FYI, publishers can decide if they want to offer their classic releases as standalone purchases, or lock them behind PS Plus Premium; Capcom already did this in the past with Resident Evil: Director's Cut, and Bandai Namco used to be the worst offender until they started to allow people to buy its classic games.
You can buy every single PS1, PS2 and PSP game released by Sony.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Here a comparison with DuckStation.

Fingers crossed. I especially care about DC2 though.

Honestly was never a fan of Dino Crisis 2
I wouldn't say no to a remake of both though.

How is the emulation? I started dead island 2 but am pretty bored with it already.

I never did get into dino crisis before (dinos don't really scare me). So if it's a good version I'm probs gonna bounce from DI2

It was on a par with Resident Evil 2 and Silent Hill back in 90s.
But I'm not sure if the game aged well.

Just reminds me of how bad I want a remake, I'll wait for PS6, even 7, but, CAPCOM just please fucking remake it.
Boy I sure can't wait until another one of my favorite games gets a modern remake by people completely unrelated to the original project who decide to randomly change things at a whim for modern audiences, so a a bunch of people who were totally 'fans'. But somehow never actually played the game despite it being on multiple consoles, pc, and easy to emulate. Now they can lecture me about how great of a game (the remake) is, how it's totally faithful even all the changes, and how I'm not a fan despite owning and playing it on both my Dreamcast and PS years ago. /s Totally went great all the other times it's happened.

No game should be remade. Ports, maybe remasters, but nothing else. Tired of senseless changes, for the sake of changing things, and every old game getting twisted to play like the new ones. Games are art, and shouldn't be remade for money.

I strongly disagree based on RE2, SH2, Spyro, Demon's Souls, Yakuza Kiwami and the SotC Remakes.

I really don't think any of them have anything for you to bitch about in regards to "modern audience" changes.

Because it knows you hate it
I found it eventually. I don’t hate it. I just don’t put it up on a pedestal like a few here do. I think the thing I disliked about it was that the Dino’s respawned, and you had limited ammo. While Resident Evil and Silent Hill had limited ammo, but enemies didn’t respawn, unless it did so on purpose when you had to back track.

I hate that the game is behind the highest tier of Plus with no option to buy but I have the original and a Polymega so not as bothered. According to reddit, they seem to do this with Capcom titles.

It's basically Resident Evil with Dinos and it is pretty good. I don't remember the dinos respawning but if they did, clearly it didn't bother me lol. I played through this and RE3 multiple times. These two games were the reason I got back into gaming actually and I should also mention Tenchu: Stealth Assassins.

I have 1 and 2 via PS Classics. Kinda stupid to lock them up. I just downloaded Siren because I owned it before and before that Wild Arms 2 and Legend of Dragoon. I didn’t have to rebuy Jeanne D’Arc, but they did that with RE for whatever reason.

I’d rather play Dino Crisis on Vita tbh with a better screen to look at.

Pretty sure enemies don't respawn in DC too, but some plot advancements might spawn some new enemies. The same happens in RE. I am fairly sure a lot of rooms stay empty if you cleared them. Enemies were tough on Normal but you can knock them out with one dart, or even OHKO them if you know what to craft. I mostly killed them at choke points I had to revisit, or when you can use laser grids. I still ended up with spare ammo though, there is actually quite a lot. Its not much different from your average RE.

Wonderful news! I thought I'd bought this on PS3. Will need to dig out the old console and have a look...

Still, thank you for posting this, OP, would never have found out otherwise!

I'd argue some remakes surpass the originals due to technological advancements. RE2 is a fine example.

However, not all games need a remake. Some classic games sill hold up well today. In those cases, I see a remake as a pointless waste of resources, but if the game is dated then why not bring it up to date?

Games are art,

Debatable. Certainly not all games are art.

and shouldn't be remade for money.

All games are made to make money for the publisher/developer. Even the ones you consider to be art. Remaking old games for profit is no different to making new games for profit. It all boils down to money. This isn't like Banksy remaking the Mona Lisa to make a quick buck. These are video games. A medium created originally as toys for children.

Personally, I'd love a modern remake of Dino Crisis. I think most would agree. Bring it on, Capcom!

Bought however many PS Classic games on PS3. Only to not be able to play them on PS4 or PS5.🙄
All the PS1 classics I purchased on PS3 and PSP games I purchased digitally that are available on the PS4/5 store were available for me to download for free. Of course the ones locked behind the subscription are not (very lame that they do this).

I was hoping to buy it, but considering it's tied to PS+ it'll be an easy skip. Thankfully it's a rare case and most classics can be bought separately. I really hope that Blood Omen Legacy of Kain won't be locked as well.

This explains why I can't just go and download DC then. Thanks for posting this!

For Sony it's not too bad. It shit that DC is locked behind PS plus, but it's not as bad as Nintendo who don't give their customers the option to purchase any of their classics.

Every single one requires NSO subscription. That's shit.

Just finished it, very good port, I hadn't played it since the 90s back in my PS1, I honestly don't know how the F I finished it as a kid, it was way harder than I remembered, I had to use the Rewind feature to avoid damage at some points, but damn this game holds up really well even today, Shinji Mikami's team really was on fire back then.

Looks great, hope they put it up for purchase soon. Also didn't realize how many graphical issues Duckstation has with this this game, this is suppose to be the best PS1 emulator? Pathetic.

Duckstation with CRT filters (scanlines, halation, bloom, etc), looks fantastic.
Did you watch the video? There's all kinds of terrible flaws with the shading. Also how the light comes out through the window just being these flat messy textures that block parts of the character model as they pass through it. The sky just goes completely black in sections while moving around. The PS4/5 version much more accurate to the original, does not have those glaring flaws.

There's no CRT filter in Vick's video, so Duckstation with CRT-royale for example would be more accurate to the original. I didn't have those bugs like the disappearing sky. It's the video that's inaccurate. See this 3 year old video with Duckstation, there's no disappearing skybox.

I beat it in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Only went for red boxes, and used up all revives to create poison darts. With this strategy you'll have more than enough ammo to kill about everything.

The hardest part is when I chose Gail, and I wasn't really directed to the heliport. I was stuck for a while. Activated the elevator after getting the ID card + prints but you're supposed to pick up that DDK L at the heliport before you can advance there.

I hope DC2 will also find its way to PS+.

They were really at the top of their game. RE3 came out just 2 months after this one, and Code Veronica a few months after that.

You can have both.

I just finished RE1 Director's Cut on PS5 and the game is still awesome. The GameCube REmake is also awesome and both are still worth playing.

If they remake it again, in the style of 2 and 3, I'll be there day one. But, it won't replace the first two versions. I'll replay them all, as both of the current versions I consider possibly my most replayable game ever.

No, dude, remakes ruin the original games they're based on and complete erases the original from existence.

Trophies???

Dino crisis 1 is more a Survival horror with a lot of puzzles.

Dino crisis 2 is much better... Action héroe game with lack of Puzzles.

Last weekend I've played Dino Crisis 2 for the first time since it's release. I do remember that I did like the game back in the day, while my friends were crazy about it.

I've played for like 3 hours straight, it is so much fun, you can tell it was made by gamers for gamers - something that many games today don't have. Yes - the voice acting is cheesy, as is story, but that's the part of the charm.

Not available to purchase.

Tied to PS+ only, and even that the highest tier.

A rare Capcom misfire but one that's worth pointing out and ridicule.
It's available now for purchase along with Resident Evil Director's Cut. If you bought either on PS3 back in the day they should be free to download for you.
