Just got this game for Switch on heavy discount. Never been much of a Harry Potter fan (never read the books and I've seen maybe one or two movies). But the game looks pretty awesome and got good word of mouth so I feel I gotta at least try it. Haven't followed the controversy around it either, but after seeing that Wired review I'm glad I missed it all cause that fucking shit got me headaches. Yikes, y'all!

It's a bit jank on the switch to be honest. Lots of loading when you need to go into Hogsmeade but once past that and into the larger open world it's not as bad. There's a lot of content that you can choose to do but I wouldn't care about the gear and upgrading it for the first 20 hours at least, it's maddening how you'll get 5 different scarfs or robes in 15 mins of exploring.

Pure luck l mean look how well that worked for Star Wars Outlaws.
nah. he said 'part of the reason', & i believe letting you create your own character & participate in an original adventure was indeed part of what people loved about the game. but there were very obviously other factors that also contributed to its massive success...

How is this game for a grown ass man not that drawn by Harry Potter and running around casting spells with a wand?
I can kinda see myself liking it if I can become a powerful evil wizard and lay waste to everything and everyone, though.

That’s what happens what marketing makes creative decisions.
But the marketing people have to realize that this has been tried and failed before, no? Back when video game development was cheaper, shorter and less volatile. This sounds like a logistics fucking mess.

I mean, just as with DC, the Harry Potter IP was most successful in video games when it had NOTHING to do with the movies. It goes for Lord of The Rings and Star Wars too!

Harry potter is one of the few things I’m willing to divorce the creator from the product.

Congrats to the devs, the game (albeit a bit shallow) was still a fun ride

their 'recreation' of hogwarts steals the show. i'm a grown ass man never really attracted to potter, but the love & imagination poured into the design of hogwarts itself i just found genuinely impressive - a developer with a vision...
