Seems like they introduced pro support without a single person in the team actually playing the first 5 minutes to see it was broken and now they just backpedaled by completely removing PSSR. What a well thought-out update process they have over there at Bloober. Performance also seems about the same as the base PS5 with no major visual enhancements for the pro so I have no idea what the hell they are doing, but it's not like they know either.

So seems PSSR has issues with ray-tracing?
Newer versions with up to date SDK's should hopefully improve the situation. Not to be overblown but there seem to be some issues with specific implementations currently, no need to deny it. It can be argued that Sony were not quite ready for launch for their algorithm. I miss the days where consoles were consoles not freaking lite PCs in dire need of of continual updates for things to work as intended.

Am I wrong for feeling like there's more than a whiff of gate-keeping/protectionism about the way that PSSR not being perfect is being highlighted?

As if other forms of upscaling don't have their issues also, and that somehow PSSR is making previously "flawless" IQ worse.

Also...

Sorry, but I don't buy the idea that all these devs are doing the work to implement the new system and ignoring the fact that its making things worse. I mean, its not like they are being mandated to use the tech. So if the problems are so severe or striking, why would they bother when they don't have to?

It makes no logical sense.

At the end of the day they are likely not graphic developers so probably turning on/off the switches and turning dials. I wouldn't expect much to change quickly.

GamingTech is straight up lying here. They did not remove PSSR. They just increased the base resolution to mitigate the issues. You can see there is a performance hit on PS5 Pro that runs even worse than the original PS5 version.

There was a bad Pro patch here. It's gone now.

Good. Bloober's first shot at Pro Support was a return to form: a bit shit. They've done the right thing and walked it back. Let's see how they go with v1.07.

We've seen with Stellar Blade and Callisto that the Pro is very capable. Bloober just gotta git gud.

Well, there is no any logic, just pcmr clowns being petty.

Digital Foundry confirmed that PSSR was removed in the performance mode. It is around 1008p upscaled via TSR.

Quality mode still has PSSR but looks the exact same as patch 1.05.

Seems like this feature wasn't ready for prime time across all games.

All those users that were waiting to play this game on PS5 pro. It's a major shame.

Also, another example of the digital future. Can't even play the disk version..... :/

I'm shocked PSSR isn't perfect..

On a game that was filled with all kinds of IQ issues and ghosting with DLSS and displayed the same AO flickering using hardware lumen..

PSSR isn't perfect, but Thread is unnecessarily the shitshow.

You are spot on, unsurprisingly..

The tweet sounded awfully like "yup, game fixed, yay!" so I wouldn't be shocked if this was it. I hope not but good lord. The game is entirely too good, and good-looking, to get such lousy treatment.

That's Bloober team for you mate - and this is the reason why I was always contrary to them remaking this game.

After the original whoo-haaaas of the initial release after it receiving good reviews, we're back to "Bloober are hacks" and for a good reason.

One of the most technically incompetent developers out there and that's being polite...
