framepacing so it constantly stutters despite actually holding a 30 fps framerate most of the time. Even the PS5 and PS5 Pro cannot fix that this the framerate is capped at 30 fps.

These days the game's image quality looks horrible with its 1080p base resolution, heavy use of chromatic aberration and low-fidelity post-processing anti-aliasing (FXAA?) that means specular highlights shimmer and every edge looks jaggy when the camera is moving.

Yes, the art work is still great but a remaster with a 60 fps framerate, hopefully not by FromSoftware themselves, is solely needed to do this game proper justice on modern hardware. If not on PS5 then definitely on PC where it stands more chance of being preserved properly.

I replayed it this year and I don't see the need for remaster. After framerate and all technical does nothing to me.
But when I hear some saying it's "unplayable" because 30fps, framepacing etc... I just roll my eyes.

I get that if you want top notch, smooth perfect graphics, framerate etc..., you'll might not like it.
But I'd say for majority of people, the game is perfectly fine.

Bloodborne is not up to the current technical standard but perfectly playable.
