Narrative RPG The Thaumaturge will launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on December 4, publisher 11 bit studios and developer Fool’s Theory announced. A demo is available now for both consoles.

The Thaumaturge first launched for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on March 4.

The game looks great and I have it in my Steam wishlist. I am sure I will snag it in holiday sales even if I won’t get to it till next year.

The time period and area where the game is set is super interesting.

It's -40% off on GOG, just bought it :D. Sale ends in two days or so.

Demo bored me to tears.

Graphically it looks nice, but the warning before the game starts from the blue haired devs about modern audience, and them having to make sure they told everyone their team is a diverse team that includes transgender people almost made me delete it without even playing it.

I recently completed it. I really enjoyed the story. It was well-written, cast of characters were interesting, side quests were pretty fleshed out, choices sometimes had a really cool impact on the narrative. Setting is also a highlight. That being said, I wasn't particularly thrilled about repetitive gameplay and combat was disappointing. Combat is a bit similar to Shin Megami Tensei, but has some clunky rules that on a long run makes it boring. Honestly, at a certain point I was dreading any time fight has happened. Luckily combat is not a main part of the game

The demo is really enticing, right up my alley, the atmosphere is thick as fuck. Already the historic themes look pretty in depth; and the game looks good.

One can assume the game's not trying to be historically accurate since there are supernatural powers and beings in it. ;)

Okay, but when do I get access to Black Mage?

I'm not sorry for this bad joke.

Even taking supernatural things aside, the setting has some changes that aren't historically accurate (for example trams can be seen on streets in game, but in reality they came to Warsaw several years later). There are some events that are also exaggarated or serve as a background for events that happens to main protagonist, so yeah it's more of historical-fiction than anything

But more as a fun fact, the image you posted has a very different context (it's a remark she isn't interested in being courted if player will try to flirt with her and ask about her plans for today) and that character is actually based on the historical character (Wanda Krahelska). Looking at that synopsis, her arc in game seems to be relatively similar to her backstory

Your hate runs strong I guess. Normal people don't care so much about this stuff. Ubisoft has been using it to cover their asses for years. We have people of all religions on this team -> makes game where you fight the pope. It isn't an attack against you.

I do hate the butchering of the term modern audience. That should mean more accessible for remakes or something. Not this new game targets some weird new group of people with vastly different tastes that doesn't even exist.

I really dislike the whole blue hair slur. I know 2 kids, 8 and 5 who are friends with my kids of the same age and play soccer in the same club. Their parents let them die their hair blue and they like it because they are just kids having a little fun. I don't want innocent kids like that to see hate for people with colored hair. Lots of kids color their hair these days. It's harmless up until the point where they go online and see this hate. They aren't going to understand anything more than that some assholes online hate blue haired or purple haired people and that will hurt them. It is shitty.
