After KOTM being the worst thing I had watched since Suicide Squad or theatrical JL

Those human scenes. Even if the action is pretty cool, it's like having turd pellets on my pizza. Drugs are about the only chance I have of getting through that movie.

In Shin Godzilla, the human bits aren't nearly as bad, so a standard has to be set at some level. Even Godzilla 14 had glimpses of compelling human drama. KOTM is embarrassed itself with the human characters.Human scenes in a Godzilla movie is like "acting" in porn. You skip over it all for the action.
After KOTM being the worst thing I had watched since Suicide Squad or theatrical JL, despite the bombastic reviews it received (from a certain portion of audience), I'm very skeptical of this film.
You won't like Godzilla Vs Kong then, in fact, you won't like the majority of Godzilla movies. In Shin Godzilla, the human bits aren't nearly as bad, so a standard has to be set at some level. Not necessarily. You won't like Godzilla Vs Kong then, in fact, you won't like the majority of Godzilla movies.
Have you even watched the older Godzilla movies? Not necessarily.
Again, Shin Godzilla and 2014 are two recent ones I love.
And when you go back to the older, occasionally cheesy films, they are often playing a different ball game.
I don't think KOTM has to be the measuring stick for whether or not someone will enjoy other Godzilla films. Far from it, really.
Yes. And there all types of tone when it comes to Godzilla movie. You don't have to tolerate the horrible writing and acting in KOTM to appreciate other films in the franchise, even if they can be goofy in their own ways.Have you even watched the older Godzilla movies?
Why are you comparing the 1954 Godzilla to KOTM? That is just ridiculous man. You stated that you liked the more serious and dark tone of the newer movies. This is why I pointed out you will probably not like most G films because most of them are pretty ridiculous and have bad acting, with dumb plots (especially the SHOWA era where focus turned on children)Yes. That said, there is nothing in the original 1954 Godzilla film that makes me roll my eyes like the human bits in KOTM.
I stand by the fact that you can think KoTM is a poor film and enjoy many other movies in the franchise.
What was your point?

I don't understand your hate of KOTM because it was a love letter to the entire franchise of Godzilla. There are only a hand full of Godzilla films that meet your criteria and they are
Godzilla: 1984
Godzilla Vs. Destroya
Godzilla: Giant Monsters All-out Attack (sort of)
Godzilla Vs. Biollante
This list is excluding the 1954 masterpiece and Shin Godzilla.
You watched ONE older movie then proceed to tell me that that I am wrong? Bro, I have watched every single Godzilla movie there is and I personally own 95% of them which is over 30 movies. You are right about Godzilla taking many different forms and roles within his life but most still have bad to mediocre writing, with dumb plots. Quite a hand full involves alien invasions controlling the monsters to fight.I'm comparing the two because you asked "have you ever even seen the older movies?" when I critiqued KoTM. Well, Godzilla 1954 is the oldest, so I'm telling you how I feel about it in regard to KoTM. Makes sense, right?
No offense, but you're not fit to make a list of Godzilla films that meet my criteria, based on the fact that I disliked the goofy writing and acting in the human segments of KoTM. There are a variety of Godzilla films and they aren't all quite the same.
Plus, you forgot 2014, so the list continues to grow.
It seems like you want to defend KoTM to the point that if I critique it, you question how I could like any Godzilla films at all, besides a very select few of your own choosing.
KoTM and it's horrible writing isn't ambassador for all Godzilla films.
But, I will give it another chance this week since I impulse bought it upon release expecting to like it.
Weird flexBro, I have watched every single Godzilla movie there is and I personally own 95% of them which is over 30 movies.
What can I say? I grew up with Godzilla as a kid and collected the movies. They sparked my interest in filmmaking. Plus, I was trying to explain to him I have a lot of knowledge of the franchise so that he can trust my opinion for the recommendations I gave him.Weird flex

