Do you have gaming music and sounds as your smartphone's ringtone and notifications?

If your cell phone makes a sound in public, you are a weirdo.
I always try to consider my surroundings and people around me when using phone but this comment is too strong and inconsiderate.

This is a phone, of course I need to hear it when people call me. I don't like to use smart watch (never get used to any kind of watches actually) and I cannot sense or hear vibration in my pocket. Then how can I take my calls when people call me without hearing it :messenger_grinning_sweat: And I wanna hear the song I like when my phone rings.

Always silenced with vibration unless i'm waiting an important call.
But i set my mother's phone ringtone with this since years:

Yes. My ringtone has been codec from MGS and my SMS/Notification sound is the "Alert" sound from MGS. Been this way about 20 years, but often my phone is on vibrate.

You really don't need to hear it. You can get back to someone when you inevitably check your phone soon after lol

I'm just messing around with the "weirdo" stuff though lol But most people have put their devices on silent for a long time, so it's definitely something that stands out, I rarely "hear" people's phones.

I have the default theme and sounds for my phone.
Never really cared much about it.

Same, and most people I know do the same thing, this leads to funny situations when everyone is checking their phones when the ringtone plays :)

the codec sound from MG for notification
.. then I grew up
The steps of growing older from childhood to old age:

  1. Envying/Imitating older people
  2. Asking constant questions
  3. Thinking you have the most deep thoughts
  4. Thinking you're more mature than actual adults
  5. Quickly realizing the world is much larger after highschool
  6. Realizing you are in over your head
  7. Adulting!
  8. Suddenly thinking you are too old/mature for certain things (you are here?)
  9. Part 8 probably happened because of Part 9 (Dating/Lifelong Relationships)
  10. Family stuff here/Maximum stress possible
  11. "I miss the good old days"
  12. Not caring about step 8 or 9 anymore because you're even older and just want to have fun

FF7 PS1 fanfare victory, I had it as soon as we could have mp3 as ringtones. I don't care at all about people hearing it. At the contrary, it is great to see sometimes some turn their head with a smile, reminiscence of their childhood or perhaps still a gamer !
For discord message's notification, Zelda BOTW opening chest sound. It sounds great.

Soviet Connection - GTA IV
Been my ringtone since the game released I guess
Became my alarm too during college years, my roommates liked that jam in the morning

Parody of actual AJUMP23
My ring is the main theme from mass effect. All my other sounds like text message and notifications are from super mario brothers.

My phone’s text message has been the Switch “click” sound effect since the initial reveal trailer. But I almost never hear it since my phone is either on silent, or I’m wearing an Apple Watch.

I had a Mini Ninjas one for a long while until someone offered to physically hurt me over it.

To be fair, it was incredibly annoying.

My ringtone is Ennio Morricone's The Wild Bunch, which fucking rocks.
So, not a videogame but still "pop culture reference", if that counts.

I wouldn't be against using a videogame-related one if I liked it just enough to be a replacement, though.

Used to have gaming ringtone etc dating back to the old brick Nokia's. I'd use the composer feature on my old Nokia to make the MGS2 theme my ringtone etc.

These days my phone has Default ringtone and notifications and the phone lives on silent.

MGS codec beep for notifications.

Once at the grocery store it went off and someone in the same aisle went "Colonel, this is Snake"

We high-fived.

Like many others, MGS codec ring for most calls. It works well because it is literally a ringtone itself.
Text messages is the MGS "!" sound.

It did not originate in a game but it would not surprise me that learn that they used this in one of the games. The warning beep from mobile suit Gundam is my default system notification sound:

Calendar alerts is from the Vice City intro:
