So it's not secret that the PS5 pro is a divisive topic some.consider it too expensive whilst others don't really care for the improvements it makes to visuals over the base model.

As for me I am very happy for multiple reasons but one of them came a bit unexpected.

As many I have also got a top end gaming PC that can run every game at native 4k120fps and to be honest I was moving away from consoles altogether feeling as if the experience is hampered and the ability of the PS5 was weak.

Now I have my Pro I find myself happier to sit down and just play shit. There is a certain magic to a console that a PC or even Steam Big Picture mode simply can't match.

There's a few small things like the initial boot of the pc with all my additional tools opening in the background and the windows log in (can't be auto logged in for some reason I've tried) to the random situation where games don't launch (crew motorfest won't start cos of some random error I can't be arsed to fix). I have come to re-appreciate waking the console from rest and things just work.

I really wasn't into the ps5 as of late due to compromises in visuals as in the whole fidelity vs performance thing. Performance modes have always looked like ass to me but I will always choose them for 60fps.

Now the pro has launched I'm once again drawn to the ease of use. Of course it's not matching my PC blow for blow but it's certainly close enough that it's both impressive and easy.

So I'm kind of interested in others opinions on this. Maybe it's the initial hype or new toy syndrome or maybe the hardware iteration is what made the difference.

I am a huge fan of my PC and will likely still double dip moving forwards but I can absolutely appreciate the ease and the comparative quality upgrade the pro has brought. pssr is a game changer for consoles and I hope in the future it gets better and better.

Has anyone else enjoyed a mini resurgence on their console or have you made the change to PC and your not interested anymore?

I was really disappointed with the performance modes when using the base ps5.
For me it felt like a PS4 pro 2.0

But now i'am really surprised with the pro. I can play performance mode with the fidelity of resolution mode.
I was blown away when playing horizon Forbidden West. It felt like next gen finally arrived

Seeing the IQ and performance in some games really made me question how much I'd appreciate non-PS5 exclusives. With the Pro, I'm glad I won't have to deliberately avoid games on consoles.

It's a bit like with a brand new PC where the first few days are spent redownloading old games that destroyed your old one just to see how they run lol.

Yeah, I went through it again recently after upgrading to a 4070 and I spent like a week downloading stuff and playing for 15 minutes each. As exciting as new hardware is, it can also get a bit tiring so I think I'm ready to return to my usual gaming routine.

Enjoy your ps5 pro. It truly is a very good technology especially PSSR ML which will continue to get better and evolve in upgrading games in ps5 pro. Since its still a long way to go before next gen console, 4 more years, its a good investment for console if you have the extra budget. For me, im still happy with my ps5 slim, it is still a very good machine. Next year I plan to get ps5 pro once I have enough funds.

Yeah I've been thinking this too. It feels like the premium experience we wanted from the ps5 from the start which .makes me wonder if next time round they'll launch a ps5 level machine and a pro at the same time with PSSR that would be pretty cool. I imagine e they will dabble in frame gen at some point even though it's not for me.

Not that much different for me, most games certainly look better but the base experience isn’t vastly different from the regular PS5. As for how it stacks up against my PC? Still worse for most things obviously, but then again I rarely have issues with my PC as some others here apparently have.

It's a fantastic hardware that blurs the line between consoles and high end PCs.
Based on these few first days with it, if developers actually put some effort in their patches the results are transformative and beyond what we got going from PS4 to PS4 Pro.
So the future is really promising as developers have the time to fully support and take advantage of the system.

Playing games in a more comprised state just because of console fairy magic dust is wild to me. To me the game experience itself is more important and if the game runs better and looks better on PC, it's going to be played on my PC.

Having built my PC as a living room setup to play games on a 55 inch with a Dualsense is still good enough for me.

I guess I rarely play games that have these issues you're experience though.

I feel the same OP. It’s just been a bummer to see any demanding game that’s come out recently to run disappointingly on the base PS5.

Most performance modes so far have been a blurry mess to me too. Actually excited to sit down and play current gen games again.

I haven't experienced many issues. Just the odd thing here and there. I guess my point is unless you install Bazzite on your gaming pc your likely to need to grab the wireless keyboard every now and then.

Yeah like someone said earlier — feels like what current gen consoles should have been. But, I get it. 2020 wasn't exactly a typical year. Just know that if you want to play multiplatform games and don't have a PC, this is unquestionably the console to get if you've got the coin.

I think it's going to be a long generation, and that the Pro will be 'top dog' for quite some years.

Yes you could wait it out for the PS6 or to see if Microsoft decide to throw good money after bad and make another console, but as you get older you realise that the sands of time on your life never stop flowing. It's better to enjoy the now, rather than defer satisfaction and enjoyment for some imagined future that may never come to pass.

Yes there is alot of discourse mostly coming from the price as I mentioned.

Funny thing is these same people who are upset about how much it costs will be moaning that the next gen isn't "next gen" enough compared to their 7090 GPU.

The discourse is set so next gen Sony will likely launch a relatively underpowered but cost efficient console again.

Things cost money and £450 4 years ago is not the same as £450 now (it's more).

It's just not very "cool" according to YouTubers.

Enjoy your console and all, but I seriously doubt most guys jaded by the PS5 would suddenly feel such a sense of reinvigoration with the PS5 Pro.

In my experience, those feels come from true generational leaps along with new games.

Having to use my keyboard and mouse is the compromise I've had to make, but since it is a PC I still am using it for other things so I do always have my mouse and keyboard near by. Is it unsexy and combersome to some? Probably. In game, it's very rare I've ever have to constantly whip out my keyboard and mouse if I'm using a controller, and I've exclusively used a controller to play games on my PC since I built it.

I'm sure the PS5 Pro makes games look and run a lot better now, and for people that want that convenience of a console but still want something powerful then it's the thing to buy right now.

For someone like you that does have a very beefy PC that can play games at 4K120fps I couldn't justify that "convenience" over the pure gaming fidelty you're getting.
Also knowing virtually all these new Sony games keep coming to PC means I really have no incentive to buy a PS5.
