I am not concerned about the length, but my expectations are considerably lower when they are only charging 50$ for the game. This is the first game from this studio too

Having high expectations only for AAA games is a bit strange these days.
The problem is most people seem to believe this is a AAA game. It looks fantastic, visually speaking. Something that a next-gen Final Fantasy game should look like. It's awesome how AA games can have graphics on par with top tier AAA studios

If I'm reading the info right, it's 30 hours of the main quest, but then another 30 hours if you do all the side bits?

So, the average player would probably clock in at about 45 - 50 hours?

Sounds good.

Short length and $50 price makes this a day 1 purchase for me. Seems like they aren’t trying to bloat the game out and are trying to make a strong tight experience.

30 hours sounds fantastic.
Some of the best RPG's ever are in that 30-50 hours time range (including side quests). Every RPG needing to be some 80 hours bloatfest is a relatively new trend that I'm glad this game isn't following.

The pricing is really appealing too. I rarely buy games for $70 these days but $50 makes it an easy day 1 pickup

I'm cool with this. I used to love those 100+ hour games but since I only play an hour or so a day or sometimes not even that, those games take me months to finish now.

You should reward them with pricing it within their means, which of course people won't.

But yeah, this will probably be Day 1 for me.

Length of game is not correlated to its quality or impact. 8 hours with no filler can seem easily like you got your moneys worth but 100 hours of filler can end up feeling like I got screwed buying a certain game.

Some games I want to last 100 hours, some I want to last 5. It depends on the genre. Scary games are intense and lend themselves to different types of play sessions. They are often better being under 20 hours. JRPGs I want at least 50. 33-63 is good for this artsy style game. Similar to Hogwarts.

That’s not bad at all for their first game. Every RPG doesn’t need to be 100+ hour behemoth.
For me it’s very rare for an RPG to remain interesting longer than like 30-40 hours. I’m way more excited for a 30 hour RPG than some 110 hour monstrosity.

It usually reaches that point, where I got all the party members, got all the classes/abilities/whatever that I’m interested in, I know the lore and the general plot arc, all the underlying gameplay systems have become routine and game-y, and now I just want to wrap it up. It’s really hard for me to power through if I still have 10s of hours to go at that point.
