Same ,Friday the 13th is my favorite series, Jason Lives is my favorite , nightmare on elm street, The Blob remake, The Thing , Halloween, 1408, the strangers, to many movies

The Blob is really unappreciated and always gets overlooked when people talk about good remakes. Can't explain exactly why, but that scene in the phone box has always really unsettled me. Only minor thing I didn't like was that they explained its origins, where it would have been more effective if it just appeared one night.

Got 'Kolckak: The Night Stalker' full series on DVD and the Nightmare on Elm Street box set for Christmas. Stoked about that. Kolchak is so damn good. Darren McGavin is so good in it.
yes Night Stalker is a perfect little slice of history, great show, for us cheap people metv replays the whole series sat night after buck rogers, even though I have seen every episode I still dvr them and watch in background while working lol

Man, that must be one of those awesome over-the-air channels. My Trinitron in the basement is set up to get those channels, my area doesn't have anything all that great though. Grit, Laff, Bounce, Mystery, etc. I've heard of some channels that show nothing but random horror movies. That would be amazing. If I had my way I'd install a satellite dish in the yard and try to get as many of those channels as I could, lol. Something about picking up free tv with an antenna will always be fascinating for me.

I recently watched The Last House on Dead End Street (Or "The Funhouse"), which evidently was a pretty infamous obscurity from the 70s. The bare basics are a porn director getting into actual snuff films and has a very gruesome gore/torture sequence at the end. Rather oddball movie that's ultra cheap yet has some interesting and trippy direction at times. Gore hounds will mainly just want to watch the ending. After this the director went on to make a bunch of pornos, which isn't surprising. =P Can't really say I'd recommend it unless you just want to fill out your "I've seen it" catalog.

The movie originally had a 3 hour cut under the title "The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell" and supposedly caused a riot at a Chicago showing (I have my doubts about this). I'm not exactly sure what a 3 hour cut of this movie would be as the current edit doesn't inspire much confidence it could maintain interest at such a length. Unfortunately we'll never know as all the excised footage is lost.

Really enjoyed The Platform on Netflix. Would recommend watching it in the original language with subtitles. Very cool concept and interesting/disturbing movie. I did think it got a bit weaker towards the end, but enjoyable film.

Been out for a while, but I was slow on watching it.

The Platform is great. I love small movies that come out of nowhere and do something odd and different.

The ending was a little underwhelming but still a great movie.

Definitely. I love when smaller movies take advantage of a weaker budget as well. There was not any point in this film where it felt like it had no budget, the prison design was excellent and very immersive.

It seems to me that the lesser known Netflix films always seem to be the best ones. The ones they heavily promote usually don't turn out too great.

Anyone seen His House? I've heard good things and been meaning to get around to it. It came out very recently. Just wondering if it is worth watching. It has 100% on RT but the user reviews on IMDB seem a bit more mixed.

I'll check it out, Thanks.
The reviews on imdb seem to suggest this is not 'jumpscare' horror and a bit confusing so might turn off some people.

Yeah, the reviews are a tad mixed. I personally don't mind something that isn't jump scare horror. I find them to be quite annoying when overused for the sake of it. I like them when tension is developed naturally and it builds up to a scare but random ones just take me out of the movie.

Let me know how it is. Probably going to pick out a movie at some point next week, so it would make my life easier if you say good things about it.

Hey Harts316 Harts316

Not sure if you watched His House yet, but it was a solid film. Loved the atmosphere, some good scares throughout and the performances were great. I wouldn't rewatch it again, but it was better than most Netflix films.

Still love this opening all these years later. So tense and love how it slowly builds up, and eases you in. It was just genius having Drew Barrymore play the opening girl when she was such a huge star at the time. Love the little conversation about horror movies, Kevin Williamson wrote such a genius script.

I went into this one completely blind. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Pretty easy recommendation for me. I would recommend not reading about it/watching a trailer and just giving it a go. It's pretty good.
That is a great British film. I would highly recommend it too. It's been a while since I watched it but I remember it completely messing with my mind. Highly unnerving and riveting film. Definitely a film to go in blind, and get lost in it.