I gave you a recommendation from my extensive knowledge of Godzilla filmography to suggest movies you would enjoy the most so you can avoid the super goofy-ass shit (trust me, there are plenty of Godzilla films that meet this criterion).
This discussion had nothing to do with the quality of KOTM. I am not trying to convince you otherwise. Get off your high horse and take my comment as a humble suggestion.
Would you say that you're the King of Monster Movies? What can I say? I grew up with Godzilla as a kid and collected the movies. They sparked my interest in filmmaking. Nah, I got like no merchandise. Some people go really crazy with that shit. Too much unnecessary spending imo when I still have the main attraction. The movies. James Rolfe (Aka Angry Video Game Nerd) now THAT guy has a serious monster collection.Would you say that you're the King of Monster Movies?
This movie is garbage.
Only redeeming thing was MechaGodzilla.
- Magical Kong Girl
- Weak ass Godzilla
- Lame fight between Kong and Godzilla
- Atrocious score
Nah, you picked the most extreme example. This is called a strawman. You can keep shitting on KOTM though and assuming my intentions, no skin off of my bones. Hate to break it to you, but the majority of Godzilla movies are ridiculous, and the original Kong Vs. Godzilla is one of the most cornball cheesy films I have ever seen. It may come as a surprise to you that I think Shin Godzilla and the 1954 original are in my top 5. The Hesise series brought Godzilla back to a serious villain, but they quickly diluted it in the latter half until Godzilla Vs. Destroya. No, I didn't see one older movie. I've seen multiple.
The reason I chose 1954, is becau you are comparing KoTM to the originals in a desperate attempt to defend it, and 1954 is the original. And it's nothing like KoTM so you are moving the goal posts to other Godzilla movies that do fit your description.
But you already know this and now I'm giving more exposition than the humans in KoTM.

What other older Godzilla movies did you enjoy?
Damn didn't realize there'd be straight up spoilers in this thread, figured there's usually a separate thread for that discussion.
Yea, you haven't watched anything from the original series other than the 1954 classic. If you did, you would realize how ridiculous this claim is. Godzilla gradually evolved into a dumb popcorn flick focusing on a child audience compared to the serious foreboding analogy to the atomic bombs in 1954.The original is an extreme example when you were comparing to the older films?
Speechless.
It seems like your main intention is to drive home how much of a Godzilla fan you are. You just keep flexing random Godzilla fun-facts and how many of the movies you've seen as if it makes you right.
All of what I said has been shown in the trailers. All of it.

Yes, I would like to say this too. If I came off snobby, it was not my intention. I want people to check out Godzilla which is why I suggested some movies that might be more of his taste. The American version was actually the first Godzilla movie I watched lol. It's OK if you have only seen the 1954 original.

Well, to be honest with you, I already said a few times that I've seen more than just the original. It's OK if you have only seen the 1954 original.
My dude, the Bluray movies are pretty darn cheap.I've only seen about 3 or 4 of the Toho films and wish I could watch more. There is no where to stream it in Australia though and I'm not sure if I want to pay for the Criterion set. It's a beautiful looking set but if I don't like 80% of the movies it won't be worth it.
I can't remember which movies I have seen as it was over 25 years ago on one of our local TV channels but I enjoyed them. Filled with boring human characters but the monster action was stupid fun.
A couple Godzilla vs. Kong cast members have told me that they did not have to go back for additional photography. Did you have to go back, or are you in the clear?
Eiza Gonzales: Yeah, everything’s been done. These movies take a long time because there’s a lot of CGI in them. But, yeah, we’ve done everything, and they’re just going through and creating these incredible characters. I’m just really excited to see it because it’s these two worlds colliding. The fan base for Godzilla vs. Kong is incredible. When I say I’m in the movie, people are like, “Oh my God.” Seeing that fanaticism and seeing how excited they are to see this movie makes me really excited; I think they’re going to be really happy. [Director] Adam Wingard is so talented. Both stories are going parallel, as you’ll see, without giving anything away. It’s a large cast as well, and it was really fun to be part of it. There’s so much going on, but the heart of it is two young girls as well, which is such a positive message for society nowadays. It’s just incredible.
We did a few days [of additional photography], but it wasn’t really crazy. Like every other film, we did a couple days, and that was kind of it. When you do these big, massive films, there’s always moments that you didn’t see and want to fill in. It was really basic stuff. Nothing too crucial or crazy.
