2x ATK? That's just sad. Usually the Archon wants one of the first sets released. Emblem, Deepwood, Golden Troupe... I imagine they'll just change her burst to give her temporary unlimited points so she can use Codex. If they don't want to do new sets at least.
Theorycrafters seem very hyped for Citlali. I feel like she needs her own artifact set too though. Scroll is very strong on her obviously, but Xilonen would already run that so the benefits would be greatly diminished.
You can always run some of the old sets on her if you're running both her and Xilonen in the same team. Stuff like Noblesse, Millelith, etc is evergreen when you have that kind of situation. But yea, she does seem like she'd want her own set too, something that gives/scales off of EM.
You know how I feel about the HP loss shit. I tried to use Furina in my team with Shenhe/Chongus/Cloud Retainer (which is one of her best healers), and I still hated every minute of it. Same reason I still haven't built Neuvi despite how strong he is.
I still don't know what to think about that though.
Clearly the knight in the BP scene is Dainslief, which most people already suspected. But (I think - I picked Aether so I don't know for sure) the BP scene always says "princess" regardless of the gender of the Traveler you picked, so I don't necessarily agree that the Princess in the BP story is supposed to be Lumine. But yea, that Dain basically gathered the sinners to find and rescue his brother, and saved Khaenri'ah by accident is interesting...
It's hard to imagine that there's another blonde abyss princess, tied to Khaenri'ah that can absorb limitless abyss power, though. They gonna hit us with a "surprise, there's a 3rd sibling!" at the last chapter?

I kind of wonder if we aren't really siblings, maybe the traveler was created with all the abyssal energy they used on the princess, maybe as a first iteration of trying to create a world free from the rule of the Heavenly Principles.
What I hate about all the playable characters needing to be alive in the story is that it takes away any stakes in the story where they imply that that character is going to die.
Interesting change. Guess it gives people a bit more time to contemplate and/or save up to get the new character(s). I can't remember the last time I didn't get the character on day one so it's irrelevant to me, but still positive I suppose.
I was looking for Lanyan's drip marketing, but they're probably saving her reveal for TGA or something. Surprised they showed Mavuika's bike in the artwork. I thought for sure they were gonna hold back on that. Someone mentioned Xianyun technically invented a bike too that she used to race another Adeptus, though we never see it in-game. So I guess one could argue it's not completely out of left field.
They actually pulled this with Honkai Impact at the end of the first major story arc and pissed off nearly the entire playerbase universally, regardless of region or background. It was impressive how they united the playerbase at that moment against them.

Well I get what you're saying, but this whole chapter has been about death and rebirth, so the foreshadowing was there the whole time. I'm actually curious to see if they leave Chasca's sister dead or not.
Kinda weird. I won't say no to having more time to collect primos and roll new characters, but this doesn't help their biggest problem which is their current rerun scheduling and how they pick which characters rerun. They have to do triple banners or at least make that Chronicled Wish banner come back and go into a predictable rotation. They have to do something about it. 500 days for Shenhe/Ganyu and Wrio NEVER getting a rerun realy puts the spotlight on how bad the current system is. I really liked InterMusketeer
's post about making every character have a 24h banner on their birthday, in addition to whatever else they have going on. Guarantees at least once a year chance to get every character and it's easy to plan for.

I think the difference is that Cloud Retainer's inventions are mostly played out as jokes by the story, and when they do get revealed, they're kind of a "magic' high fantasy version of technology. The floating oven that automatically cooks meals, self-flying kite, etc. Plus she's an inventor by nature and likes figuring out the science of things, so it's a believable take. Natlan is full of people doing cave art and climbing trees, with broken bridges and ladders everywhere that would make it impossible to traverse, yet we're supposed to believe they figured out motorcycle engineering (that nobody else in the region uses, not even motorized cargo carts or anything), DJ tables, a flying mecha gun, etc. It's just too much of a clash for most people to have suspension of disbelief. It'd be one thing if the tech didn't look like modern 2024 tech. Like how Link's Motorcycle didn't take me out of Breath of the Wild because it looked like an in-universe version of a motorcycle. The tablet from that game too.
Even Fontaine with their guard mechas had it kinda explained through Pneuma/Ousia and that power that Focalors was collecting with the judge machine as some sort of "magic science". And the tech is mostly steampunk in appearance which is fantasy in itself. In Natlan they're just like "lol IDK, Phlogiston or something.".
All of the Natlan characters feel shitty to use outside of Natlan. I thought it was funny how they nerfed Kinich, they only give him one grapple despite it taking almost no Phlogiston to use in Natlan, and there's no good lore reason for it. That's why I was hoping "gives party Phlogiston" was in either Mav or Pyro Traveler's kit.
Anyway, Granny Itztli finally got her drip too. It kills me that she's in the same patch as Mav (and probably Cloud Retainer too, if I had to guess) because they're characters I'd be interested in rolling constellations in, but I just won't have the resources. Still going to try to get a copy before she disappears into the "Cryo no reruns dummy lol" hole.

