Agree a 100% on most of what you're saying (so not a 100% i guess lol?), especially in regards to RE2make vs RE3make.
Since you already went down the REmake path, might as well continue moving on to RE4make I'd suggest. Maybe easier to stick to the REmakes now and then go through the classics after that? But maybe that's just me, other people would probably like to switch it up once in a while.
It's not much of a spoiler or anything, Nemesis in RE3 is (iirc) much more aggresive and feels more like a genuine and almost alyways present threat, as were in RE3make most of his encounters felt like scripted QTEs or something. It's especially sad since they've gotten Mr. X in RE2Make soo right. I agree with your point about it being wasted potential that Mr. X fucked off relatively quickly in RE2make, but that is kinda what the original did too, so I guess I don't blame them too much for that. They pretty much just needed to take that system and apply it to Nemesis in RE3make, and the game would already be better by a lot.
Mr. X is like this constant thread that is looming around (actually kinda like a character in RE8...), you hear his steps, thinking yourself "shiiit here he comes, go away, I don't have time for you pls leave me alone". I love this mechanic so much actually. Too bad not a lot of other games do that, Lords of The Fallen (2023) has something sliiiightly similiar, but overall it's obviously something very different and not executed nearly as good as in RE2make.
E: Just in case, I'd like to point out that RE4 plays VERY differently from the previous games. That's not exactly a secret and you probably know that, but as I said, just in case. Don't want you spending 30 bucks on the game and then being irritated that it's very different. Personally while I love 4, it could never compete with classic RE for me.