Yes, I watched it and wasn't too impressed. It's got some scary pictures and scenes but is actually more of a drama about refugees. A little bit too artsy for me as well.
But watchable. Depends on what kind of horror you're into.

Saw 1st episode of American Horror Story. Such bad editing, somehow worse than the CW DC shows. Will stick though. Not much horror on TV.

First episode of season 1? Season 1 is honestly prob my favorite season of American Horror Story tbh.

granted, I haven't watched it since it originally aired but I remember it very fondly.

Turns out it was censored to hell even though it was 18+, hence the bad editing.

Sinister with Ethan Hawke is still a fantastic experience. Great scares, intriguing storyline and the Super 8 films are incredibly disturbing. Always worth a rewatch.

It's on UK Netflix, if you're bored, watch it!

Ummm I wanna say something that has been lingering in my mind for 40 years. When I was around 6 to 7 years old in Cuba, I saw a movie that was a horror movie...just glimpse of it. The scenes I saw was a girl with blond hair running thru the cemetery at night I think the was running away for a serial killer. It was a 70s movie. Then this scene with a stair case pan shot...That is all I remember. Does anyone know what movie I am talking about..

Was it English language?

Best guess I have is Phantasm but I vaguely remember the plot, and I'm not sure it has a scene like you described. I just know that has a lot of cemetery scenes if I recall correctly.

Hey Sidney, I’m really looking forward to seeing you in Scream 5. I hope you don’t meet your demise!

I can't wait for Scream 5. I can't believe they managed to get her to do another film, I love how much she cares for the character. It's going to be weird without Wes Craven, but I hope they can do him proud.

Yeah, I think it’s going to be great from what I’ve heard. Wes wil probably be very proud of the film. I love how much she cares for the character too. Sidney is one of the best scream queens if not THE best IMO.

Sidney is my favourite, but I am a tad biased. I think what makes her great is her resilience. I'm surprised she is still going with the amount of betrayals she's gone through, one tough cookie!

Yeah, most people in her position would have broken down mentally by now. She’s still standing tall and proudly, and I commend her for that. She is definitely role model material and is most certainly a fighter! Sidney is the ultimate scream queen. Laurie Strode doesn’t even begin to compare anymore.

I like Laurie but her storyline is so convoluted and weird. If you include the sequels, it's such a mess. The reboot cleaned it up a bit. It is honestly hard to follow at times with how many times the Halloween series has changed course. Sidney has always remained pretty consistent.

Nails the atmosphere as well, not a traditional horror but definitely has that nightmarish feel to it.

Cam on Netflix is pretty good. Most of you guys have probably seen it, but worth a shout anyways. If you are in to films like Unfriended and The Den, you might like this. It mostly takes place from a webcam.

Did a double feature with Suspiria 1977 and 2018 this weekend. Original holds up quite well, thought the remake was not bad but super into it. Hard to really remake a classic though, and a lot better than expected.

Great to have you in the thread!

I think they are both great. It's hard to beat the originals usually, but it's one of the better remakes I've seen. Dakota Johnson is a solid actress, she got a bad rep because of Fifty Shades.

Yeah definitely better than expected. Nothing planned for this weekend since we have the Joe Bob valentines special

Watched Alone (2020) and Possessor (2020) recently.

Alone was a great, albeit somewhat predictable person runs from serial killer story. The acting in both leads was great.

Possessor now was something else. A strange body horror/sci-fi drama film with some weird scenes. The ending was bleak. Very bleak. You could tell the director was David Cronenberg's son!

Anyone else watch the channel Dead Meat on YouTube? I would highly recommend it to all horror fans. All of his videos are very entertaining.

Hello all, belmarduk belmarduk expressed interest to me earlier about a HorrorGAF discord server. They offered to create one/moderate it and I would also be open to it but just wanted to see if people would be interested before creating it. Give a (y) or whatever if you are interested.