I'm guessing we'll never see under the hood of the bike so who knows what's under it. Someone said in an earlier post that the bike flames looked like a dragon so it could be magic based or tied to the pyro dragon.
It was mentioned that Xilonen's house is filled with records/books/history, so she may have read something. Fontaine has record players and computers.
Chasca is ameno and she's not the first flying ameno character. She's riding the gun but is she flying with the gun or is the gun itself flying? We don't know. You could argue that you need a vision to use her gun so that's why it isn't mass produced.

No, I completely agree. Chasca's gun, the DJ table, the bike, they all look like high tech equipment from a sci-fi setting. Meanwhile the rest Natlan is stuck in a fantasy Aztec/Inca era. It's completely out of place and not at all integrated in the lore or characters. Mavuika, being an Archon/God, could possibly explain her bike in some way, but that leaves everything else.
I just wanted to share that Xianyun story because I thought it was kinda interesting, not to defend MHY's choices or anything. I think it'd be interesting to see where people's boundaries lie for this kind of thing. Fontaine had pretty modern looking boats/ships for example. The Fatui Pyro dude has a rifle that probably doesn't look much different from Chasca's. Yet still these Natlan elements have caused pretty strong backlash with fans. I wonder what they could have gotten away with, you know?
Can’t wait for the cryo region to have gundams and transformers battling and everyone to be in iron man suits.
What flys in the face of the games internal logic is that places like Natlan really aren’t that far away from other regions of the world, the tech from there (and Fontaine presumably) would quickly spread throughout the world, instead we have places like Mondstat stuck in the medieval ages, and the poor bureaucrats and officials in Liyue sorting business papers, contracts, and legal documents by paper when apparently they could have been using excel spreadsheets this whole time. Just makes Ninguyan seem like a total idiot for not taking advantage of these things since she’s such an amazing business leader or whatever, in retrospect it just makes her seem stupid and misguided.
And now there’s jetpacks lmfao, why are gliders even a thing. If players don’t get access to jet packs now it really will be a complete and total joke. The game is just getting silly now.

You could argue that the computers needed to be hooked up to Fontaine's electrical grid that only exists in Fontaine. Xilonen could have possibly whipped something up with Natlan's do everything mineral. We don't know what all her DJ table can do so it may not even have a computer.
The jet packs use fuel only found in Natlan so widespread use wouldn't be feasible.
I don't think at this point any argument will change your mind, but I think there's enough consensus in the community that they overstepped the tech line quite a bit in Natlan. If it doesn't ruin your enjoyment, that's a good thing though. Personally I dislike it, but not enough to significantly ruin my day or anything. I'm still just a little ass chapped that 90% of Mavuika's kit is on a motorcycle, so that's definitely fueling the fire for me.
*edit*
Speaking of Motorcycle, I mean Mavuika, looks like she has hard caps on her flying mode. It stops on its own after a few seconds regardless how much Nightsoul/Phlogiston you have remaining.

FF8 is a bad example as there is tech prevalent everywhere from the get go. And designing a car to look “classic” is not the same in the slightest as what’s happening in Genshin.
They already have two games (ZZZ and Star Rail) that feature technology prominently. Genshin should have embraced its fantasy and magic roots instead of veering towards homogenization with mihoyos other titles. The game is losing its identity.
Mav could easily have had fire wings spread out to allow her to fly, or be enveloped by a phoenix or a flaming dragon or something. Instead she gets a motorcycle.
There are dozens of ways they could have kept all the same mechanics and used her pyro archon vision instead of giving her a machine.
It’s silly and it wasn’t featured at all in any of thr scenes where she fights Captain or the Abyss monsters during the invasion/seige. But suddenly when players finally get to use her, well here’s a fucking bike. Enjoy.
It’s so dumb. And the apparent limits on its flying /traversal ability, which could have been the 1 thing to make worthwhile, also now seem to be extremely limited.
This is a lose-lose-lose situation. There’s almost nothing redeeming about her except her design itself. I can’t imagine how they could have bungled this any worse. What a travesty.

