Was about to ask how could that result in that awful aliasing, before checking the video and seeing none of it.Shitty work computer on a 1080p screen.

Kadokawa bomb aside, that's an awful IQ in that screengrab.
GT8 is probably my most hyped game to come from PS studios. I think it will be crossgen ps5/ps6 title as it will be releaisng quite close to a ps6 launch.GT7 is the best GT yet, can't wait to see how GT8 looks on PS6.
Because Forza Motorsport ‘23 feels like a wholly corporate entry, and not a game that was made with a lot of passion and care put behind it, even with a good amount of updates under its belt. It’s still impressive that it can run at 60 fps with RT on during gameplay, though. But, it gets absolutely demolished by this, and FH5, both cross gen titles, but ones that actually utilize the hardware well, and were efficiently developed.Forza still unable to do better with a 4090-powered PC than a cross-gen game.
TAAU runs at a much higher input resolution. PSSR drops to as low as 1080p. TAAU is pretty much 4K.PSSR runs faster than Taau.
And it's way higher in RT rainy tracks.
Where's thst PSSR tax
Maybe GT7 is on a newer version! The leaked docks did say the cost would decrease from 2ms but what are the input resolutionsPSSR runs faster than Taau.

Nah nah nah I was told there is a PSSR tax that takes away the performance gains. SlimySnake snake did his testing and proved itTAAU runs at a much higher input resolution. PSSR drops to as low as 1080p. TAAU is pretty much 4K.
I never understood that angle. PSSR's objective is to reconstruct the input resolution and give the appearance of the output resolution. Its performance should be compared to the output, not the input, and it's always faster there. DLSS was described as "free performance", so I'm unsure where this train of thought of PSSR being so costly comes from. Sure, PSSR reconstructing from 1440>4K will have a lower fps than native 1440p, but what it aims to do is deliver 4K-like quality, so it should be compared to that.Nah nah nah I was told there is a PSSR tax that takes away the performance gains. Yep, and the difference is noticeable. Not sure what I would do in chase cam, despite some undeniable visual treats granted by RT:TAAU runs at a much higher input resolution. PSSR drops to as low as 1080p. TAAU is pretty much 4K.
His testing is correct. Upscaling from the same internal resolution and it seems PSSR is indeed more taxing vs something like TAAU. Ideally it shouldn’t matter as PSSR should provide the superior image quality even if the input resolution is lower. That is not always the case right now as the PSSR+RT image suffers a bit with noise and artefacts. PSSR without RT (performance mode) does provide great IQ though.Nah nah nah I was told there is a PSSR tax that takes away the performance gains. SlimySnake snake did his testing and proved it
The game looks stunning with ray tracing in cockpit view
TAAU as far as I'm aware is the cheapest and often worst upscaling solution. I tried it in Ragnarok and get a higher fps than with DLSS Q, XeSS, or FSR, so PSSR being more demanding is expected. His testing is correct. I think the concern comes from that the performance increase from the base PS5 to the Pro is a bit on the meagre side. So PSSR being heavier than FSR or TAA cuts into that already smallish performance increase. Combined that with the titles that are using PSSR questionably and the seemingly issues it has with RT and some shade and questions are being thrown at the benefits of the Pro.TAAU as far as I'm aware is the cheapest and often worst upscaling solution. What I find baffling with the PSSR discourse is that people act surprised it has a cost and will compare it to the same native input resolution . If PSSR produces an image comparable to native 4K with a 1440p input, who cares that it runs slower than 1440p? What matters is that it runs faster than 4K, y'know, the quality it tries to reproduce.
Admit it, a Pro is needed in your life. This fuvking game.
It's gonna make me buy a pro and psvr2 when I do jump in.....

The devs also sometimes add stuff in performance mode on the PRO that wasn’t there in the base performance mode. In those cases the perfomance increase can indeed seem minor without knowing the details.I think the concern comes from that the performance increase from the base PS5 to the Pro is a bit on the meagre side. All that being said, this is all pretty new to both Sony and AMD so I’m sure the performance overhead and upscaling quality will benefit over time. Once those improvements come and developers have more time with the system, instead of just hasty patches, and I’m sure the Pro will stand on its own.
The mirror RT reflections in FM are shite. They need to release the promised RTGI mode for PC. It's been over a year"Best ray-traced reflections we've ever seen in a racing game."
