Twitch has seen 2 years of decline in a row

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and reddit on racing track to see which destroys its platform at a faster rate.
Fb is already only full of boomers. It's not gonna last long.
I have no love for Youtube because of who owns it, but for usability it's ok in my book. Except they're adding shit every now and then, but I'm blocking everything (not just ads, cosmetic stuff that takes way too much space and clutters like if we were on geocities) so my personal usability is still great.
Instagram and its "suggestions" can go die in a fire. Reddit can follow.

After they canceled Dr. Disrespect without providing any reason I pretty much stopped watching them altogether. Also, they have the worst ads of any platform I can think of.

Like seriously, who wants to watch other people play games? Who wants to watch some half average chick game with half her tits out? OK, I love tits, but I ain't watching this for anymore than 30 seconds.

I think a lot of us hope kids achieve something for themselves rather than pay someone else to sit on their ass all day playing video games.

For me it was the ads. I just tune into the one sub I have and if I check out someone and an ad plays I close the site. Ad one of 8 is nuts. You’re already a multi millionaire big streamer… you don’t need my view.

Here are some uncomfortable truths for the people on NeoGAF.

You are all old.

Don't pretend that you have been a regular twitch viewer.

The regular twitch stream watcher is the younger the generation not you 30+ year old gamers.

As someone stated earlier, the decline is most likely due to the COVID bump being over and things are now correcting themselves.

A mixture of going super woke, promoting boobie streamers and their terrible business decisions forcing creators to leave for greener pastures.

I mean who didn't see it coming.

Like Twitter these companies need to pull a musk and fire the absolute chops in charge of everything.
Now streaming on twitch, OW MY BALLS!

On the rare occasion that I do watch something gaming related it is absolutely never on twitch. The general user interface is off-putting and I feel like I'm always watching an ad.

YouTube is pretty much my universal television replacement I watch just about any video content on there and all of my documentaries for the most part.

That this is trash... I can barely follow my preferred creators because of the shit meta of "play every single new release even if it's shit"/"Variety"/"Watch youtube videos and give bad takes all day long"... The whole thing is corrupted and most good streamers either quit or yield.

GOOD.

Twitch is more and more trashy, and the layout is worst and worst with time, it's unbearable to watch any stream without proper browser addons, what the hell with all these popping things, cards, points and notifications, is it christmas ?!
Will not even talk about those auto play trashy channels I don't give a fucking shit.

Maybe if they spend more time on useful things for user experiences instead of focus on stupid politics (like remove "blind playthrough" tag) or stop improving sexualization of channels like the stupid pool or whatever category (and seeing almost nude people really bothers me on twitch, If I want to see porn, I just go on Twitter, got you, what did you expect ? 😹), then, they will maybe stop their fall.

- It's full on woke to the point people will move away from it.
- It advertises porn to kids through pool streams that is basically a advertisement platform for onlyfans, its pretty disgusting, so parents will want to avoid there kids watching it.
- adds are absolutely brutal these days, without a proper addblock streams are basically unwatchable.
- If u are a new streamer u get hit by endless forced adds so its hard to grow any community.
- it advertises gambling to kids, its pretty darn bad.

I've been a regular viewer for a few years now (yes, the covid boom), and I still watch YT, 10 years later. I had all the (bad) preconceptions I see, but I just do like on YT - I "follow" individual influencers and that's (mostly) what I see. I've found that I do like certain content better livestramed/with audience than pre-recorded video. There's still plenty not to like about Twitch, though but in the streaming/gaming culture space, they are, unbelievably "the good guy" - and totally dominant. That's why shady rivals will pay lots to get attention to essentially, steal twitch viewers, hoping media/authoroties don't go too hard on them.

I mean you get tired of the same group of streamers and their drama and with the amount of different ads it is becoming ridiculous.

Too many ads on each of these platforms these days and it really destroys my enthusiasm for the content.

I’ve always hated advertisements mid content (we don’t get them on our state broadcaster in the U.K. or on its streaming service) so it’s always bugged the hell out of me when I’ve watched commercial TV or internet streaming on most services.

Out of all of the services I watch YouTube the most, but I’ve totally given up on ‘streamers’. I watch the content afterwards and bounce if the ads are too intrusive.

As a watcher from outside the US, I was puzzled by US ad reactions until I learned "CPMs vary so dramatically by season and geo that prime ad regions like the US ned to MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE FOR OTHER". I need to use a VPN to get the US experience and, well, I don't really belive in self-harm, even for science. Overall, as an Other, I am happy with what I get for free.

I have youtube premium so anything game related I use that service because I'll have no adverts no matter if I subscribed to a channel or not.