They don't usually tease kits in such detail during story quests. For example, when we saw Navia for the first time in 4.0 she didn't use her shotgun either. But this is an extreme case where her depictions differs greatly from the final product. Chasca is another extreme example since her gun was never even alluded to in the previous quests.
Lots of ATK and CDMG, some EM. Get Hydro, Pyro and Cryo in your team for the best reactions. Then just stack buffs from artifacts, weapons (TTDS) etc. For my account, I feel like she'll get a significant bump when Mavuika and Citlali are released.
My build looks like this:
I crafted that circlet for her just yesterday, actually. Haven't been having luck with CDMG circlets. It's not too bad. We've been getting a decent amount of those Elixirs, so I don't regret using them.
I also crafted this one for Furina last patch when I found she lacked ER:
So for now the crafter's been treating me pretty well...

Feeds into my theory that we will be coming back to Mondstadt after Schneznaya, where I personally think Venti is going to take us back or forward in time and alter the landscape of the region significantly.

I wonder if we'll finally meet Varka in Schneznaya, he'll die, and we have to go back in time and then we get playable Signora and Varka in the same patch /cope

Yea supposedly Varka has been there this entire time with the horseless cavalry lol. After seeing the leaks a few months ago, he is drastically different than I expected him to look, so I'm mostly agnostic about his playability. I was hoping he'd be the first 'buff' male model playable character, but that seems less likely as the patches go by, so he's just going to be another beanpole and his prosthetic arm didn't even look interesting/cool.
Man, not even a beard or anything. I expected something like this at the very minimum (talking about the head/body proportions obviously, not futuristic cyber armor).
Unless they're going to do another Faruzan/Citlali thing or we find out he's Klee/Alice race, he had found razor as a child and Rosaria as a teen, and they're now at least 10-20 years past that phase of their lives, there's no way he should look like Diluc age.
Anyways, the rumors about Signora getting rebirthed in Natlan also seem less and less likely as we're drawing close to the end of the Natlan story, so who knows how much of those old leaks were just people making shit up. Shame too, I think that could have been a cool subplot where they have Capitano in Natlan investigating a way to bring her back with their unique rebirth system instead of just joining up because "abyss bad". They could have also tied him in, in some way with Rostam or the Bloodstained Knight, so it's like doing a favor for his fallen family/comrades/etc.
Lots of wasted opportunity in the story, but that's par for the course. I still like Natlan so far more than Fontaine or Inazuma.

Damn, they removed the $3.00 coupon from Play Store. I used to get Welkin for 2 bucks a month. Now you can only buy stupid material boxes with like 3 blue ore and some xp books for 150 google points.

That's weird. I exchanged 500 points for €5.00 just a couple hours ago to help pay for Balatro. Or did they have special Genshin deals too? Don't remember seeing those.
This past year I've been buying Welkins through lootbar for a small discount. Hasn't bitten me in the ass yet (knock on wood).
Been thinking about the rumored extended banners in 5.3. Chinese New Year (and thus Lantern Rite) lines up with the second half of the patch. Obviously they want to run Mavuika during that time for maximum profit. Delaying her 'till the 2nd half would just destroy any hype for the 1st though, and leading the update with Citlali is a death sentence. Most would skip for the Archon. The extended banners make sense from that angle.
One thing that gives me pause, is how busted the weapon banner would be if Citlali and Mavuika ran at the same time. Very tempting... Another option is that we're getting Mavuika and Clorinde first, with Citlali and Arle added later. That way, they can have separate weapon banners. Sounds more believable to me.
Anyway, I was just brainstorming because I'm not sure I could resist that weapon banner. I've been hoarding for a possible C6 Iansan, but she might not even be a 5-star, or maybe she or her cons suck. Realistically, I probably won't have enough primos anyway with how fast they're releasing characters. There's the rumored Inazuma 5-star too. Difficult choices.

