Last week i got myself a new TV, the Samsung S95B, I love it. And I have the XSX since day one. The audio in game mode is not great though, so.....time for a soundbar I thought until I read about the widespread issues with audio delay. Especially in Atmos, but I'm not clear if it's with Dolby Digital too. Is it?

The plan was to get a Sonos arc or Beam gen 2,hook it up to the TV and done. But it seems the only "fix" so far is by connecting the Xbox straight to the soundbar and then soundbar into the TV. But you lose 120hz and VRR then.

Qn90b here, the dolby delay affect both, dolby digital and dolby atmos, there is no fix, its an issue of xbox and they have the problem since xbox one

You should avoid buying a soundbar because, in game Mode Samsung dissable 5.1 and 7.1 uncompressed audio, so thats useless for gaming

The only way to play with no audio delay is buying a av reciever 2.1 or playing in uncompressed 2.0 stereo

2 years in xbox still does not have HDMI CEC navigation. Something that worked with the XBOne X. So I know they once knew how to do this stuff.
Did they fire the entire staff in charge of putting Video and Audio on the screen?

It is an issue with eARC. Xbox is really bad, but PS5 introduces a delay as well. You can sometimes adjust some settings on the TV to help improve, but it is really a ton of people have issues with.

If your soundbar does not have up firing speakers or rear surround speakers, you might just be best putting it in 2.0 mode anyways.

If it's a Samsung tv then it's totally the fault of Earc. Samsung uses the suckiest cheapest ducttape and bailing wire solutions in the guts of their tv's, and that includes the high end take out a second mortgage priced sets.

If it was earc fault, you have audio delay on lpcm, but you dont

Just dolby have the issue, its dolby fault

It's interesting how so many have issues, but some do have it working properly like you, my brother and a few more. Sounds like for some soundbars it really could be a setting related thing. Like for the dude that gave me this tip his fix was enabling Earc in the Sonos settings which is done by going to the hdmi source of the Sonos and then he got those settings displayed on TV. Perhaps it's something like this for other brands too?

You are going to have a delay no matter what, even with a 2.1 i have less lag but still lag

You are going to get delay no matter what, even If you conect it vía a hdmi 2.1 av reciever like i did

The best option is 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed for videogames, the best way to test it, is going to halo infinite, us the training, choose the Assault rifle and shoot 5 bullets, and motice how much delay you have

People say If you put on passtrought the delay is gone but its not, there is still a little but not as much as the whole second it was before

Both the playstation 5 and the xbox series consoles should have had hdmi audio out like 4k bluray plays have, I tried to make noise about because I knew there would be issues.

My TV is hdmi 2.1 but my av receiver is hdmi 2.0b so I can get compressed dolby atmos from netflix and Disney plus but no 7.1 from ps5 or 7.1/dolby atmos from xbox one x through the TV and out using arc as it will just be 5.1

It means i go straight into my av receiver for 7.1 and dolby atmos but I forgo VRR

On pc I use a 2nd output from my 3090ti and 8 get Dolby atmos.

once I upgrade to the new Denon av receiver that will hopefully have numerous hdmi 2.1 48gbps ports plus 7.2.6 speaker outs then I'll be fine but not yet.

There are devices that can take out the digital sound and just send the video to the TV that may work.

I bought the Denon X1700H and it solved all my issues. I wish it has 2 HDMI out ports and component connections but I'll just have to live without.

I've been suffering with this issue for years on multiple soundbars and multiple xbox's. My current set up is a Series X, LG OLED and an LG soundbar with addition rear speakers. Connected via hdmi arc, everything is set to 'pass through' on the TV settings and the xbox, but no matter what dolby digital and Atmos have a delay. So I've always had to use DTS which tbh sounds amazing but it's not on the level of Atmos. Atmos works perfectly when using apps on the TV like Netflix but when you try anything via the xbox there is a noticeable delay.

In Ps5 and other consoles this work great, on xbox with your Samsung you need a New av reciever, but this device make atmos delay so much better

For some reason dissable ALLM make the delay almost gone

In this case the HD fury arcana May be a better choice (any hdmi 2.1 video audio extractor)

I don’t have the issue on my lg CX, but on my Phillips TV in another room the lag is unbearable. I actually had to link my Xbox directly to the soundbar and then to the tv there to make it work. No such problems at all with my ps5 or any other console I have. I think the problem is definitely at ms and they have to fix it. It’s not a Dolby problem either because all other Dolby supporting devices earc without issue.

Edit: i Also have issues using my headset via controller on Xbox only, can only use stereo sound or else the lag is unbearable and crackles a lot. Also, only on Xbox. Same headphones work perfect everywhere else.

Are you referring to using your tv remote to navigate your Series consoles? They only reason I ask is because I'm able to do that through HDMI-CEC on my Series X.

Yes navigation with the dpad on samsung tv remote not working. Supposedly xbox enabled it on the beta Preview build things for people that are brave enough to try it out before official release. I'm not brave enough. Your either using a universal remote that is IR for navigation or are on a beta build.
I can use my old harmony elite remote for navigation the old IR way and it works, but I really like the Samsung remote, (It's about the only thing on my Samsung TV that I'll praise.

To be honest I only play on my playstation 5 single player games that I can't play on my pc which I do use gsync, dolby atmos etc.

I've installed 6 over head speakers in preparation for the new Denon av receiver so I will still buy that.

Try disconnecting the Xbox from tv and plugging it back in. The Samsung tv then asks if you want to control your device with the remote. Your issue isn't with the Xbox but the TV. This has been working for me since I got my new television.

Microsoft will let you control an Xbox with a TV remote soon

Xbox consoles will be able to control TV inputs, too.

I can plug my old XBONE X into every port on my Samsung and the HDMI CEC navigation works with it. Why it doesn't work with the Series X I have no idea.

I don't notice a delay with Atmos and Xbox Series X as long as audio is set to pass through on the TV.

Using QN900B TV and HW-Q990B soundbar.

All channels are working in the sound test too.

for example, trying to bouncing sound off the wall behind you (what that sound bar is doing) is a poor replacement for actual physical speakers behind you.

its use of two subwoofers (if you can call them that, at that size) is also a bit silly, considering the benefits of using multiple subwoofers are highly dependent on the placement within the room (having two subs basically side by side doesnt so much).

I always have ALLM enabled, but what would it mean if I disabled it?

ALLM just activate game mode when you play a game, and turn it off If you use any media app

However, VRR dissable ALLM, and since xbox its in VRR all the time, having enabled its pretty useless, and add audio lag for some reason

So If you dissable or keep it its the same