Yea they used to have a $3 coupon you could buy and use on anything over $3 for like a hundred points or something. Infinitely repeatable, so as long as you had points, you could keep issuing the coupon, but only once per transaction and you could only hold one at any given time (couldn't buy another one until you used it). It wasn't much, but every bit helps and I'd been using it for years at this point. It's just flat gone now. I looked at their other games, and the one for Honkai Impact 3 still exists, so just the Genshin one was erased. I think Star Rail might have had one too at one point, but it's also gone.

Like you originally mentioned, most of the banner pulls/revenue are done in the first few days of any given banner, so this really hasn't affected anything at all for me. Genshin patch primogem gain is always done at a dripfeed so it's not like you typically can grind heavy during a patch to give yourself 1-2 more multipulls before the banner is gone, unless you've been slacking or saving a lot of content (*cough cough*). We usually get the free 10 pulls for Lantern Rite though, so that's kinda nice if they're extending Mav's banner for the whole patch. This change probably matters more for strict F2P players. I'd personally rather see more rerun banners or have them swap out more often, but we don't always get what we want.

I'll go for a single copy of Mav's sword for sure. It's a universally good stat stick and looks cool. Easy pickup if you like claymore characters. I didn't see the stats on Citlali's orb, but the way you mention it, it must also be strong?

I think at this point you should resign yourself that she's gonna have some stupid fucking gimmick like all the other Natlan characters. I'm not sure which traversal mechanic she could use. Maybe jumping like Super Mario. If Mav wasn't the Genshin version of one of my favorite characters in all of gaming, and if she didn't have a killer design, I would probably skip her after seeing she's 90% off field or motorcycle. I just haven't been a fan of these gimmicks that they've been mostly designing characters around the last 2 regions. Fontaine with the HP fuckery and now Natlan with the traversal mode combat. I get that they're looking for ways to make new characters worth pulling vs. old ones, and specifically worth using together, but it's just taking me out of the combat entirely, which I already don't feel is Genshin's strong suit.

It's a pretty big EM stat stick but the passive is a bit niche, i think there's only 5 characters that can use it. Citlali, layla, c6 yanfei, baizhu, and lanyan

I assume lots of Asian players might use their new years' money to buy stuff in the game during Lantern Rite. Enough to make a difference to banner planning in any case. For us, it definitely doesn't matter much.

I considered that too, yeah. I'll enjoy the character for a bit, but it's very likely not worth investing heavily into because these gimmicks get old by design. That's also a strike against getting 5-star weapons though... There's a small sliver of hope that they'll abandon the gimmicks like they did in Fontaine with Navia, Chiori etc. but chances are slim. And is Snezhnaya even gonna be any better? I should probably save my hoard until a support comes out who I'd want to play on-field. Those are the C6 that are actually worth it.

I'd mostly do it for aesthetics. Citlali's gives a ton of EM for stronger shields and a 28% damage boost to the active character for 10 seconds.
As I understand it, it gives the DMG boost to the active character, so it transfers to whoever you swap to, unlike previous shielding buffs.
Started doing this at 4.0 so pre 4.0 isn't true 100%
Got the night tribe area 100% without finding the hideout (was tracking down the mora interact boxes for the last 1%). Think the hideout added at least 11% exploration to the feather tribe area (was 89% so could be more).
How's the improved treasure compass been treating you guys? I appreciate any improvements of course, but I feel like it's still not enough. I saw a random cracked rock in 5.0's area somewhere, and destroyed it. A monster came out and I defeated it, which spawned a chest. I'm pretty sure the compass didn't notify me of anything. Probably because the chest didn't exist in the world yet. I wish it would just mark all locations with rewards once you get to a certain percentage.
I know I could just follow a guide or something, but I'm too lazy for that. I just want the in-game tools to be better.

Previously, it only pointed to chests that already exist.
Now it includes time trials.
It doesn't include puzzles where the chest spawns in. Possibly because it can't differentiate between puzzles and story spawn chests?
I personally make a map pin whenever i get a chest and label what kind of chest and maybe additional notes. I then check them off on the interactive map and delete the in-game pins. Or just check them off on the interactive map if I can.
No matter how careful I am, I always have 1 chest left to find I missed somewhere.
In 5.2, my last one was a puzzle that spawns the chest but the interactive map puzzle marker was the destination, not the origin of the puzzle. It was close to another pin and I checked it off by mistake since I thought I did it already since there was nothing there. Doing this before the interactive map pins have labels has its drawbacks.
